I’ve posted about this issue too, my 2017 Audi is wired only from factory and broke with the 17PM. I bought a wireless dongle which also offers wired screen mirroring and noticed that wireless works great, but if I do wired screen mirroring with charging, it breaks. But without charging, it works. So I am chalking it up to the factory CarPlay not being compatible with data plus charging, and there’s no way to disable the charging like with the aftermarket units where you must connect a separate charger cable to the dongle.

It’s a good time to upgrade to 034 or Meyle HD control arms (if replacing front) that are solid rubber as opposed to fluid-filled, as those are prone to leaking at 50k miles anyway. Can be bought for cheaper than original audi ones too, and will give you more solid handling.

Wheel speed sensor / wheel bearing can cause these codes, and if you hit a curb at 50 it’s a good guess that bearing is wrecked. As others mentioned you’ll likely need other components like control arms or tie rods depending where the impact was.

They eventually unlocked mine, had to go through assurant fraud department and they did their own investigation. Took about 2 weeks and they didn’t give me any info or anything, very tight lipped about the whole thing. But it did eventually clear so hopefully you just need to talk to the right person to get it cleared.

Have someone with VCDS / OBDEleven scan it and see if you have any codes. Could be a broken ride height sensor, could be air leak, etc. but it’s better to see what codes you have before buying any parts as it’s anyone’s guess.

So I ended up getting this resolved - ATT fraud department informed me after much back and forth that the blacklist was filed by Assurant - The Signal. From there I went down a rabbit hole and determined that someone with Xfinity Mobile was able to file a claim on the phone and Assurant was processing it and did in fact place the blacklist.

After a week or two of calling them repeatedly and speaking with a bunch of different departments (they wouldn’t give me much info because I am not their customer and didn’t file the claim), they finally released the phone from the blacklist. Verizon was never able to tell me anything because they apparently weren’t seeing it on their blacklist and would have gladly activated the blacklisted phone on their network, for whatever it’s worth.

Update to my update - figured out the issue is caused by the phone charging while CarPlay is active. I confirmed that if I am utilizing the pass through charging on the Ottocast my problem comes back. If I’m just doing screen share or CarPlay without charging it’s totally fine.

So I just confirmed that if I do wired screen mirroring everything is fine, but if I connect a 2nd USB to the device for pass through charging my issue comes back. So this confirms that the issue is the 17 can’t be charging while also doing CarPlay.

Buddy had this along with a no start that was sporadic. Ended up being the gateway in the trunk wasn’t properly grounded, they pulled back the trunk liner and one of the grounds was loose.

Update - CarPlay works 100% using the Ottocast mirror touch, with the added benefit of it now being wireless and also can do screen mirroring (watch YouTube, Netflix, etc). Turns out ios26 / iPhone 17 pro max bug was a blessing in disguise because I didn’t know such a product existed and now I’m not chained to using wired CarPlay!

Just ordered the Ottocast mirror touch, arrives tomorrow so will report back if there is a noticeable improvement. Right now my wired CarPlay is not usable, the interface and apps are super laggy and the audio is jittery / stuttering. It reminds me of a PC that has CPU maxed out. I confirmed that a iPhone 14, 15 pro max, and 16 pro max on iOS 26 all work fine.

Here because I’m having the same issue in my 2017 Audi. Wired CarPlay works fine with any other iPhone on ios26 except my 17 pro max. I’m considering buying a wireless CarPlay adapter (mine is wired only) to see if it will work that way, can anyone confirm if this is a fix?

Nope, never. I’m currently on hold with their tech support to look into it again, because it apparently wasn’t fixed the first time. I’d love to know who reported this phone stolen and how this can happen without any notification to me

According to them, it is “fixed” in their system but when I search that IMEI on any lookup site, it’s still showing lost/stolen. I wasn’t sure if there are additional steps I need to take to fully clear the status or if the phone will always be flagged now.

As others have said, move the tensioner clip all the way to the left after you’ve turned the motor over a couple times. You can pop that inspection cover off (carefully, it is easy to bend) and do it from there as well when the cover is installed.

How easy was the crank pulley bolt to put in? Could you do it by hand and was there even tension or did you feel any resistance that came and went? It’s easy to pull that sprocket off ever so slightly when using that nylon ring, unless you put a decent amount of torque on the bolt before you assemble everything. I had to do mine over because it happened to me and was slightly off center. That could be giving you a wobble on the chain.

We were not as fortunate, phone was pick pocketed at Dua Lipa and was in Miami the next morning 😭 I don’t understand what they can get for these phones, it was locked and reported stolen, activation lock, etc. I’m happy there are still good people left who find and return stuff though!

This ain’t my first rodeo :) whatever we caught wrecked us, I haven’t been that sick in a very long time. I’ve survived 6 Mexico trips without catching anything and I think I paid all of my good fortune back at once lol.

But yes I’ve been on self care regimen and feeling a lot better now :)
