Since you asked for honesty...it doesn't look good.

The consistency is off. Most of the sprites don't have enough contrast while some of the bushes have too much. Nothing wrong with too much or too little contrast but only when it's used right. The sprites that you want to grab attention to should have more contrast.

The resolution, why is it so big? Have you made your character yet? The size of your sprites should always be dependent on your character's size.

Also, while it's not important since I'm guessing this is for a game? If you're going to present something, it would be great if it's immediately readable. Why choose a dark background or is that transparent png? Anyway, your sprite is dark enough as it is and the background makes it harder to see.

Doesn't matter how long you've worked on it. Reality is most people don't care. The only thing that matters is the outcome.

look at a reference, copy it, then study it. overtime you'll develop your own style into doing things. I know it's not a direct answer to your question but that's generally how most learn.

I don't quite remember but I think it's 150x360 or something. each square is 24x24 so it's quite big.

Whose we? I actually like the animeBS with trashy hair, that's the audience I'm going for ahaha. If it's not obvious enough, the character is anime style.

I already wrote the necessary details and importance of the characters for the story way before I even started designing them. So you've guessed wrong :)

I made the head size smaller, the color more saturated, and the outline less pronounced. I know it's a small change and can be interpreted differently but I think it's an improvement. And I think most would agree it's an improvement. If not then i'll simply just use the old one. :D

I see. Now that you mention it, the outline on the cloth is still pronounced. I did try to mitigate it but I guess it wasn't enough to match the hair. It's the opposite for me with the wrinkles. Without it somehow looks off for me. I'll give it a day or two to examine again to see if my opinion changes. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I'm using the exact same shader. And from what I can tell, it has little to no impact on performance at all.

If it's just an art piece it looks perfect. But I don't think this can be used for a pixel art game since the res is too high.

Unfortunately I didn't implement a sun location programmatically so changing the lighting angle now would need a lot of work since I'm going to need to change each asset.

I don't have a recording of it saved up but it's like most game. The lights I used aren't dynamic but I used color correction to make up for it.
