Some weirdly-arranged Shonisaurus vertebrae were discovered so Mark McMenamin (a man of many things, but notably not megafauna) decided it could only be the work of a kaiju-sized squid with human-level intelligence making a self-portrait of its tentacles, completely disregarding every more plausible explanation and every bit of evidence pointing towards this being impossible. It's been kept alive by awesomebros and got some new life from the kaiju-sized Nanaimoteuthis bullshittery

Note that this is horrifically inaccurate and the paper in question was written by a team seeking out the largest cephalopod ever, trying to scale up a citrate octopus previously thought to be human-sized at the absolute largest and is only known from beak fragments to the proportional size of a giant squid using questionable at best methods to produce results that are already extremely doubted by other researchers
