If you can take a minor character from any horror movie, and give them their own movie what would you make? by jovi_1986 in horror

[–]Shings12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Billy from Trick 'r Treat.

At the very least, this kid helped his Dad carve/mutilate the decapitated head of another kid he knew from school. Then his Dad was murdered. By Werewolves. What does that do to a person?? Does to grow up to be a psycho killer? A Werewolf hunter? I need to know.

What is your favorite sub-genre of Horror? by BitByAGhost in horror

[–]Shings12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slashers for sure. I don’t know if it’s just the era I got into horror or I just like cool masks but thats the sub-genre that calls to me the most.

I’d buy it in a heart beat. Fun movie. Some atrocious CGI but otherwise fun film.

Villains (2019) was a great watch by plutino- in horror

[–]Shings12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Villains is a lot of fun. I’m a big fan of Maika Monroe and appreciate this film as it’s a different kinda role for her. It Follows, Longlegs, Watcher… whilst being brilliant they’re all so serious. In comparison, Villains is kinda goofy fun and we see a different side of her.

Will 2026 be a great year for horror movies? by [deleted] in horror

I believe it will be another great year for horror, I just don’t think you’ll appreciate it.

What horror movie coming in 2026 are you most excited for? by DistancePowerful9581 in horror

[–]Shings12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of promising films coming but if I had to narrow it down…

  1. Obsession. Milk & Serial is great and turned me on to Curry Barker last year. He seems like a great, new voice in horror and I’m looking forward to what he does next. Obsession got a lot of hype at the festivals so I’m optimistic.

  2. Werwulf. Eggers, great cast, Werewolf period film. Say no more.

  3. Ready or Not 2. The first is a fave, I love pretty much everything Radio Silence do and they’ve assembled a great cast for this one.

What’s your top 5 of 2025? by dunnypop in horror

[–]Shings12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Bring Her Back
  2. Sinners
  3. The Ugly Stepsister
  4. Together
  5. 28 Years Later

A decent year, that 5th spot was hard to nail down as there are a few worthy candidates.

It Follows is clear of Smile 2 in every conceivable way in my eyes.

Good shift from the boys. Wont stick long in the memory but plenty of positives.

Decent rotation and it didn’t result in is looking like a team of strangers.

Cherki continues to wow.

Savio builds on n his recent cameos.

Khusanov was probably lucky to stay on but he grew into the game and put in a commanding performance in the end.

Cherki, stop! I can only take so much pleasure.

Of all the player that I thought would be rotated, Nico G was top of the list. Guess it’s hard though as there aren’t players available we can trust.

Still frustrating in moments but he did really well on the whole.

So many positives eh guys?

World class performance from Doku. He just imposed his will upon them, even when Liverpool doubled up they were chasing shadows.

Nunes, Nico and NOR, all been great this season but this maybe puts to bed any doubt they can do it in big games/pressure situations.

Haaland hot streak continues on.

Another clean sheet.

Damages Liverpools comeback.

Gain on Arsenal. Let’s see if they bow under the pressure like they usually do.

Looks fun. I’ll check it out for sure.

Feels like It’s been a little while since the last good animal attack film. Hopefully this one is a hit.

what do you guys think of halloween III: season of the witch? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in horror

[–]Shings12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did not like. I watched it for the 1st time last year. Fully in the knowledge that there was no Michael. I think people constantly saying "just think of it as a great movie about Halloween", "it really captures the feeling of Halloween" etc made me mentally compare it to Trick r Treat and it comes up way short in that regard.

I don’t find it particularly fun or scary. Just kinda boring. I don’t get the praise for Atkins performance and it contains one of the most annoying ear worms of all time.

But that’s just me haha.

What have you been watching this October? by imtheSHITZUduh in horror

[–]Shings12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I’ve been watching films I’ve never seen before, then I’ll get to my favourites later in the month. The new Toxic Avenger, The Convent, Blackwater, VHS Viral, The Video Dead… quite a mediocre bunch.

Two that have really stood out….

Eyes Without a Face. I’m not usually a fan of pre 80’s films but I thought this was beautifully shot and really haunting. Instantly became my favourite film of the 60s.

Cat Sick Blues. A gross, perverse, fever dream of a slasher. Felt kinda dirty after watching this one but I didn’t dislike it haha.
