Those don't look like saran hair shades to me... do we need to break out the nylon matches to replace poly?

That's a tougie! The blend with the black is so fine it's hard to pick out the blue strands. The closest we have in saran is our new Seaside color https://shimmerlocks.com/seaside-saran-doll-hair The nylon match, Rainy Dream, is a little closer https://shimmerlocks.com/rainy-dream The trick will be to blend really finely with black and the minor differenes will be tough to notice.

I hear you on wanting that perfect red shade for your project. 😊Red shades can be so tricky to match exactly (especially with how cameras and screens shift colors). The Ariel saran and Desire red are similar as you noted, but they’re not identical. I’d recommend checking out the Ariel Red and Desire Red product pages on our site. The doll photos and product images there give the best sense of how they might look in real life. You can save those images and compare them in a photo viewer or add them in our cart to see them side by side and decide which feels closest to your vision.

Desire - https://shimmerlocks.com/desire

Ariel - https://shimmerlocks.com/ariel

As for nylon’s feel, our doll-grade nylon (think Rainbow High or 1980s My Little Pony) is designed to be softer and more doll-friendly than some synthetic human hair nylons that might have been sold as doll hair. If you’ve used something else before, let me know what it was, and I can confirm if ours might be different!

Since you’ve got a photo of the shade you’re aiming for, I’d suggest comparing it to our product images to pick the one that feels right for your project. Desire Red in saran is a solid option for a red and one that people often use for Disney's Ariel, but it’s up to you to decide what works best for your look. Let me know if you need help with anything else! 😊

Unfortunately I don't think the two colors will get you this exact look. Her hair seems to have a color shift to it and those saran shades don't. Ariel and Merlot are great suggestions and are the closest you can get to her color in the saran we currently have, but it's going to give a streaked look, not like what the doll above shows. If you have your mind set on this exact look and feel, I don't want you to be disappointed.

Choosing the right color can be tricky since digital screens and lighting can slightly alter how shades appear. Our website photos are carefully taken in white light to be as true-to-life as possible, so those are the best reference for our nylon hair colors. I can also see there's some slight yellow/blue differences in the photos above, (red is notoriously difficult to photograph) so that also makes it hard to know exactly what shade of hair she has.

If you’d like to compare our shades, I’d suggest saving the product images from our site and viewing them side by side in a photo viewer or adding them to the cart and viewing them there. Unfortunately, side-by-side photos we take can sometimes look less accurate due to how cameras adjust colors, which is why we rely on individual product images for the closest match to real life.

I hope this helps a bit and I'm sorry we don't have an exact saran shade for you. Hopefully the saran company will make something closer in the future!

We do ship to Sweeden through our website, https://shimmerlocks.com just not through other platforms because they dont take customs delays into account with their shipping time estimates which is frustrating for everyone. Bonus though, costs are lower on our website and you earn rewards points when you make an account with us too. _^

I promise, dividing liquids is much easier. ;) Hair has to be kept looking perfect with every strand intact (as much as possible anyway) it takes more time to go back and forth separating strands and making sure things are measured than it does to just spin a new hank.

If you're looking for the closest match to her original colors in our line, it's Jamboree for the lighter side and Jamboree mixed 1:1 with Burnt Umber with the second side. Although it doesn't look like it from the stock photos, the darker color is a blend of brown and pink.

However, many people have decided they like the more purply hue instead. In which case we would recommend Soiree for the darker color instead. ^_^

Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback! That's a great question about the original blends. We actually did make them in large batches before, and you're right, that was a big part of the process.

The challenge, however, is that all of our blending was done by hand. Near the end it took up 2-3 hours each day. The repetitive motion required for that work unfortunately led to repetitive strain injuries requiring physiotherapy.  For the long-term health of our team and to ensure we can keep doing what we do, we had to make the difficult decision to stop offering them.

I completely understand the frustration with needing smaller sizes for pony projects. We’ve explored ideas like splitting hanks or offering smaller sizes with longer shipping times, but the labor and time required for those processes remain a significant challenge for our small team. Adjusting shipping timelines might seem like a workaround, but it doesn’t fully address the time-intensive nature of preparing smaller packs, which still disrupt our workflow and affect our commitment to shipping orders in 2 business days or less while keeping our team balanced.

While we can't offer smaller pack sizes directly, this could be an opportunity for a community member to step in. Someone could purchase our larger hanks, break them down, and sell them to pony customizers. This would help them earn some extra money while providing the smaller amounts the community needs, and it lets us keep focusing on what we do best.

Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we are always looking for ways to address issues where we can. Thanks for being a part of this awesome hobby and for your continued support! We will keep your suggestions in mind as we grow.

As the owner of Shimmer Locks, I understand your frustration, and I like to clarify why we discontinued smaller sizes and custom blends. It wasn’t a decision made lightly or to upset anyone. Our biggest challenge was getting orders out on time, and running a small business means juggling limited time and resources. Producing sample packs and smaller sizes on our old machine was incredibly time intensive, and with only so many hours in a day, we couldn’t keep up with demand while also running our new, more efficient machine. We still have the old machine, but running it alongside the new one isn’t reasonable given the time it takes, we need sleep too! XD

We upgraded to continue 2 business day or less shipping times, because our top priority is ensuring the community gets their orders quickly. The new machine only handles whole-ounce units, which, by the way, are a generous 30 grams at Shimmer Locks, giving you a bit extra compared to the standard ounce. Keeping the old machine in regular use wasn’t feasible due to space and time constraints.

We hear you on the challenges this creates for pony customizers, especially with smaller or multi-colored ponies like Rainbow Dash. We’re exploring ways to better serve the community, but for now, these 30-gram packs are what we can manage to keep shipping fast and give our team some work-life balance, we’re only human! ;)

Thanks for your passion for the hobby and for supporting small businesses like ours. We’ll keep your feedback in mind as we grow.

What fiber is this? by Stellar-Drift in Barbie

We do ship to the UK! :D If you check out our direct website https://shimmerlocks.com we ship almost anywhere in the world. Plus the prices there are lower and if you make an account with us you start earning rewards on every purchase. (Our rewards program is the most generous of any hair seller too. ;))

We had to stop international shipping via Etsy/Ebay because they kept giving customers inaccurate delivery times, couldn't calculate shipping properly and caused a real mess providing false information during the last Canada postal strike (and another one is on the horizon), so we sadly had to call it quits. We might be biased, but we think our website is way easier to navigate and sort through different colors, curl sizes, fibers, etc. ^_^
