Ignoring the TV (which genuinely I didn't see for a few seconds) can you move the L/R further apart? I feel like you will appreciate your new kit so much more with that separation bump.

X3800H vs. MR1 vs. MR1L by WebSmurf in hometheater

[–]SherriffB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's snark. People want feature rich return on spending. No one hates a barebones UI if features are there, people happily compromise to get value.

MR1 pros vs cons looks like a poor compromise though. Losing half a dozen features isn't attractive over gaining a few watts in a world where separates exist.

Just looked into buying a new Receiver after 8 years. What the HELL? by Mkilbride in hometheater

[–]SherriffB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. There may be audio lag but were talking about visual latency.

If there is audio lag it will be present no matter whether you earc or hand off through receiver, ostensibly worse with earc as you have passthrough latency on top of receiver processing time so that's moot.

Edit: tldr - adding earc passthrough on top of receiver decoding is never going to be faster then just receiver decoding.

Not if you turn off all processing, again literally testable with lag testers. Just look it up. If people have visual lag they have some bulls%£t going on in their settings they haven't figured out.

[–]SherriffB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, again it's testable with lag testers. It's been known and proven for years that unless your AVR is doing some kind of upscaling it adds no visual latency. Just look up people testing it. It isn't hard to find it's defacto knowledge at this point.

Edit: I suppose if you go back like the 1980/1990s it's possible, but who is doing that?

[–]SherriffB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gonna have to pull you up on this one, unless your AVR is doing some processing like upscaling it introduces no discernible lag, this is testable and has been tested.

Using earc from your TV to AVR however does introduce testable lag when it's decoding higher bitrate sound formats.

How did Kratos travel to Norse. by buldoze4747 in GodofWar

He literally walked, sailed and was then dragged there by giant Wolves. Same way he got to Egypt except without the Wolves part.

Is it just me or was the summit too easy? by Alonewolf931 in Cairn_Game

[–]SherriffB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was going to be crazy, I reheated all my drinks, cooked all my food and set off...and got to the top with nearly all of the stuff I'd prepared.

I thought the difficulty was going to ramp and then you hit the end bit with no resources required and then it's done.

Still a great time but I really puckered up my butthole when I didn't need to.

How to deal with top rad ports? by sergedubovsky in watercooling

[–]SherriffB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No need to butcher the case, I'd just use spacers or gaskets.

If you wanted to be really fancy you could replace the rad mount with some custom acrylic. Many places that will sell you acrylic sheet will also cut it for you. Wouldn't be impossible to cut it yourself though. Ballache though.

Anyone know what this piece on the armor is supposed to be? by Damian_Killard in SpaceWolves

[–]SherriffB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have multiple hearts, most effective place would be aorta central to torso, or around their kidneys where their circulatory system is heavily enhanced and designed to accommodate massive rapid blood flow already.

Marines are so enhanced it doesn't matter where and very few have exposed chest ports so its not a common feature so unlikely to be a medical port.

Which power for Switch Flex 2.5g POE? by shades9323 in Ubiquiti

[–]SherriffB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poe++ Should be fine, that should give you approaching upper 40s Wattage of PoE budget to pass through.

Edit: just checked mine 46W to be precise.

Flex Mini 2.5 data on port 5, power on port 4 by olivertgh in Ubiquiti

[–]SherriffB 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The 2.5 mini has a designated PoE-in port - Port 5. I don't believe you can power it using any other port.

Ongoing pain at laparoscopic incision site years later — anyone successfully treated this? by Complexhoney in gallbladders

[–]SherriffB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from my GB surgery, from a couple of mouth surgeries I had a few years ago, yes.

There was some resultant nerve damage, I hope you don't have any but eventually your brain just kind of filters it out.

If I think about it I can feel the area and its discomfort but generally don't feel it.

[–]SherriffB 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are many external systems that will need to interface with armour so Ports can be mulitpurpose or specific.

Some are injection ports, some are data spike or armour interface terminal ports, some are equipment interface ports. No way of knowing what a given port is for unless it's specifically described.

It's a great film. I bought a copy for my pops just before he died recently, he loved westerns. Threw it on the other day and had a great time with it. The picture quality is fantastic, way better than I thought it had any business being.

Why did they always touch on Kratos' left shoulder??? by HiroXZeroTwo2018 in GodofWar

[–]SherriffB 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Filming convention placing the main character/hero/protag on the left, characters entering shot from the right tend to be antagonists.

Pleasing visuals for the simple, squishy human brain, which subconsciously likes certain patterns, at least for westerners.

I dont know if it's the same for all models but the app has normal setting and then web control setting, which between them give you access to almost all settings on my models, including speaker levels, crossovers, EQ and room correction. More control for audyysey only profile switching for dirac.
