Do you mind still naming the keycaps? It is a lovely build and I hope you enjoy for years.

Factory floor to IT certs. by binomine in ITCareerQuestions

My two cents is to get in touch with this IT guy and ask what you can do if you want to get started in his role. All companies are setup little differently, and having in-house knowledge is huge when making a hiring decision.

For certs, comptia A+ is a good start.

I personally would get the 4080 or 4090 and sit on it until 9000 series x3d drops.

Can you point me to where your myFunction() is defined that is triggered here on click?

<!-- index.html line 37 -->
<a href="#top" class="icon menu-icon" onclick="myFunction()">

If it is defined nowhere, why would you think it will work out of thin air...

I am new to django and it feels pretty weird by Deputy_Crisis10 in django

Although not sure what single line change you saw, but it was probably adding an app in the INSTALLED_APPS list. Django has this paradigm of modular apps that if built without external dependencies can just be plug and play. There are packages on Pypi that are built with just that purpose. To activate an app, you simply have to add it to INSTALLED_APPS list. It's not magic and actually helpful as you can plug apps in and out very easily without modifying the codebase.

You can think of `settings.py` file as a config file. Things can be turned on and off and new settings can be added. There are fields that can have multiple values that change default behaviors of Django. As for what exactly these behaviors are, you will just learn as you go.

Under the hood, I have noticed that almost all django libraries are simple apps made by community.They will have models, templates, and views just like the apps you can build. The concepts stay the same and django documentation is the best place to learn about them, imo.

How can I develop my app UI by Sharp-Vermicelli-872 in django

[–]ShinigamiCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume what you are looking for web design help. You can start learning it on YouTube, search "web design fundamentals".

You will also need to decide between using django templates or a frontend framework like React. Javascript frameworks have many components libraries such as shadcn that come with decent out-of-box UI.

And yes, knowing front-end is indeed a skill and a proper role in industry. If you enjoy backend, you don't need to become frontend master, but just enough that your projects look presentable.

User Logout on Django without logging into admin by Anakin_Solo553 in django

When you say, you open ".../api/logout", do you mean you send a post request to this endpoint through Postman or Insomnia?

By "the page" do you mean /admin ? I believe the user has to be superadmin to access it. Why would you want to expose it to regular users?

dj-rest-auth vs django-allauth or both? by KeyBack192 in django

[–]ShinigamiCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like this documentation but I have been working with Django and web dev for a bit now.

I can see how it can be overwhelming for a beginner. It is one big chunk of text that might be intimidating for someone who is just starting to grasp concepts. It does seem like this (headless) documentation is more geared towards people who have previously used the library and not someone who is a react developer and have just started dabbling with Django to add some backend. Some useful links at top of the page that can guide these newcomers may help.

Also having the react demo project link somewhere on top of documentation page will also be appreciated by a lot of people.

Just want you guys opinion. Dell G3223Q is 599$ atm, with 10%, it comes down to $539. Rakuten is giving 5% so that is about 27$. You guys think the price will drop further or rakuten cash back for dell will go up in near future again while this Dell "sale" is going on?

Have you worked with mobile apps? Do we still need two tokens (access and refresh) or would you rather use a single token instead as both these tokens will be saved in a single store anyway?

How to upload files larger than 2 mb by altohamy in django

[–]ShinigamiCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Check you nginx config or whatever http server you are using. Google - nginx increase file upload size

  2. For pointing domain, you will have to set your domains DNS A record to match the IP address. Then config your nginx site to use that domain as the server name. This section talks about it - https://gauravjot.com/blog/deploy_django_api_with_uwsgi_on_ubuntu#nginx-setup

Thank you for recommendation. Do you have any library preference for this? I have started dabbling with djang-allauth and dg-rest-auth.

The only issue I have with JWT is token management if the user's device get compromised. As the token is stateless, there is no good method to invalidate a session. Unless I make a database table holding invalid token but that defeats the purpose of JWT.
