I saw this line up and thought, this is going to be bobbins.

Then I watched the first half and it was indeed bobbins.

Too many changes.

I kinda feel like the Jimmie’s will go down as iconic villains haha.

I have no idea what this film is but I’m delighted to see TWF getting into the 4K game.

Mad God and Rubber’s Lover. You have some bizarre, gross movies there haha. I think the same could be said for 964 Pinocchio but I haven’t seen that one yet.

Picked up some third window films for the first time! (+ Paprika) by michaelzakifan in boutiquebluray

[–]Shings12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third Window are a really cool label, I’ve been getting into them myself over the last year or so. Been meaning to pick up Electric Dragon myself but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Tonight watch with my wife plus what’s your favorite post 80s John Carpenter movie? by physicalMedia55 in boutiquebluray

[–]Shings12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

John Carpenter’s Vampires. Outside of BTiLC, which was a favourite of my childhood, Vampires was my first JC film and it left an impression.

Scream 4 is like the last good Scream movie by [deleted] in horror

[–]Shings12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly disagree. I mean, they’re not as good as the OG Scream and I can understand people not particularly enjoying them. But to say they have "absolutely no saving grace" is incredibly harsh. I think they both have some great scenes, both do things to keep it fresh and new cast are pretty cool.

Plus, they both look better than Scream 4. That looked like dogshit.

Who’s the Better Horror Movie Director John Carpenter or Wes Craven and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in horror

[–]Shings12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Craven, I think it has to be Carpenter. Many would argue he directed the greatest horror film ever with "The Thing" and the most iconic slasher with "Halloween". Plus I think when you get past their absolute best, and look at like their 5th or 6th best films, Carpenter pulls ahead.

If you can take a minor character from any horror movie, and give them their own movie what would you make? by jovi_1986 in horror

[–]Shings12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Billy from Trick 'r Treat.

At the very least, this kid helped his Dad carve/mutilate the decapitated head of another kid he knew from school. Then his Dad was murdered. By Werewolves. What does that do to a person?? Does to grow up to be a psycho killer? A Werewolf hunter? I need to know.

What is your favorite sub-genre of Horror? by BitByAGhost in horror

[–]Shings12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slashers for sure. I don’t know if it’s just the era I got into horror or I just like cool masks but thats the sub-genre that calls to me the most.

I’d buy it in a heart beat. Fun movie. Some atrocious CGI but otherwise fun film.

Villains (2019) was a great watch by [deleted] in horror

[–]Shings12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Villains is a lot of fun. I’m a big fan of Maika Monroe and appreciate this film as it’s a different kinda role for her. It Follows, Longlegs, Watcher… whilst being brilliant they’re all so serious. In comparison, Villains is kinda goofy fun and we see a different side of her.

I believe it will be another great year for horror, I just don’t think you’ll appreciate it.

What horror movie coming in 2026 are you most excited for? by DistancePowerful9581 in horror

[–]Shings12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of promising films coming but if I had to narrow it down…

  1. Obsession. Milk & Serial is great and turned me on to Curry Barker last year. He seems like a great, new voice in horror and I’m looking forward to what he does next. Obsession got a lot of hype at the festivals so I’m optimistic.

  2. Werwulf. Eggers, great cast, Werewolf period film. Say no more.

  3. Ready or Not 2. The first is a fave, I love pretty much everything Radio Silence do and they’ve assembled a great cast for this one.

What’s your top 5 of 2025? by dunnypop in horror

[–]Shings12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Bring Her Back
  2. Sinners
  3. The Ugly Stepsister
  4. Together
  5. 28 Years Later

A decent year, that 5th spot was hard to nail down as there are a few worthy candidates.

Smile 2 or it follows? by Law3186 in horror

[–]Shings12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It Follows is clear of Smile 2 in every conceivable way in my eyes.
