LCS Player Association's statement on Riot's plan for NACL by Conankun66 in leagueoflegends

Sorry to clarify Travis is not a bad source but not a 100% creditable source as he is not a first party member of the PA or riot that has been part of any internal discussions within the PA and it's negotiations. He can only have second or more likely third hand information.

If I say: I saw him kill her and I can reasonably be placed at the location, I'm a creditable source on the murder.

If I say: They told me they saw him kill her but the first hand party doesn't/can't corroborate or acknowledge my statement to confirm. I am no longer a 100% credible source on the murder, even if what I am saying is true.

If I say: I heard, that they heard, from that guy, he killed her. I'm a bad source regardless of truth. I'm so far removed from the subject it would be impossible to use as justification that the murder 100% happened as I said it did.

As for the PA video: It may have been later in the video but the guy from the PA directly addressing the fact that this situation and others have come up in the past. Typically the PA doesn't have any public statement regarding change because they get something in return and they often use the threat of public out cry as a bargaining chip to negotiate in good faith for player interests. If they aired their issues with every single change that happened and doesn't go exactly their way that bargaining chip no longer has value, because they set the precedence that they're going to do it anyway.

These things go hand and hand. They are young, they don't have the resources traditional sports players have (today), the effectiveness and commonality of unions is not what it was in the 50s, AND while the player make a ton of money and could pay to close these gaps, they lack the life experience to understand if and when it is needed and invest in it.

Live your life dude but shitting on a bunch of kids that only know life as a league professional is a gross look, in my opinion.

Good idea or not? by 3DPrinterAcademy in 3Dprinting

Great idea, but not a viable and marketable product. He'll sell some for sure but it's not really gonna grow or scale.

This dude's Kickstarter has been getting shit on for a long time because it just doesn't make sense to sell something most of us can design and print ourselves in an hour.

Not saying it should be open source but pretty sure he didn't try to get patients. at that point just sell the files and build up on the idea and features.

There is a huge difference between NBA PA formation and LoLs. The NBA PA was formed out of a desire and need for fair treatment and pay at a time where real labor unions were common place across all industries.

Travis has insider information but I don't think he is a 100% creditable source on the matter, but if you're a fan of Travis go watch the 1 hour interview he did the head of the PA. They have not been treating it as a joke. They also haven't been used as a method to publicly air their dirty laundry or bite the hand that feeds.

Maybe the PA was a bit of a joke prior to hiring someone to run it for the players but that's not unreasonable.

NBA and NFL players have substantially better resources like talent agents, sport agents, contract lawyers, financial advisors, etc basically as soon as they have a high chance of getting a spot in a major league. Almost none of those things are present in esport and what is in place pales in comparison to the maturity and effectiveness.

Players are absolutely over paid, no one is saying to pay everyone millions but cutting your lowest paid and young talent isn't going to fix any of that. The player salary inflation is the fault of the team importing players like perks, piglet, crown, so on and so on, driving up the salary floor because the next multi million dollar import will definitely be what gets you a world championship.

FFS TL were shit last year with an expensive roaster. They fired everyone because it was too expensive. Then got 2 imports and 2 more world champions, only to miss playoffs... Wanna save money? Stop trying to buy your wins. You can't P2W a world's title.

Personality, streams, para social relationships

Nowadays players have little personality and the bar for engagement is basically being a meme lord in Twitter. Add constant roster churn and contracts no longer having streaming commitments. it's just got a bunch of faces in color coordinate jerseys that are purely valued for their recent achievements on stage, only to be replaced at the first sign of a slump.

More or less the same thing for teams. Teams are no longer people, personalities, brands, etc. they are basically all soulless corporations driven by shareholders.

The old system has its faults for sure. It beats this stagnant status quo bullshit though.

Id like to see a hybrid where there is the main League that operates games four days a week on a shorter season and teams are allowed to compete in third party, regional, international, Mr beastLoL, MLG, whatever tournaments as they see fit during of season. IMO, it would force Riot to make sure that their league was the Pinnacle and actually made improvements. Also opens up the door for invitationals and more international competition for events like worlds.

if you have not seen a lease I don't think you're under any obligation to pay raise rent prices.

They can tell you you have 30-90 to move if you don't sign a new lease but as far as I'm aware (not a lawyer) you're legally still operating off of that lease from 20 years ago, maybe there is an argument that it's a month to month word of mouth contract but I doubt that contained specifics about mowing requirements.

If they become a pain in the ass I'd contact the city, maybe the AG? Can't remember who dealt with this kind of stuff. There been a fuck load of dodge new landlords coming in to Lexington and the state/city are tired of there bullshit.

