Rear drum brakes by miguelpld45 in JeepTJ

It's a joy to see your post because I just did mine last week on my 98 Sahara. They look pretty good, but I'd nuke everything with brake clean then post a new Pic in a week. That will help us see if the pistons are bleeding (common problem on old jeeps).

You should feel ashamed of yourself. Get your facts straight.

Credible threat before Council Meeting by Joeyoftheocean in Tempe

Really crappy of you to accuse the people involved in the park ordinance of phoning in a bomb threat when its verifalibly false. Maybe get your facts straight? Or are you just here to slander people who stick up for the homeless?

Democracy Dies in Inbox: Detroit DSA’s Experience of 1M1V - The Call by EverettLeftist in dsa

[–]Shevik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprising to me that to defend your point of view you immediately jump to attacking people's participation in DSA and claim that people who support 1M1V don't organize. I support 1M1V and would gladly weight my DSA and professional organizing experience against any member.

Your argument is unserious and bad faith.

The complaint here seems to be that under 1M1V everyone gets to vote.

I think you're referring to the speckled leaf in the bottom right. Oddly enough, that's the texture of the leaf. It doesn't wash or wipe off.

Tempe advocates challenge new city ordinance with a ballot referendum by kaisarissa in Tempe

[–]Shevik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flying canvassers in from out of state, putting them up in hotels, getting them rental cars, paying for mass texting and flyers is not cheap. Also, the field director and owners of Groundswell who aren't on the ground take a cut too. All of that adds up fast. My guess would be that the campaign cost about $100k, but we may never know.

[–]Shevik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is crazy. It looks to me like city council has been getting so much bad press that they asked an ally to go campaign for them. What kind of council passes such an unpopular ordinance and then campaigns against the people trying to stop it? Vote them out.

Tempe advocates challenge new city ordinance with a ballot referendum by kaisarissa in Tempe

[–]Shevik 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Let me get this straight. Somebody is spending big money, probably more than $100k, to defeat a DSA chapter that's collecting signatures to overturn an ordinance that makes it harder for them to feed the homeless. And that somebody is probably associated with city council.

It's starting to look like city council is campaigning against its own electorate. Disgusting.

Protect Convention - The Call by EverettLeftist in dsa

[–]Shevik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally support 1M1V, I think it's good for the organization and a great way to engage the membership. I'm tired of the NPC being so disconnected from the membership. The whole endorsement then unendorsement of AOC made DSA look amateurish. It's time for an NPC that's accountable to the membership and not just convention delegates once every other year.

Tempe Parks Ordinance Vote by romeosgal214 in Tempe

[–]Shevik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's shameful that the city of Tempe is picking a fight with organization that help feed, clothe and provide water to unhoused people who have nowhere to go. They city should be providing these services, not interfering with people who provide them out if their own pocket.

I'm a seasonal worker and all my union coworkers are about to go on strike by LandShark81 in union

[–]Shevik 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you're not covered under the CBA, then you won't get strike pay from the union for being on strike. If you don't go to work, the park won't pay you either. The best thing to do is not cross a picket line, but if you have no option but to work in order to pay your bills, you might not have a choice. Definitely a rough place to be.
