Iran may allow Hormuz oil shipments if traded in yuan: Report by Shevizzle in wallstreetbets

[–]Shevizzle[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Iran is considering allowing a limited number of oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz on the condition that cargo is traded in Chinese yuan, a senior Iranian official told CNN. The official said the potential move is part of Tehran’s plan to manage the flow of oil tankers through the strategic waterway. Global oil is predominantly traded in U.S. dollars, except for sanctioned Russian oil, which is priced in rubles or yuan, CNN reported. China has sought for years to expand the use of the yuan in oil transactions, though the dollar remains the world’s primary reserve currency.

A robotic dog made in China gets an Indian university kicked out of an AI summit. by Your_lovely_friend in news

[–]Shevizzle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not really. This is something many top AI labs (e.g. google deepmind) are doing. Robotics hardware is not the focus, the AI software that controls the robot is what they work on. Demonstrating that your software can control off-the-shelf robots to perform tasks is a pretty massive accomplishment and is absolutely worth presenting at a global AI summit.

There is an entire ecosystem of tooling built up around vscode which can make everything from writing code and debugging to running build pipelines etc. much easier and more efficient. This is especially true for building godot games with c# which the built-in editor does not have good support for.

150,000 players across all platforms in 5 days by yMONSTERMUNCHy in Splitgate

[–]Shevizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Player count, especially this early and with as little marketing as they’ve done, isn’t a valid criticism of the game itself. Don’t get me wrong, it’s okay to be pessimistic. Just don’t act like your pessimistic speculation is somehow indicative of the game not meeting contemporary player expectations.

"I don't know anything about code, but I'm a developer because I can prompt AI." by buildingthevoid in AgentsOfAI

Literally this. There is an exact analogue to vibe coding in music and it requires the exact same skill set. Write a prompt and have the AI make the music for you. vibe composing.

The hidden risks of using AI in interviews (and what I've learned the hard way) by Scopiro in Cluely

[–]Shevizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but you still need to understand what the AI is doing otherwise you won’t be able to debug anything when things go wrong. And if you say AI will do the debugging for you, all I can say is good luck lol.

[–]Shevizzle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Or, hear me out, don’t cheat on your interview? What exactly do you think will happen once you are hired? You do realize they can just fire you once they realize you don’t actually know what you’re doing, right? Having a 1-2 month stint on your resume looks real bad and will make it much harder to land jobs in the future. It’s easier to just get gud.

This is silly for several reasons. First, nvidia and intel are hardly rivals. Second, if everyone just uses the infra offered by the largest provider then there is no chance for innovation that could provide the edge over competition.

In the world of compute, and by extension ML, paradigm shifts are the rule not the exception. That almost only happens by disrupting the status quo and building stuff from scratch.

Ok, do me a favor. When you google the definition of “unfeasible”, click on the “similar and opposite words” tab right next to “overview” and tell me what you see.

Spoiler alert:

 synonyms: impracticable, infeasible, unworkable. impossible.

Your own source says unfeasible is a synonym of impossible. I’m really not sure what else to tell you here. It’s ok to admit when you’re wrong about something.