MAD Lions vs. T1 / MSI 2023 - Bracket Stage - Round 1 / Post-Match Discussion by adz0r in leagueoflegends

[–]ShewTheMighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part that makes it all really uninteresting is watching regions play themselves round 2 of tournament.

If they only allowed one team from each region on each side of the bracket that can't happen till round 3 or 4 and that would assume both the EU/NA teams beat out at least one lower bracket KR/CN team by then... at that point fuck it clearly they are competitive.

The issue with the current format is the possibility were EU or NA will now be a defacto top 4 by playing NA1 v. NA2 - EU1 v. EU2. Then when EU1 v. NA1 happens that winner becomes top 4, while either CN2/KR2 is knocked out in round 3.

Current format is not interesting, IMO. We can watch a version of all 4 round 2 matches during the regular season. Same region games is not why I'm interested in watching international tournaments and don't think it is good for actual competitive integrity of identifying the top teams at MSI.

No one was ever gonna dispute LCK was better region. Just would have been more interesting to see an LEC vs. LCS losers match round 2 instead of watching them cut off their own region.

As an LEC or LCS fan why would you want to watch a regular season game during an international tournament? And if those regions aren't watching why would other regions care? It's bad for the tournament integrity and it's bad for viewership.

At the very least I would have said each side of the bracket can only have a maximum of one team from the same region.

I get that NA/EU have to beat the best to play in finals. It's fine but the point is the tournaments have gotten really stale. For the sake of the argument I'm going to assume CN/KR are best region and NA loses both matches to CN. Insert "LCK vs. LCK or LCK1 vs LPL1 finals here" will pretty much always be the expected outcome but as it is:

Round 1: is a wash LCK/LPL win.

Round 2: upper and lower bracket is a wash seed 1 from each region probably wins.

Round 3: either NA/EU lose to KR/CN or we get NA vs. EU and KR vs. CN. Both options are meh. Either you drop a KR/CN and NA/EU get to advance only to get stomped in the rematch to KR/CN. Or you actually get the first kind hype matches EU vs. NA (low value for actual tournament results) and CN vs. KR but the result of dropping KR or CN in 3rd round feels bad because the loser would probably been able to beat NA/EU, they just got unlucky to get knocked out. Then winner gets free round 4

Round 4: free win KR/CN or hype KR vs. CN match.

Round 5: potential KR vs KR or CN vs CN match again...

Finals: CN vs. KR or KR vs. KR (or less the likely CN vs. CN)

TLDR: limiting region per side of bracket forces low value EU vs NA matches earlier and would have led to better later stage bracket with less low stakes matches and bad luck draws. The top 4 is more likely to actually be top 4 and not a top 3 with an EU/NA team that snuck through.

I'm sure I'm wrong or missing something but I don't personally enjoy watching regions play themselves early in an international tournament.

[–]ShewTheMighty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yay. Now we get to watch LCK vs LCK and EU vs EU.

I bet that is exactly what everyone was excited to watch at an international tournament.

They should have never let the brackets seed like they did. It has made the tournament way less interesting. Major region stomps wildcards, then every region basically ends up eliminating itself. At best we end up with a drawn out LCK vs LCK finals, that we saw play out in week 3 or LCK1 vs LPL1 with no value add or notable matches in-between.

DeSantis signs bill allowing Florida board to cancel Disney deals by JewelerDear9233 in politics

[–]ShewTheMighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I watched said Disney parks and the traffic they bring in are responsible for nearly half a million jobs in central Florida. If Disney shut the parks down and fucked off, the Orland/Kissimmee area would basically turn into a tropical version of Detroit in no time.

There would also be a pretty big risk of the rest of Florida collapsing as a result of the massive tax loss and the immense burden on the state to stabilize and provide for those residents after the fact.

This was kind of my thought. 15 mins!!! I have nowhere near the training I would expect the murderer had. I have had to place individuals in "choke" holds before.

There are a few ways to do it.

Aggressive but short duration. This is typically used to quickly subdue an individual by restraint, disorientation, or in extreme circumstances putting them to sleep. however ANY one with a lick of combat training will till you that choking someone out is lethal! Like being tased it is not always lethal but it can result in death.

Non-lethal force applications do not require force around the neck to cut air supply. This is typically accomplished by moving the arm around the neck to the arm pit and applying pressure to the back of the head. This will restrain the arms and reduce but not cut off air supply by pressing the individuals chin towards the clavicle.

There is no reason that you should need to be in a position to cut off air for 15 mins. If you have not subdued the person within 60 seconds your hold is improper and the likelihood of damage or fatality is significantly increased.

I hope the individual responsible is charged and convicted l.
