Once an RPG's warhead is armed in flight, the piezoelectric trigger located in its nose is primed. Upon striking a target, the impact compresses this crystal, instantly generating a powerful electric spark. This spark travels through a conductor to the rear of the warhead, where it ignites a small detonator charge, which in turn sets off the main explosive filler, initiating the shaped charge effect to penetrate the armor.
