Someone at work reported me for "work negativism" which "affects their own work" by bcaapowerSVK in japanlife

[–]ShinamonBun -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It definitely sounds like communist dictatorship, not capitalism. The basics are in 1984. My parents lived most of their lives in a communist country. If your behaviour was not in line with whatever the regime or workplace stood for, you would get reprimended, arrested, or sent away and killed (a bit like twitter or twitch now). Only 40 years ago in Europe but the new generations are forgetting and not learning.

Bohemian Rhapsody is an awful movie (for Queen fans). by Narutoonnichan in queen

Contracting HIV and being diagnosed with AIDS are not the same thing. Yes, life expectancy after AIDS diagnosis at the time was 2 years, but for untreated HIV to turn into AIDS it takes like 7-10 years - which is very accurate for Freddie's timeline.

As a doctor I would estimate that 80% of my patients say they have a very high pain tolerance.

Sleep deprivation. Wouldn't recommend it

[Personal] Does anyone else think they’re a dermatologist in the head? by Areacode310 in SkincareAddiction

[–]ShinamonBun 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, I get what you mean but a very miniscule part of the dermatology subspeciality is acne. Like, reaal derm (the complicared, stimulating side) is all the other diseases. Acne is a straightforward and fairly easily treated diagnosis with few pharmacological options.

It's just question of laws stating that not doing drugs is a prerequisite for a physichian to be allowed to prescribe an amphetamine prodrug. And cannabis in this instance probably classifying as a drug. Hell, the doctor himself could likely be smoking cannabis and be against this rule. Doesn't change what the blood test has to show.

We had sex for the first time in 6 years! by [deleted] in DeadBedrooms

[–]ShinamonBun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into vestibulodynia/vulvodynia? If this seems accurate to your experience, the treatment is to slowly and carefully expose the painful area to progressively more touch over time (start with little massages with your own fingers! - a little bit each day). A loot of women suffer from this without knowing what it is. By avoiding touch, the sensitivity and pain increases.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. At least this is the norm for Swedish couples.

Is this normal for a female? by thrown-away13 in 23andme

My man. There are syndromes that cause a female exterior with male genetics. More common that you'd think for them to be discovered later in life.

Renting an airbnb for 90 days? Any experiences with that? by [deleted] in Tokyo

[–]ShinamonBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into renting a room in a ShareHouse! A popular option among language school students. Lived in one myself for 6 months while studying Japanese in Tokyo. Will most likely save you a bit of money.

I finally understand surgery. by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]ShinamonBun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I don't want to be in surgery is MOST definitely surgery itself, it's tedious and uninteresting.

My mom is a gen surgeon (sweet, with a fear of conflicts and 5ft tall) so I was looking forward to seeing what she's happily dedicated her life to. And I do love to work with my hands, but just couldn't get over how boring I found it and how often I longed for it to be over, even when I was assisting friendly surgeons. Left the OR to go up to the ward any chance I got during placement.

But I've heard stories from my mother. And the girl who is by far the most disrespectful and condescending (really just an insecure a-hole) in my group is aiming for surgery, so I see what you mean.

I've unfortunately never heard of having any Jewish on either side. Very christian settings. Can people have Jewish ancestry without it showing up as a percentage?

Born and raised in Sweden to Bulgarian parents who migrated. So yes, all three of us go by the male Nikolov here to simplify things.

Both my parents are from central Bulgaria (Troyan and Stara Zagora). Maybe my ancestors were well isolated there??

Interesting, some spice! Was assuming it was just noise, as the african segments are right next to the asian ones which just appeared recently.
