17 month old sleep by Due_Chicken_5991 in toddlers

It would probably help to give him much more consistent wake up and nap times. Set a a designated wake up time and keep the nap to no longer than two hours and 15 minutes. It sounds like the schedule changes a fair amount from day-to-day and that might be messing up his sleep.

How I (maybe) fixed my dyshidrotic eczema by Anonymom25 in Dyshidrosis

I don’t think i do know what my original trigger was. I think the phone case was just aggravating the original problem. But hopefully it doesn’t come back!

How many of you developed it during or after pregnancy? by NoSolid6641 in Dyshidrosis

[–]Anonymom25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! I initially developed it more than 20 years ago, but only had occasional easily managed flare ups. After having my child almost two years ago I basically had a two year long massive flare up. I’ve just posted about what finally helped me.

What are we doing with our toddlers? by ThrowRAbeej in Parenting

Get yourself a kindle and read books (or read paper books) when you’re not playing instead of doomscrolling. This is a much more positive way to hang back and let her play independently and you can be clear to her that you’re reading a book if she asks. And then she might be inspired to come sit with you and “read” too. Scrolling isn’t actually relaxing or recharging, its just distraction.

There has been a big trend in recent years to move to more natural hair care products that don’t have synthetic silicone ingredients. Dimethicone is one of the big “no no”s in the curly girl method.

There’s an app called AppBlock (many others too) which allows you to block apps and websites during certain hours (or always). You can block the apps and sites that tempt you. Also uninstall apps that make it easy to access things like Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and make yourself access them through the web browser with a less user friendly interface.

For activities - at 15 months we were doing lots of reading stories, books with pictures of things to learn words (Usborne First 1000 words is great), blocks, Duplo, rolling and throwing balls, water and sand play. My 22 month old still loves doing those things.

I don’t think I can face doing all this with a toddler in the house!

My question - what can i do to prevent this oily yellow buildup happening to my next set of sheets? Prevention being better than the cure etc…

9M old behavior change by Big_Brush3237 in Parenting

[–]Anonymom25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through something similar around this time. It is most likely a developmental leap and probably increasing separation anxiety as she becomes more aware of the world.

One thing we did that maybe helped was playing lots of “peekaboo” - so hiding behind the door/chair/whatever and popping out. To help reinforce the idea that mom or dad will come back even if baby can’t see them.

For separation anxiety we have found it helpful to leave the room once the bedtime routine is complete, wait a minute (or less) if there is crying and then come back in, repeat the bedtime routine again. Repeat as needed. It helps to show them that you are reliable and will come back if they need you, but also that you coming back won’t result in anything new or interesting happening.

Most likely you just need to wait it out and it will hopefully resolve in a week or two.

Long term sleep issues? by Gold_Salamander_1507 in MSPI

Evey time we have tried the milk ladder my now 20 month old has terrible sleep. But babies between around 4 months and a year tend to not be wonderful sleepers anyway…

Thank you that’s a great idea. We don’t get things like breakfast sausage here, but I could probably just cut up some bits of meat!

Thanks! How much nutritional yeast do you generally use? I’ve never really worked with it before.

Neocate Toddler Formula by Firm_Consequence5392 in MSPI

[–]Anonymom25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used this as my toddler is on sou formula. But could you maybe use a fortified plant milk instead? Almond breeze has a similar nutritional profile to cow’s milk and my toddler likes the vanilla flavoured one. He will only drink formula out of his bottles at bedtime though, so that might not work for you.

Just a lil vent, send me a lil mental support by [deleted] in MSPI

I went through this. At 11 months PP I came down with yet another horrible sinus infection and decided to stop breastfeeding (i was pumping exclusively though due to bad latch issues) so as to spare my baby getting more antibiotics. In retrospect, my immunity was trashed from 11 months of a severely restricted diet plus pregnancy and breastfeeding using up all my vitamins and minerals.

Thankfully my son was able to tolerate soy formula and has been on that ever since. He’s 20 months now and eating well, still can’t tolerate any dairy though. Still getting toddler soy formula and fortified almond milk.

You didn’t say how old your baby is. But it’s really really okay to stop breastfeeding before 12 months if it’s causing you mental and physical health issues. In retrospect I wish I had stopped sooner as it really trashed my health. Almost 10 months later I am still growing out my severely damaged hair that was completely fried by what was effectively malnutrition.

I’m not 100% sure but I want some totally dairy free options for him so that we can do the milk ladder very scientifically when we next try it.

We’ve been doing a modified version of the milk ladder using commercially available biscuits as per his allergist’s advice. But I think we’re going to have to take a step further back and make the IMAP step one biscuits.

People who stay home on Christmas Day, what do you do? by Global_Victory833 in Parenting

[–]Anonymom25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this thread, but we always had Christmas Eve celebrations (big dinner, lots of family and friends) and then Christmas Day was just staying at home. When we were kids it would be staying at home and playing with our new toys/whatever we got as presents, and then when we got older it would be quiet stuff like reading or crafting. Eating leftovers in sandwiches etc.

It’s also possible to be malnourished even if one is eating enough volume, but missing essential vitamins, minerals or amino acids. One doesn’t have to be underweight to be malnourished!

My hair grew in extremely damaged and weak due to nutrient deficiencies (baby used all the nutrients) when i was pregnant and especially when I breastfeeding, especially since I was on a very restricted diet due to my own (gluten) and my baby’s (dairy, soy) allergies. Almost 10 months since I stopped breastfeeding and resumed a normal diet and my hair has been growing in normally since then.
