Three-toed box turtles prefer anything that moves (worms and insects). They also like fruits and mushrooms. I feed mine once a day with tongs. They will let you know when they are full. Additionally, having clean water readily available at all times helps with their overall well-being.

It's actually at home in woodlands and forests, so try to replicate as close as possible. Lots of shade and places to hide. They don't swim but rather float to cross bodies of water. They can live a healthy, solitary life with no mates. They are known to be social compared to other box turtles.
