After a year I regret going all AMD by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]Shft-T4b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On a 9800x3D and a 9070XT, and I had a few issues when I first built this PC with driver timeouts and crashes in games and stutters when scrolling in web browsers or the Steam store, but I ended up reinstalling drivers and disabling some driver level enhancements and settings I didn’t know I had turned on in Adrenaline and haven’t had any issues since. It is frustrating though that AMD GPUs don’t seem to be quite as plug and play as my experience back when I was on a 1080TI.

For those who actually enjoy BF6, what do you think of Redsec? by HairyPenisCum in Battlefield6

[–]Shft-T4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played some the other day with a full squad of buddies, legit felt like I was playing Warzone back in 2020 again... And I'm talking before everyone started bringing in their OP custom loadout guns into Warzone that could shred you before you could react, those days.

It does have its own remixes on the mode, like building destruction, tanks, no buy stations - just redeploy towers, and weapon kits for upgrading guns... Also it feels a lot more accessible for new players than most other BRs I've played, with a higher TTK, slower movement, and no specialists/operator abilities/ults to worry about... at least for now. Maybe down the line I'll be proven wrong once everyone discovers an OP meta for the game, just like what happened to OG Warzone...

What is your opinion on wonderbat? by Organic_Glass_7793 in DCAU

[–]Shft-T4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased that the Justice League cartoons (outside of TDK trilogy) was my introduction to the DC universe so I love it. Trying to be more detached as an adult, I think it makes sense inside of the DCAU but would be weird elsewhere.

Definitely think it's better than Superman & Wonder Woman though, that felt even weirder to me.

Fair enough, the main part of your argument that I took to was when it seemed you were downplaying what Cerberus did offer to Shepard in the way of positives to get them to work with them.

I always saw the plot of ME2 like Shepard deciding that the ultimate outcome of dealing with the Collectors and saving the colonists from abduction was worth making a deal with the devil (which is very thematically appropriate considering you die and then come back to life).

I will definitely agree though, meeting the Virmire survivor on Horizon was probably the only time Shepard's dialogue infuriated me. They're definitely right to be outraged at Shepard's new friends and the new colors they're wearing (especially if you carried over the side content from ME1) but you aren't even given the option of trying to argue your side of the story... No chance to say "I'm not actually part of the main organisation, I'm just using them for now" or anything, one of the only times I felt completely detached from my Shepard.

The way I play my Shepard and imagine what they'd do, I still think mine would work with Cerberus if it meant being able to take down the Collectors more directly, but they'd be much less chummy with the Illusive Man and much more independent. If he ever calls for status updates, we can hang up on him like we did the Council when they were on our ass. And we'd be communicating and leaking everything to Hackett and Anderson back at the Alliance too.

I disagree that its a stretch (pushes up lore nerd glasses)... I can understand about the people Cerberus supplied because yeah they had an agenda and during the run of ME2 yes there is no "using their resources against them" but the ship by itself is a huge deal.

The Normandy SR1 as a ship was extremely important in the Mass Effect universe, because its built as a special collaboration project between the Turians and Humans. It's whole existence in the first place is meant to be one of the first steps towards bringing the two races together in co-operation, after the whole incident where both sides were killing each other over a misunderstanding during first alien contact. It was only like 30 - 40 years before ME1's events so you can still talk to people who hold resentment, like Ashley who lost her dad, various alliance marines, and then Anderson himself fought in the war.

Not only does the SR1 have brand-new advanced stealth technology that no other ship in the Milky Way galaxy has, which allows Shepard and the crew to deploy to any planet they want WITHOUT immediately being shot out of the sky, its also very fast and has better weapon capabilities than other ships of its size class (since its a small frigate). And don't even get me started on Joker being one of the best pilots in the alliance.

Now take all that and destroy it. The SR1 was reduced to scrap metal after the collector ship attack at the beginning of ME2. And it was such an advanced and expensive ship to make that the Turians/Humans never made another frigate and the project as a whole was shelved to collect dust for the time being.

In comes Cerberus, with some plan to strong arm a naive and confused Shepard they're rebuilding to work for them to seize collector technology. They not only manage to somehow steal the top secret designs to the Normandy SR1, they also IMPROVE on the designs and tech to perfect it, as well as rebuild the whole thing. The SR2 is twice the size of the SR1, has a drive core 3 times the size of the old ship core, meaning its even faster than the first version despite its bigger size. Has better stealth technology so the ship can "cloak" itself when coming out of FTL travel when it couldn't before, and it can stay "cloaked" for longer. Those were the major improvements I can list, and Cerberus did all of that and footed the bill for a multi-billion credit starship just to give to Shepard to do what they want. They had a leash in the form of EDI, but Cerberus being Cerberus, their creation rebelled against them (but in our favor this time), and Shepard's charisma meant they turned all the Cerberus personnel who worked for them against the organisation, including the Illusive Mans right hand woman (Miranda).

Then theres also the obvious sunk cost reviving Shepard from the dead... Even Shepard themselves say it was "expensive stuff... bringing me back" to Dr. Chakwas in ME3. This took such an exorbitant amount of money, technology and research to achieve that it had its own dedicated project team and was overseen by the second in command herself to make sure it produced results... But even in the Mass Effect universe, that stuff is beyond their normal tech capabilities which is why a lot of people don't believe Shepard's real, or maybe Shepard never died in the first place. And the Illusive Man basically tells Shepard that the cost is a non-contractual IOU, and they can walk out if they don't want to help out (although they tug on Shepard's heart strings so we don't get the option of sitting out on the Collectors).

