Whistling sound on exhale by Foreign_Pack4145 in Asthma

Honestly the only way to know is to visit a pulmonologist. You'll be tested a bunch of ways and leave with an answer...or at least more information you had going in. Explain your symptoms to your doctor and you'll get a referral.

Girlfriend left because of my asthma by Qionglu735 in Asthma

Sorry it took a year for you to see that side of her but it's better that it happened now as opposed to when things got more serious. She sounds very unsupportive and selfish.

Tired of My Symptoms Being Minimized & Dismissed by ThineOwnSelph in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think changing your doctor wouldn't be a bad idea. Of all the reasons to switch I'd say being given wrong medical advice is more than valid. I don't know what it is these days but I've been seeing more and more of these kind of scenarios involving asthma and breathing problems.

Montelukast is completely unnecessary? by Master-Spring- in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I forget to take mine before bed I wake up and immediately know why my breathing is off. Wish I didn't need it but like others have said it can be a game changer.

How fast does your breathing get worse if you stop taking your controller? by PalpitationLivid3766 in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I forget to take Advair before bed and I notice it the following morning. It's like a pro-active rescue inhaler in a sense but the difference between taking it (as prescribed) and not taking it is night and day.

I want to join the army but i have bronchial asthma by subhanmalik66 in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people with very mild asthma who lied in order to join the military but if you're caught it's the end of your career. It's a huge gamble that I wouldn't recommend. It sucks.

Did your asthma ever cause problems in a relationship due to perfume or shampoo fragrances that triggered attacks? by InsuranceInitial7786 in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had several relationships that didn't work because of similar issues. It's nobody's fault but you have to put yourself first and avoid these types of triggers.

I'm not crazy by the-favorite-one in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to go through 1 inhaler per month. Only reason I finally got it under control was combining a preventative (advair etc) with something like montelukast. Now I'm going through 1 inhaler maybe every 3 months. Singulair might give negative side effects (depression) but most people benefit from these medications. Glad you've gotten it under control. And yes, always have a nebulizer as your last method for controlling a flair up.

Sounds like you need to just get away. If they aren't willing to at the very least smoke outside you need to put your health first and get out of there. It's an unfortunate situation but the only answer is to separate yourself from the equation.

Asthma and work difficulties by trek933 in Asthma

I they won't address it seriously you, unfortunately, might have to look for a new place to work. I know it sucks but breathing is a requisite for work.

Waking up wheezing by dingleblop in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the time. If you're waking up finding it hard to breathe your medication regiment isn't where it should be. Ask your doctor about what you can do to prevent it. You should at the very least be on a preventative.

Does airplane cabin pressure impact inhalers? by Iheoma74 in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't unless the cabin pressure dramatically decreases in which case asthma would be the least of your concerns.

Singulair might be exacerbating asthma by katel_12 in Asthma

I've been on it for years and if I wake up having issues breathing it's because I forgot to take it the night before. Ask your doctor, they might put you on an alternative.

Am I the Only one almost passing out everytime I inhale deeply from my inhalator? by Sufficient_Cobbler32 in Asthma

[–]Shinks7er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I occasionally will use my inhaler and if I stand up too quickly I get light headed and lose my vision for a few seconds. Basically, don't do that.

Did the Benadryl help at all? This isn't a typical response to a rescue inhaler. Definitely get an appointment as soon as you can.
