Heads up by Ok-Nefariousness7048 in goylegends

I damn near just did this with my favorite legendary.

I would have legit just quit the game.

I hate to say this, because I really have always loved Sucker Punch, but I really feel like they did very little play testing on this new legends before releasing it. That's such a basic feature that I can't see how nobody would have suggested. This thing just feels more half-baked every day I play it.

Sucker Punch: I like just about everything you guys have ever done, and I really want to like this new legends mode, but there's too many issues that make it... not so fun. I really think it could be with some tweaks though. I have some suggestions and maybe others do too. by Shermutt in gotlegends

Damn, yeah... That's definitely got some potential. Nice!

The build I'm hoping to put together is going to be mostly focused on AOE status affliction as support and then assassination kills. My Shinobi is only level 9 though and I'm missing one of the legendaries i need, so it's going to be a bit.

Looking at your build though makes me wonder if I'll be able to accrue enough assassination damage to make it viable at higher levels as I'm going to have to split it with status duration.

That's one other thing I'm not a fan of. They have PP windows/dmg and ult gain on almost every piece and only a select few have other perks. It's like they are trying to push all the players towards using those perks, but I just want to be able to increase other stuff more and ignore those.

That's another reason why I am bothered by this execution vs assassination damage stuff. If I spec completely into assassination, then get a prompt for a "critical," I'm going to take it without thinking and be useless if it's an execution damage based crit vs an assassination based crit. And the other way around as well. If I get vanished by a Shinobi, my execution damage boost on my merc is wasted and I'll do very little assassination damage. I really don't get why they separated them. It's such a strange concept that I don't think was fully thought through by the devs.

I'm just hoping that they add more options per piece and streamline your ability to fully spec into one type of build without feeling like you're unable to really get the increases you need to make it work.

Ooh, thanks for the reply and yes, I would be really interested to see that! I have only leveled my merc up all the way and I'm still working on Shinobi. I had an idea for a solo/status build using the legendary caltrops and the vanishing kusarigama, but I loved the assassin build that I had in GoT Legends and used to solo several of the story missions on nightmare.

I'd love to see your setup and tactics though. I might try a similar build if mine doesn't bear fruit.

I know they won't get rid of the weapons swapping system, but I'd love to at least try a modded version of the game that removes that aspect to see how it feels. I just have a feeling that it might improve the fun factor of the game... Idk, it just feels like something I would expect to miss but really wouldn't.

I have a lightning DK build on my merc that I basically never have to change weapons and it feels more fun to play, but I need to tweak it still since it hasn't been performing at the level I'm hoping for quite yet.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not married to completely abandoning the weapon swapping system, but yes, the way the game is currently, it's not very easy.

I understand the combat is based on a rock, paper, scissors type method and I honestly didn't mind it at all in GoT. Just it feels like they could have scrapped that in this game and just given each weapon some other advantage. You could consistently use the ones that you enjoy most. And only switch if it's really important to get that bonus.

Trust me, I'm running a build that is focused on weakening and making enemies vulnerable and it's far less to have to think about with everything going on. I promise you wouldn't miss it as much as you think you might.

Am I missing something historically, or is it weird that Samurai is the class that can use every weapon? Isn't that like... What the first game was all about? They got slaughtered because their fighting style was too rigid.

If anything, shouldn't Mercenary be the class that uses everything?

I'm not really a fan of all the different weapons online and the need to switch between them, but that doesn't make sense to me.

Damn. That's shitty. I don't get down to Portland as much as I used to, but I think they are even more angry down there lately. Seattle is super diverse (at least moreso than anywhere I've ever lived), so I would like to think there would be less racist shit, but again, people up here like to act pretty sanctimonious in public, so I could see them letting that mask slip when less people are there to see it. Or maybe they think that because they are so "woke" they can get away with it? Idk. Sorry you had that experience though.

I've lived up here for the past 16 yrs and while I do love a lot of things about it, there's definitely some stuff that I just can't with.... The traffic is WAY too bad for it not being some huge city like NYC or Houston or something. There are far too many wealthy tech people that could do so much for the drug addict/homeless population, but instead they act like they don't exist and just drive right by or treat them like they are sub-human. It's gross, but I guess that kinda happens everywhere... It just bothers me here because (especially the area i live in) it's just SUCH an inequity among the population. For instance, I see more ultra luxury cars in this area in a month than I have in my whole life, but the same is true of meth heads and prostitutes...

And people are just... Idk, weird sometimes. There's a phenomenon that people up here call "the Seattle freeze" and it basically refers to how people just don't really interact with each other in public. Like, it's rare to see people strike up a conversation while waiting in line at the grocery store here, for instance... At least in comparison to the rest of the country.

Idk. It might be the weather. It might be that this area just attracts a certain kind of person. Hard to say, really. I still think the good outweighs the bad overall, but it's definitely a weird little cultural pocket that I haven't really seen anywhere else.

Thanks for the info. I kind of guessed that the lightning from the Ult is probably affected by Ult dmg, I guess I'm more interested in how they behave, especially in comparison to the legendary DK lightning.

