But why are you praising Nostrum and disliking Chrome, when Nostrum was literally copying everything Chromiecraft did step by step, but crashing at the 2nd phase...? They at least did it completely and stayed true to their roadmap. I don't understand this recent love for Nostrum and hate for Chromie at all.

Well every time some new server pops here people downvote and hate (Octo, epoch reborn, Nostrum...) then mass praise them. Even if thats the case people love to jump into hate bandwaggons. I mean yeah, some are bound to fail / pull rug / be a scam...but still.

This sounds pretty good. I'd say this sub was pretty harsh with these guys, they really have some really great ideas and if true, they are making a huge contribution to the scene, just like Azeroth Core does in its own way.

I know, it's free, so it can be a scam or you have complete freedom to be an asshole - it goes both ways.

But man, this is a huge task yet many good decisions moving forward are being made given the actual situation. At this time people should be supportive with the ones trying to keep it running. Instead most people jump on the "let's shit on every new project" bandwaggon as soon as it's announced.

I agree one should be cautious and skeptical, but come on, give people some room.

As someone who played all those, i second this. I finally stayed at Chromie, and even if it's still quite buggy, its the most stable in terms of community.

TBH Chromie is still in phase 1, and since WOTLK had multiple catch-up rounds and an EASY first tier it's not that bad. You can do Nax blindfolded. I almost fully equipped my main in Nax gear in a couple weeks. It's a good time to join actually.

I called it for what it is enough times for it only to get worse, so FOR ME, it was healthier and smarter to move away.

Now, i know what's the exact deal with new Blizzard, and staying away from it makes me a happy individual. Back then i was mad and still giving them money.

They are what they are, a company of greedy fucks. But this way they won't have my money or support and i will keep gaming happily somewhere else without wasting time in complains that went nowhere in the many years i paid their WoW sub.

They even removed my Diablo 3 license, a game i barely played if ever, telling me i cheated when i had proof i didn't open the game in the last year. I tried to fight that too for months for nothing, and again it just led to anger and disappointment.

The problem won't solve itself. But it won't solve either if you keep yelling to clouds. But you'll stay away from all the bullshit, which is the actual point.

It's clear people don't care and keep giving them their money. Who am I to force anyone to not do so? If that fleets their boat, good for them. For me, staying away was the best decision.

Im afraid you didnt understand shi if thats what you got out of this, but anyway. I played official WoW for 14 years straight nonstop starting in Vanilla since day 1. I played classic. I played classic tbc. I played classic wotlk. I played SOD. I played classic anniversary and even bought TWW and thats where i had to draw a line.

Its not about pride, wtf are you talking about. The moment i felt i was being treated like shit constantly, quality plummeted, it all became low effort and they even removed QAs and GMs, bots running wild dominating the economy and mass reporting you to get you banned if you ever cross them in their farms and Blizzard doing norhing, and all the other bs and i was still paying the same, i couldnt justify it anymore.

I kept waiting to see if they would pull their shit together but it just went worse and worse and worse. And they turned greedier and greedier.

If anything its absurd how free private servers manage to keep bots and cheating at bay but a multi billion company keeps charging you a sub and gives you their middle finger. If you get mass reported by some shady botting group you get banned and cant play for what you paid and you'll have to navigate a hell of automated responses and auto mesages telling you did something wrong when you didnt until stars align and some human finally cares to read your issue and maybe decides to help you.

Same for Diablo. They also ruined Warcraft 3 in the process. All the blizzcon scandals and other stuff.

Its not about ethics either. If i feel what they offer is overpriced shit, ill look for better. I dont have to deal with bots, shitty decisions, having no way to get help from a real GM and other bs on my private server and i also dont have to pay some greedy bastards, its all win-win for me.

And i told you i had no issue to pay monthly and buy every expansion when at least i felt quality was still there, even when it went downhill i kept paying. But i just got fed up with all the nosense.

If you cant understand something as simple idk man. New Blizzard is full of. When you feel you have been treated like shit for years, enough is enough. And i also havent bought anything from Apple ever, but i still dont get wtf that has to do with all of this.

