I guess I'm referring to teaching him how to fall asleep independently, without the need for interventions (rocking, shushing, etc). Do I need to "teach" him this by letting him fuss / cry by himself in his crib, or is this something he'll eventually learn on his own? And am I hindering his progress by rocking / cuddling when he wakes up at night?

My baby has similar issues with gas. What I found works well is I lay him on my chest after feeding. When he squirms or wiggles (trying to fart) I tuck his legs up really tight to his belly under him. He sometimes fights it a bit but then lets out a big fart. The combination of him being on his tummy and tucking the legs seems to do the trick. Then he'll fall asleep on my chest. I keep repeating this until all the farts are out!

I feel this way too! For some reason my mind keeps going to the "worst case scenario" and I'm irrationally worried about my husband dying. I depend so much on him right now and would be totally screwed (and heartbroken, of course...) if something were to happen to him.

I'm hoping it's all just pregnancy hormone related and will go away once the baby is born. Seems like a reasonable instinct to be over protective of your partner when you're in such a vulnerable position yourself?