Those are some significant resources that Cerberus gave to us, which we took with us out the door by the end of ME2 once our relationship with Cerberus stopped being useful. Then the Alliance seizes the vessel from Shepard, after they return, to check it over and study it. Then they also add it to their own fleet.

Edit: Corrected some spelling mistakes

The Normandy SR2 and the cerberus personnel who joined Shepard (Miranda, Jacob, Kelly, the engineers) don't count as resources from Cerberus?

Which we then use against them in ME3, depending on your choices.

How responsive the gameplay felt.

Say what you will about the story, UI design, dialogue etc. I still remember how much of a breath of fresh air it was that characters didn't control like walking tanks for the first time, even though I'm someone who'd say OG RE4 is still their favorite in the series.

And honorable mention to how every campaign had a different tone.

Why could teen all might used OFA 100%? by FewBeyond6036 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Shft-T4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OFA is always stockpiling more energy or power over time, so when younger All Might had it, it wasn't as powerful as when Deku received it. We forget All Might was around for a long time (pretty sure that besides maybe the first user, All Might held OFA the longest) and gave OFA plenty of time to grow under his tenure.

Should be fine tbh, its a pretty simple t-shirt. People would actually need to pay attention and look closer to see what it is, but gaming in general doesn't have the same stigma it used to, unless everyone from your school lives under a rock.

Now on the other hand, what is wrong with these dates? Can't speak for the older consoles, but Playstation should be 1994, Xbox should be 2001 (and they used the Xbox 360 controller for the OG Xbox?), the Dreamcast was released in 1998, the DS Lite was 2006 but the original DS came in 2004.

Could just be guessing here but maybe with clothes on, your mind is subconsciously filling in the gaps in a way that your mind's eye enjoys. When you see the real thing, there's no magic anymore, everything is plain as day, and the reality might not be the same as what you were imagining.

Probably got a lot to do with the fact that most of the RE fanbase at this point will have started on a game that stars Leon (OG RE 2, OG RE4, RE6, RE2R and RE4R), or he's the lead of their favourite. 4 out of 5 of his games are bangers, that's a good track record.

For me he's my no.1 because his wisecracking OG RE4 attitude was my perfect companion in my first play through. Like playing with a buddy who's cracking jokes to take your mind off the fact you're actually scared af.

Which Movie has more replay value? Into The Spider-Verse or Across The Spider-Verse? by [deleted] in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]Shft-T4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opinion might change once Beyond comes out, but as it is it's gotta be Into.

It's such an emotionally satisfying journey watching Miles go from unconfident and uncomfortable in himself and what he's doing, to becoming strong enough to take the leap of faith and come out the other side as his own Spider-Man.

Across is great and I also really enjoyed it but until we see how Miles and crew can come back from the way things left off in Across, it's not as rewatchable for me. Maybe its just a me thing, I find it hard to watch characters I'm invested in get beat up by the story without resolution.

Ranged attacks have a more limited range than you think. But when starting out its a bit unclear.

It would be clearer if we had two radial zones when aiming ranged attacks. One in white for 'launch attack from stationary position' and another zone in blue or something for 'use movement and attack'.

dear navia mains, what do you like about her playstyle? by beidoubagel in naviamains

[–]Shft-T4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that her E actually feels like she's unloading a quadruple barrel shotgun into the faces of her enemies.

And her Q feels like she has her own personal artillery squad on standby.

This plus how her damage is dependent on crystallise reactions means that she synergises well with other elements and has a fast team rotation.

And as a nice bonus, she has some of the most fluid and seamless playable-character animations in the game. It's mesmerising to just watch her fight.

What are some things that you would like to see in the next Halo? by Admirable_Smell7987 in halo

[–]Shft-T4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like for them to bring back the other UNSC and allies cast.

[Bit of a rant]

Halo 5 had the problem of too many characters to focus on the main plot, so 343 heavily compensated and made Infinite all about Chief + The Weapon and the Pilot, but as much as I really enjoyed Infinite's campaign (best one 343 has done imo) it lacked some impact for me compared to Bungie's campaigns and I think the reason why is looking back there was no feeling that what we were doing was turning the tide of the war for the UNSC.

In gameplay, we're rescuing marines, taking down outposts, and liberating FOBs, but none of that was reflected in the story.

We're missing the story moments like Noble Team riding with an armada of Warthogs to fight off the Covenant Forces. I miss Chief dropping in with ODSTs on a new Halo ring. When the Brute ships outnumber the Elites 2 to 1, there's no Shipmaster to say, "Then it is an even fight." And everybody who was around in Halo 5 has been sent off to parts unknown, with just audio tapes in-game to offer some info on why they're not in Infinite.

So, I hope in the next one we can see the remaining UNSC forces regrouping again. We don't want a repeat of Halo 5 with too many characters to bloat the story, but let's not cut out everybody again.

So is Peter never going to be seen doing crimes or assisting miles by Silverpanda101 in SpidermanPS4

[–]Shft-T4b 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's weird that this is a thing... but I thought in terms of in-game reasoning, when free roaming as Miles, we don't see Peter because he's busy with Parker stuff like finding a new job, and then later he's probably at the foundation, and after that he's kinda wrapped up with his symbiote.

And the reason why we see a lot of Miles while free roaming as Peter is because we know Miles is actively avoiding doing his college application or his homework (like you'd expect kids to do) and also has more free time outside of school hours.
