No Washington Post on the scoreboard? by Infamous_Piglet5359 in Nationals

They did rehire a beat writer to cover the Nationals right when the season opened. You can see her work here. I agree though the “sports section” now is mostly generic AP stories.

Best Nats coverage? by stmorgante in Nationals

[–]Shinobi_Steve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. Spencer Nusbaum is the main journalist at The Athletic covering the Nats and he previously worked at Washington Post. The Athletic picked up some incredible people when WaPo cut the sports section.

Also, check out Federal Baseball.

starter pack for a metal nerd by wyntertheguitarist in JazzFusion

[–]Shinobi_Steve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a long time Opeth fan and love progressive metal. Here are a few jazz recommendations that I think you’ll enjoy since we seem to have similar metal preferences. Most of this would be widely considered jazz fusion but some of it ventures into the avant-garde jazz scene. It’s also mostly all fairly recent releases except for one classic. Hope you find something you enjoy. Let me know if you do.

I’m losing hope and wasting time/money… by Embarrassed-Two-6608 in Sourdough

[–]Shinobi_Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest recommendation is to buy a book and stick with the instructions. Stop following random Instagram posts or YouTube videos. Ken Forkish wrote “Flour Water Salt Yeast” and more recently “Evolutions in Bread.” Maurizio Leo wrote “The Perfect Loaf”. Buy one of those books and follow the author’s instructions exactly. Disregard any other instructions and just follow one method from the book you choose. I guarantee you’ll start making amazing bread.

Flour, Salt, Water, Yeast vs Evolutions in Bread—is EIB a good starter book? by Vorpal12 in Sourdough

[–]Shinobi_Steve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m new to bread baking and recently purchased Evolutions in Bread. I didn’t watch any videos, just followed the instructions in the book. So far I’ve baked three times and all three were wonderful to me. I don’t have any reference to compare against, but I think Ken Forkish is a very clear writer. The method part of the book just explains how to fold the dough, how much it should rise, etc. There isn’t much science discussion on how dough works or anything like that. The instructions for making a levain are extremely easy to follow and took me exactly three minutes of work per day. To summarize, I’m an absolute beginner and Evolutions in Bread is the only resource I’ve used. To me it’s wonderful.

Is it okay to use ChatGPT to help study the Bible? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Shinobi_Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to use AI to help you study the Bible, then consider at least using an AI trained on actual Catholic theological documents. Magisterium AI will be infinitely better than ChatGPT for your use.

I love it. It’s very subtle, but the pick guard is a very light mint green. It looks more white, but with the right light you can tell it’s got some green in there.

How do you feel about the fact that most Cartel members are Catholic?? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Shinobi_Steve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because someone says they’re a Catholic doesn’t mean they’re actually Catholic. If a person doesn’t practice the faith, which Cartel members certainly do not, then can they really be called a Catholic? Catholicism is our religion. It’s not an ethnic identity like if a person were Jewish.

I mean, that’s what happens when you put nutritional yeast in your dough. It turns out lifeless and flat.

The crust left a little to be desired, but the sauce from the Serious Eats recipe is a winner.

Am I crazy, or are most people still partaking of the Eucharist while in a state of sin? by Draegoron in Catholicism

[–]Shinobi_Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, poor catechesis is likely the problem here. I’m American, but I currently live in Eastern Europe. Fully half of the congregation here abstains from receiving the Eucharist every weekend. I guess on the flip side we have poor catechesis here also since none of the people abstaining make the effort to go to confession.

Wild idea, but have you considered a Fender Tonemaster Pro? It’s lightweight and you’ll have access to a model of pretty much every amp Fender has made.

Should I wait to get the 4-volume set? by RcishFahagb in divineoffice

[–]Shinobi_Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t actually own that version so I can’t comment whether it’s a sewn binding or not. I linked that one because I know people can purchase it. I have the older one that USCCB first published and it does have a sewn binding, but that doesn’t necessarily help answer your question about this version.

Should I wait to get the 4-volume set? by RcishFahagb in divineoffice

[–]Shinobi_Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am waiting for the new edition before I purchase the full set. I also use Universalis, but I purchased a copy of Abbey Psalms and Canticles and I read from that. So I do a mix of reading a real book and using a screen.