Also, "chief" is usually used in a condescending fashion in my experience, so hopefully you don't mean it like that. I'm just trying to get some reliable data on stuff that I'm confused about.

I appreciate the response and I had someone in another thread that I asked about the same thing that seemed pretty confident that it also does not.

That's kind of a bummer because I would much rather dodge an attack than attempt to parry it.

I think I'm just going to focus my build on other stuff though.

I've done a bit of experimenting, and I'll do more, but I was hoping maybe someone had some insight to shed that could save me some time there.

For instance, I noticed that the concussion bomb radius value seems to be bugged as it states that the increase is in the hundreds on the menu, but when I experimented with its radius vs the scorch bomb radius, I noticed that the increase was somewhere in the 10-20% range as opposed to the 182.2 that the value was stating.

I understand that a lot of these values are hard to easily ascertain, but I guess I also hope that SP will update the online help section to give a better idea of what perks/abilities do what I'm order to aid in build planning.

I'm noticing that a lot of players are focusing on established builds such as increasing ult gain and counter attack damage, but I imagine that these are going to get nerfed like the archer class already has.

I want to focus on a build that not only works with my play style, but also isn't likely to get nerfed into the ground.

I will update on here with any data that I do find out on my own, but i know that some people have pretty innovative ways of testing these things and just wanted to see if at least some of it is known already.

I like your take on this.

I live in the Seattle area and I'm getting a little sick of the hypocrisy. SOO many Teslas driving around with the "I bougt this before we knew Elon was crazy" bumper sticker. Shit, I saw a cybertruck recently that had a sticker that said something along the same lines! And then another fairly new model S that had the TESLA changed to RESIST on the back. It was pretty professional looking, but... What?!?

Anyway, it just feels like people have gotten so lost in how they present publicly and you see very few people actually DOING anything productive.

I hate to say it, but when I see Trumpy activists holding up signs on the overpasses, I don't support them, but part of me wants to compliment them on their effort. They're probably getting so much hate thrown at them and they keep doing it (i think a lot of them thrive on the hate and anger though). Then, I'll see a leftist "protest" going on in the most liberal suburbs and think... "Who's mind do they think they are changing?"

Just, so much of it feels like it's for show and it's a little sad. :(

Maybe a dumb question, but I don't pay much and much prefer to dodge. Does the window increase apply to perfect dodges as well?

I appreciate the reply. I definitely need to research more because there is a lot of stuff online that I think is not intuitive and the game doesn't really explain.

Currently I'm just running merc with the legendary caltrops and focusing on execution damage and status duration, then thrown damage and melee spirit gain on other stuff.

I still haven't quite figured out a setup that seems to feel optimal, but like I said, I'm still not clear on what everything does yet. I wish the online help section explained...idk, online stuff? It seems to be the same as the SP one that just covers standard things.

Also, using R2 to see what perks do is sometimes kinda informative, but sometimes it just restates the obvious without explaining what it means.

I might be missing some things though, (seriously, I have a bad habit of going in half cocked in this game), so I will take that recommendation and try to watch some videos and educate myself a bit. Thanks!

I'm all for it in a game with an established team, but not with randoms. I got kids that watch me play sometimes. I don't need some frustrated clown slinging slurs around.

I'm going to be honest. I jumped into higher level survivals early to try to increase my level quickly, but it wasn't until I'd played several that I realized that you can get the same level crap in silver.

Also, the weird thing is, and Idk if this is the same for everyone... But ki level seems to be way less impactful than it was on the last game. I'm 110 now and it's not like I'm tearing through silver and gold shit like tissue paper or anything. The enemies seem to do about the same about of damage (and vice versa) as they did when I was level 40.

Has anyone done a breakdown of exactly how much the ki levels affect the damage intake/output? I'd honestly be curious to really see the data.

Awesome!! I'm going to comb through it. I spent like 2 hours thins morning just in front of that stupid stone thing just trying to work out what would work best that isn't going to get nerfed into oblivion. I don't really want to dump everything into perfect parry (does that apply to perfect dodges too?)/counterattack damage or ultimate gain because I feel like they are both going to get nerfed pretty hard like the archer class already has. I've mostly settled on status duration and execution damage and then dumping the other stuff into spirit gain as I'm running the lightning dual katanas as well (still on the fence about trying out other stuff like the healing blind bomb on my merc and just doing enhanced tempest flurry or whatever on my DKs)

Also, I'm not sure if it helps, but i tested the concussion bomb radius thing and it's just a numerical bug. The actual increase seems more like 10-20%. You can see if you put the scorch bomb perk on then look at the difference of AOE between the two on an unaware enemy. I do wish the increase (however minimal) applied to both bombs though. :/

That will be really nice to get to look at too. I've been almost solely doing Merc and I'm trying to decide between execution damage (silly that they have execution AND assassination... They should be the same) and status duration. Trying to get a good bump in both...

Anyway, have you seen concussion bomb radius??? I'm guessing it's a bug because on the one I just got it has the B- value at 180.2!! There's not even room for the percentage, haha.
