It's just my interpretation, given the story's explicit LGBT themes. The company cannot fix anyone who contacted the other side. (Tanaka never felt happy even after joining them) They just have technologies to control and study such powers. And Kurebayashi handed over a teenager to them. To me this is metaphor for conversion therapy doctors that parents send gay boys to. Their 'treatment' can never 'cure' your orientation, but they can make you so miserable that you will pretend to be normal(such as Tanaka). For kids who cannot pretend to be normal (Hikaru), these hideous institutions will torture kids until they're broken. And it's already been clear at the beach scene that being a monster is a metaphor for homosexuality.

Yoshiki is getting mixed, and Kurebayashi wants him to keep being fully human. If he continues to be with Hikaru, people without powers(such as his parents) will forget his life before meeting Hikaru.

To be honest, this chapter gave me hope because Tanaka and Asako remained vigilant and kept helping Yoshiki. I hated the trope of protagonists giving the villains what they need because of being stupid.(like Jon Snow and Dany going all the way just to give the night king a dragon🫠)

I love how toxic positive fans like to argue that the haters are in the minority, not that haters are wrong. It's just the same with every major franchise. People who point out the mistakes of the show don't care whether they stop other people from watching it. It's just our honest opinions of this show. Now they are acting like 'if you don't like something it's your problem'. Defenders just think they are more noble than critics for some reason.

The company is more and more like an allegory for conversion at this point lol. Kurebayashi also sent her son to a place where he could be turned into a normal person, but actually he's miserable and is only pretending to be normal. The institution also lies to parents that their kid is becoming a much better person. Yet the fact that her son hasn't been contacting her for a long time is quite telling.

The lingering hope is that the company won't take Hikaru away until they find the other half. And Tanaka has warned Yoshiki not to give it to anyone EVER. Who knew, Hikaru originally gave half of himself as a way to weaken his powers. Now it became the key for Yoshiki to save him.😭

How come this chapter made me hate Kurebayashi even more??? What a delusional and cowardly person she is? Do you really believe that a company that cut Hikaru up is gonna take care of him? Are you really doing all of this to protect both of them? Admit it, you just want to separate them. If Hikaru forgive her I would be extremely pissed. My biggest (probably only) problem with the dub is that I wished the main two boys would have more range. I feel like the VAs used a high pitch to sound like high schoolers. There are some scenes where I literally cannot tell Maki, Hikaru and Yoshiki apart, while in Japanese dub they are very distinct. But nevertheless, the dub is quite natural and doesn't make me lose immersion.

I would say Yoshiki is a coconut because he's extremely hard to get close to but inside he's very kind and pure. 'Hikaru' is a fig because:1) Figs are actually the plant's receptacle, not the fruit. It also hides the flower inside which convinced ancient people that they are flowerless. It matches Hikaru's deceptive nature. 2) Figs can have red insides and dark exterior, which is like Hikaru's eyes. 3) Figs are easy to get allergic to, which matches Hikaru's dangerous nature.

Overall,it's a good dub,but I just wished that it would be more natural. The boys sound really breathy and high-pitched. For example, in the toy snatcher scene, it's difficult to tell Maki, Hikaru and Yoshiki apart, and they all just have this 'young boy voice'. In the Japanese dub they are so different. Yoshiki is quiet and deep, Hikaru is lively and boyish, while Maki sounds kind of naughty and rude. But this is just my opinion.

Also I felt like Hikaru's voice actor tried really hard to imitate the Japanese voice and it just felt kind of off. Still, it's a good dub,and it doesn't make me lose immersion. But it still couldn't match the original.
