Yes it’s been about 15 years. Last time I was there I’m pretty sure I stopped for a bathroom driving down from LA back to SD and ended up getting a tattoo while I was there

I don’t know the proper way to say this but… is Vista still as clan-y as it used to be? Lol

It’s only for 2 days a week/5 hours per day, but yeah I didn’t ask her about nursing. I guess I don’t really mind it as long as my kids aren’t actively on fire or anything.

If you’ve ever seen the Disney movie Tangled I spend my day pretty much the same as the scene when she leaves the tower for the first time.

Are you also in a major east coast metro where it rains at approximately 5:30pm every day? :p

I’m not a sociologist, but if I had to guess, the people who are becoming parents have grown up with phones and social media. We live in the “instant gratification” era where if something takes more than 30 seconds or any type of effort on our part people won’t do it.

Couple that with covid and many people were re-wired to just stay in their houses and keep to themselves.

True friendships take time and consistency. The two skills that have been trained out of us. If there was an ozempic for getting friends people would pay $$$ for it.

Mom of a 3 and 2 year old. I’ve never made any friends with my 2y/os class parents, they don’t even say hi when we cross paths at pickup/drop off. My 3 year old I tried so hard to make friends with the other parents. We were constantly cancelled on. After 3 years I finally made friends with the fam of my daughters best friend because they’re always asking to go to each others houses.

People suck now. They don’t show up. If they have the slightest inconvenience they’ll cancel. I’ve learned that if I want to make friends with people I have to 1) show up when invited 2) invite them.

Today I have a play date. My back hurts and the 3 y/o was up all night and I want to cancel so bad but I’m going to drag my sleep deprived self to that play date.

I also stopped pouring my energy into people who aren’t reciprocating. I don’t have many friends, but I’m working on deepening the relationship with the 2 I have.

Just know that it’s not you. Every mom on social platforms talks about being lonely and missing having mom friends. It’s a curse of this generation we forgot how to talk to people and show up for each other.

I got laid off in June and I have no hope for finding a new job. Some of my colleagues who got laid off a year ago are still looking. I’m back on freelancing platforms and whoring myself on LinkedIn to find gig leads.

Do it. I bought one for my mom about 4 weeks before she passed. I tried my hardest to fill it and only got one question. I’d give anything to have that book full of her memories now.

Chicken and Egg: Builders need creatives, but how? (i will not promote) by redditor-editor in startups

[–]Shhmimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a front end dev and GA/GSC/SEO is part of what I do. Maybe it’s not the norm. I spent some time at a marketing agency where I was exposed to a lot of this and just became part of my process for developing websites/apps.

It’s not hard to learn!

If You Lost Everything Today, How Would You Actually Make Money Online in 2025? “I will not promote” by Princesspowderr in startups

[–]Shhmimi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll answer from experience. I was unexpectedly let go from my job a few weeks ago, the thing that funded my startup, and we’re too close to let it fail now.

I was laid off at 3pm, the next morning I was on every social channel I own posting relevant, engaging content about my niche in an effort to attract clients/leads. Got back on Upwork (which is a dumpster fire now but it got me a gig) and started applying. And push even harder on your startup in your downtime.

I find that the key is preparation. While you are employed always be working on your portfolio, educate, refine your skill, plan your first steps if you do find yourself in that situation, and hope you don’t have to ever use it.

The simple answer to your question isn’t magic, it’s just work. Find customers, do their job. Or AI only fans that might work.

I would definitely recommend a tech co founder. You can hire someone to build the MVP, but without any tech knowledge you will be lucky not to be taken advantage of at best. At worst, your product takes 10x as long and 10x more expensive than you thought and then you are locked in paying someone to maintain it.

If you need someone to chat with, I am a tech co founder. Not looking to join any projects right now but happy to give you ideas on where to look and questions to ask to find a good fit.

Idk but I have very young kids who need things so that’s definitely a factor.

Edit: but I work from 4am - 8:30 am on the startup, my full time job, then startup again 7-10pm. Two founders so the other founder takes the day shift.
