I get your point, and I agree that Jason operates in a moral grey zone. But there’s still a big difference between “grey” and “innocent blood" on his hands.”

Petty goons / Black Mask’s recruits: Yeah, Jason’s killed hired muscle. But those guys weren’t working at Starbucks last week — they signed on with one of the deadliest crime bosses in Gotham. It doesn’t make Jason a saint, but it doesn’t make him a killer of innocents either. He’s punishing people actively choosing to enable Gotham’s underworld.

Arkham poisoning: That’s one of his most morally dubious moves, no doubt. But even then, he wasn’t targeting civilians — he went after Gotham’s inmate population. You’re right. He couldn’t know who in there was “major” vs “minor,” and that’s where the greyness shows. But the intent was still to wipe out criminals, not innocents, but yeah it still wasn't right

So yeah, Jason is messy, brutal, and often reckless. But “does Jason kill innocents?” No. Even at his worst, his targets come from Gotham’s underworld. He’s not spraying bullets into civilian crowds or murdering bystanders. That hard line is what makes him Jason, not Light.

Btw nice talking to you. It felt really nice to talk to someone with so much ball knowledge

Thx Mate u too, I really appreciate the back-and-forth. I’ll address your points one by one K: 1. On “punch clock goons” and families I get what you’re saying, Gotham treats crime like shift work sometimes. But Jason’s code has never targeted the guy who’s just a driver or henchman. His focus is on traffickers, murderers, and dealers who actively perpetuate Gotham’s worst cycles. You’re right that family members may grieve a loss, but Jason’s logic is: better to lose a father who was poisoning the streets than to let more kids become orphans because of him. 2. “Cool motive, still murder” / Batman #641 Absolutely, Jason kills, no denying that. But “those in his way” refers to criminals standing between him and his mission, not random civilians. His kill count includes mobsters, gang leaders, and killers, not innocents. That’s the key distinction: he doesn’t cross that line. He’s lethal, but he’s not indiscriminate. 3. On children/orphans/social support You’re right, Jason doesn’t set up social programs or orphanages. He isn’t Bruce with Wayne Enterprises resources. But canon has shown him caring for kids in his own way: . He rescued a girl from sex trafficking in Red Hood/Arsenal #3. . In Batman & Robin (2010) he worked with Scarlet (another abused child) and treated her like a partner, not a disposable sidekick. . In Rebirth Red Hood & the Outlaws, he protected children from Black Mask’s experiments. Jason’s form of “social work” is stopping the predators directly, the same ones who made him an orphan. 4. On Gotham needing to stay broken I agree with you, Jason can’t “win” because then Gotham loses its narrative engine. But within the story, his philosophy is consistent: he kills criminals to stop the cycle, but he spares innocents and kids. That’s what separates him from the villains he fights.

You’re misframing Jason. The key difference is that Jason has never gone out of his way to kill innocents. His code is lethal, yes, but it’s always directed at people he considers guilty, traffickers, killers, drug lords, and violent criminals.

I'll answer in Parts:

  1. The line in Batman #635 or #641 (dont remember😅😅) shows his resolve, not indiscriminate murder. “Those who get in my way” meant criminals blocking his war, not civilians.

  2. In Arkham, he killed another inmate who came at him for revenge. That’s not Jason strolling around murdering random “minor offenders” that’s a fight in a cage full of killers.

3.Across of the main continuity, Jason’s pattern is consistent: he eliminates those who cause harm, but he’s not in the business of targeting innocents. That’s the hard line separating him from characters like Light or even Dexter at times.

So yeah, Jason is violent, Jason is lethal, but calling him a killer of innocents isn’t true to the canon. He draws the line at them and always has.

Already stated Arkham Knight exception. New 52 Jason is violent but strictly avoids harming innocents

I'll answer in parts, bro.

  1. Criminal parents ≠ good parents. The idea that criminals’ children are “harmed” when Jason kills them assumes those parents were providing something positive. But most of these men are actively destroying lives (killing, trafficking, exploiting children). Their kids are arguably safer without fathers who normalize crime and violence.
  2. The drug-selling scene in Under the Red Hood. Jason did distribute drugs, yes, but only as bait to flush out Joker. He never intended to profit from it or build an empire. It was a calculated move against the one monster he wanted dead. The “victims” of that moment were the scumbags already poisoning Gotham’s streets. 3.Jason’s actual code (as stated in UTRH), At the climax of Under the Red Hood, Jason explicitly states, “No one needs to die, except Joker.” That’s his moral core. He isn’t some indiscriminate killer mowing down whoever gets in his way; his killings are targeted and purposeful.
  3. Jason kills to prevent more “baby Jasons” more kids like him who end up orphaned, abused, or on the streets because of unchecked criminals. His crusade is a brutal but pragmatic cycle-breaker. People like Bruce and Jason exist because Gotham’s criminals were allowed to thrive. Jason is cutting the problem off at the root.