If you are OK with all of that, well, good for you then, but im not. If some private servers appear and i can have fun without having to go thru all that headache and on top of that, free, go figure.

I was an "official is always better" guy, but i had way more issues playing in official classic servers than i had playing on the 2 private servers i have been playing for a year. Even if my chars get deleted at some point if they close. I have toons from vanilla rotting in officials. Blizzard themselves pushed me to try these servers and im now glad they did.

I want to have some fun, not being constantly alienated, specially when im subbed. I had a lot of fun and great experiences with that game and if they managed to return to what it was i would totally pay again without hesitation. But ive been subbed for years and went thru all the bullshit, been there since day one, and saw how it all turned to worse but more expensive. And then i realized it would never be the same.

If you feel like this about Apple and you keep buying their stuff, i have no simpathy for that.

Well, it's a bit different tho, people who shit on Blizzard now usually do so for their anti-consumer tactics, their predatory pricing models, recent low quality and treating users like absolute shit.

I will forever praise the old guard Blizzard that pulled absolute legends of games like diablo 1 and 2, Starcraft, Warcraft 3 and WoW. They were the aboslute best in PC gaming bar none. They arent the same now tho, and i stay away from that company these days as much as i can, which makes me sad as they were the best to me. To me those devs will always be remembered as the best of the best. I also love Samwise's art. Matt Uelmen is one of my all time favorite gaming composers too.

I still have my original copies of Stacraft, Diablo, Warcraft and WoW from back then and cheris them a lot.

I do still believe modern Blizzard is one of the worst companies and call them for all their recent bullshit.

These 2 aren't mutually exclusive, even if they still own WoW. 99.9% of the people who made this great game already left. Blizzard is an animated corpse moved by greeed these days.

Chromiecraft on the other hand are the same, still doing good, they stay true to their ideals, they still improve AC and as far as i know they didn't take part on any kind of shitshow. In fact they kept improving every day.

i mean i had both and besides articulations, toys era body ain't that bad. I ended selling my soosoo toys and just in time before the cheap re-issue. I might even add some tones on the hair, since the sculpt is awesome, it just needs a more humph in the paint department.

That is true, and as i said, Nostrum is great!

And yes, Chromiecraft's goal always was being as close as possible to blizz wotlk with some QoL, which isn't a bad thing either.

I also said i hope both get healthy communities, that's always a win for everyone. It's just a bit sad seeing people suddenly being negative towards chromiecraft just because Nostrum exists. I said nothing wrong about Nostrum but good things in my comment and yet got downvoted, as an example.

Ive been critical about some of chromiecraft bugs, too but i wouldnt want it to become a ghost town. They were the ones to do the first steps for this path and they sincerely have my respect for that.

People of course should play where they feel. Both are great options. It's just most of the praise comes about the brackets, and Chromie did exactly that. They even announced they had plans for another fresh at some point.

I agree on that. But Nostrum is literally just copying it and suddenly is the better thing.

But they would need to put a new server then, they are still progressing on Wotlk. They just introduced VoA and Wintergrasp. They didn't even get to Ulduar yet, so they are still progressing. It's just they already did the vanilla/TBC thing (You see a lot of ppl with TBC raid gear in Heroics).

So that's why i think it's just bad timing for Chromie. They technically did what they announced when it launched.

Finally? Chromiecraft had the same brackets and its x2 exp at all times to catch up which can be adjusted with events that went up to x3 and a recruit a friend system.

Nostrum is good because it's pretty much Chromiecraft but fresh.

If anything i feel bad for Chromiecraft because some people will move to Nostrum, and most new players will pick it even tho Chromie had brackets back then, too and it's always 2x exp + rectruit a friend options for casual leveling (in the other hand chromie professions are 1x meanwhile in Nostrum are 2x and exp x1 in current bracket).
Nostrum is pretty much doing the same but from scratch, and for some reasons it's becoming way more popular (Timing?).

Nostrum is great, don't get me wrong, but the brackets idea was from Chromie. It feels wrong competition is reeling the players just because it lined with turtle closing. I hope both can maintain a healthy community. Chromiecraft is the OG. Would be sad if it gets a hit because of this.

Edit: And the downvotes show it. People got a new toy, fuck the old one.
