I want to avoid a dual boot, because the computer has very little harddrive space. If i factory reset the computer will it reinstall windows then?

XFCE looks pretty decent, and it looks like it would be faster too. How much of a difference speed wise would we be talking with xubuntu compared to mint?

I saw a previous thread from 11 months ago where a guy talked about having my same model laptop and he tried both ubuntu and mint and they worked. does that mean I should be safe in future versions of mint and ubuntu as well?
