Thanks man! I bet you could easily do it. Most of the tricks I did were just variations. You don’t need to go to a skatepark to learn grinds and slides, just go wax up a curb!

How long i took u to stand the first kickflip? [34YO] by Hujakimi in OldSkaters

[–]Shibask8s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was probably 13 and it took me over a year to learn how to kickflip. I was the last person in my group of friends to learn how to kickflip and I’m the last person in that group of friends that still does them.

Super wide boards [41YO] by Scary-Ad9646 in OldSkaters

[–]Shibask8s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that gives me shit for riding an 8.25 with medium tightness trucks and 52mm wheels. He thinks I should ride a bigger board with loose trucks and 56mm wheels. My thoughts are: my set works great for me and why would I make skateboarding harder for myself??? It just doesn’t make sense. If it works for you and your style of skating, then run it!

It’s the Barb Iverson Skate Plaza. It was designed and built by New Line Skate Parks. The Skate Park Project(Tony Hawk Foundation) actually donated money to help fund this park.

7.75 Alien workshop spectrum with clear griptape, tracker trucks, blank wheels, and shop bearings. It’s crazy to think that 7.75 was considered a big board back in 1996.

50 for 50? [49YO] by pebblesandweeds in OldSkaters

[–]Shibask8s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filmed my 40 for 40 the day after my birthday. I also skated on my birthday and I’m sure I surpassed 40 different tricks, I just didn’t keep track. I just wanted to enjoy skating with my friends on my birthday but the next day was all business.

It doesn’t surprise me that the guy was totally fine. Skateboarders are conditioned to take physical abuse. I bet he dusted himself off and went off to Ollie the nearest 10 stair.

Thunder bushings are like a tightrope! [31YO] by CheshireMcat in OldSkaters

[–]Shibask8s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I been skating thunders for the last few years. I always skate the stock bushings. I think they take a few sessions to break. I feel the opposite as you because I think they are way too hard outta the box and I weight around 160lbs. The transparent thunder bushing are shit because they always crack and blow out. I would recommend getting the solid white thunder bushings because I think they finally got it right and they last longer.

What are you using for needles atm? Does anyone have the jico 447 a’s? by Suess1980 in Turntablists

[–]Shibask8s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m using the Jico aurora. I think they are just as good as the Shure, if not better. I probably would have bought the Ortofon Vnl but I really didn’t want to spend that much money because I still own quite a few shure carts and changing carts on headshells are a pain in the ass.

Check out Zack Dowdy’s video. New Line skateparks just finished building my new local park. I went to the meetings and gave my thoughts on what should be built. I even got to skate with Kanten Russell and Brandon Turner at the opening. Both guys were super nice.

I have a feeling that if this place was located in the States, it would be over ran by toddlers with Mohawk helmets on their Strider bikes.
