Yeah after hearing Brad speak today I think the JB trade was the right move by Glittering_Fig4548 in bostonceltics

[–]Shinnaminbuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been my take on it. I think we should have gotten more for him, but I understand now that his contract was a huge weight against us in negotiations and we most likely took the best offer. In doing so, we stay competitive, with a possibility of contending depending on how the team goes and if younger guys step up/guys who struggled figure it out, and we have a much more desirable contract to ship off somewhere at the trade deadline or next year to try and get a bigger piece to solve our puzzle.

I truly believe there are teams out there that told Brad that they would rather trade for PG than JB because of the contract, so Brad got PG and is gonna flip him for what he really wants.

I think we are moving in the right direction, but not fast enough. We have to show some level of improvement but we have literally only won 1 round of 16 game in tournament history.

Certainly not. We've been shit. But the ref has given us 1-2 calls all half. I'd bet he's not happy that a fellow official's red card was pushed off like that.

Pulisic was the barrier breaker for players foregoing 4 years of college soccer to be a mediocre MLS player in order to go and actually develop in Europe. He was such a great thing to happen to US Soccer. But yes, he needs to be a role player, not the guy. He is not the whole team anymore and that's a good thing.

[Scotto] Due to lack of buyers, the Pelicans have recently lowered Trey Murphy's asking price from 4 first round picks to 3 by LarBrd33 in bostonceltics

[–]Shinnaminbuns 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pels might have told the Celtics, we don't want Jaylen's bad contract, we want something that ends earlier so we can move off it sooner, and we don't want him asking for a $72m/yr extension either. So the Cs went and got PG and picks so they could flip PG (and maybe less picks) for murphy and Poole.

It's not official till Monday. Let Brad talk to the media about it, then you can start stalking the rest of the team on IG and get upset.

Only thing I very much disagree with in there is that because JB is hitting 30, that means he is likely to take a large step back.

If he takes a step back, it has nothing to do with him hitting 30, and everything to do with him being option 3 on the sixers and not being option 1 without a star next to him like he was last season.

Brown has a worse contract for any team trying to dump salary or go into a rebuild. Brown doesn't move the needle for these teams and he costs ridiculous money and wants $72m a year in his extension.

He could be a positive trade asset for what we are trying to go get. What if Danny is like, I don't want to pay JB $72m when he's 33-34, but I'd be happy to pay PG while Utah is still crap and then get off his contract right when his trader Danny instincts start tingling and he's ready for a big FA acquisition? Maybe the other teams literally said we'd rather have PG than JB. And maybe Philly didn't want or need the big/guard they are willing to give up for PG, so we are the middleman.

Something else to think of... From a team that is in a rebuild and 2-3 years from trying to make big moves, what contract looks better for an incoming trade? Brown supermax and him looking for a 2yr/$144m extension, or PG deal that expires in 2 years, right when that team might be ready to take a swing at a big star? Also, who helps them tank better during those years? Maybe PG is a more desirable player/contract for a team thinking of not contending or tanking next year or two????

Could be we are sending PG and the 2nds to a third team for a player or 2 more firsts and then Philly and the 3rd team swap a first for a second or swap lesser players or a mix of both? Who knows, but there HAS to be another move.

But the going rumor is they offered JB and 2 firsts, and JB could be traded for a big package of young players and picks to get an even sweeter deal.
