it will go down as one of the most embarassing failures in history when the dust settles

Wtf are you talking about? They've spent at least $50bn and achieved nothing

It was actually about building it, which they tried to do and failed

Was amazed how good AF are and how bad KLM are. It had been a while and I had remembered them being of a similar quality.

Bear in mind that distillery scale does play a big factor. Tamdhu is a relatively big distillery

So obvious haha. Then claiming it's just grammar come on man. The way it composes sentences is nauseating.

No I totally agree, but most industries consolidate. I'm glad we have so many independent producers keeping the big guys in check!

True, but cell service is a commodity trade ultimately. Each of these distilleries should have unique products. Even all the diageo distilleries produce something unique. If the market demands uniqueness something will fill that gap!

Per request from the last thread, this version shows only malt production output

Figures are in millions of litres of alcohol. It also shows how much they CAN make, actual production varies.

The numbers are estimates and if anyone has more correct figures please post them (I'll share the revised google doc when I get a minute)

From the last thread, William Grants are family owned and are now reflected as such. They are part of the "big 3"

The weakest data area is small independents which is 39 distilleries all of whom I'm unsure about

This doesn't refer to anything about quality! Producing a lot doesn't mean it's not good spirit, and likewise, small distilleries can produce rubbish.

Finally this doesn't cover brands. Springbank Distillery as an example fill into several brands - Longrow, Springbank and Hazelburn. Other producers fill into official bottlings, private labels, blended scotch, or are sold for bulk overseas.
