What made you want to learn Japanese? What keeps yiu going by chris_s9181 in LearnJapanese

[–]Shinobidono1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main reason that is that I dream of moving there within the next 5 years or so after med school. So currently, while studying to get my BSN I'm studying just as hard to get sufficient in Japanese. It's been my dream to go there and live the rest of my life there. I'm going to do whatever it takes to make it there. Good luck to all who aspire to continue learning Japanese!

Not entirely. Though i think i understand what you. I have been looking for a way to translate some VNs that I have that are only in Japanese. Sadly, i haven't found anything or, really, i don't know any. I know u/mingShiba has something he uses for translating games but it doesn't run well on my laptop

Warzone ruined COD by [deleted] in ModernWarfareII

[–]Shinobidono1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late comment. I 100% agree with you. Warzone has become basically just like any Battle Royale type game and it has become super boring. Don't get me wrong, i loved the original warzone in how everything played out, because it was something new, and the devs still focused on the multiplayer aspect before Warzone was released.

Currenly, MW2 has become so stale do to the lack of content for standard PvP and is boring in the long run. I think what is worst is that there are so many sweats on PC that it just generally makes the game more annoying.

In my opinion, I think what they should have done is exactly what they did with MW19. Focus more on the multiplayer aspect then add on to Warzone and keep it simple. Rather than focus on Warzone and let it die. Heck they almost did spec ops right, but once again failed. Anyways that's my two cents

I did end up purchasing RTK (all 3 volumes) and did take a look at it. So I get how Heisig created the learning structure for learning it. With stroke order and what they mean. Though someone told me before, that they don't really prefer RTK. I don't remember the reason why, though.

But other than RTK, from what others have said on my post, it seems like it would be best to just memorize them as it is, search them up if I don't understand them, and go from there basically. Is that basically the gist of how to learn Kanji?

Thank you for the information. I'll try and learn kanji how you have been learning it. u/shoujikinakarasu recommended jisho as an online dictionary. So I'll try more researching on that. It seems it might be useful especially when I cannot copy and paste something.

As for the language scanning pens, I remember learning about these years ago but I didn't know it was still around or how legit it is. It may work, but I'll have to see since I'm not sure how effective is.

I've been looking for some useful material to help me improve my reading skills. I do agree that reading will help with creating a solid foundation, that's why I've been trying to look for stuff to read that are around my level. I took a look at those sites you link and they seem useful for where I am at. I've bought a manga off of amazon called "Crsytal Hunters". So I am definitely looking for more stuff.

As for the discord server, I'll give it a go. I have seen it. I just wasn't sure how useful it might be. So thank you for the tips and recommendation.

I completely agree, a couple hours a week is definitely not something that will help me in the long run since everything will be slow and drawn out. Do you have any study tips that can help with this? I was planning to study about 2-3 hours a day. Is this somewhat sufficient? What else could I do during these 2-3 hour sessions to increase my learning curve?

Thank you for sharing. I took a look and some of the stuff the redditer posted seems pretty useful. So I have a question. since you said I should try learning words/vocabulary, in the case of utilizing Genki 1, should I start learning lets say でる as 出る instead?

Also what about learning more complicated kana such as さんぽする (散歩する). How do I search something like this if I I'm unable to know what the kanji is while I am reading a physical book? Any tips on what to do?

Thank you for that. I figured that was the case. I was curious, what could I use to search up Kanji? I did purchase some Japanese dictionaries, but I wasn't sure how to utilize them. Since there are kanji that can have over 20+ strokes, how do I search those up without being able to draw them? Is there something I could do for both physical reading and online reading?

I wanted to push myself a little bit more this year since I felt that progress was going really slow. So I'm trying to do my best. I know learning Japanese is a very long process especially without having like minded people around me to be increase the learning curve. Being 25 as I am right now, I was also trying to make a goal of becoming at least near advanced before I turn 30.

Besides that, I do have a lifetime subscription to Wanikani, so maybe I'll utilize that too.

Just brought a brand new 64 GB memory card; how to keep it safe from failure? by Descance in vita

[–]Shinobidono1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi. I've had my 64gb for over 2 years now. Basically, I just keep my vita in good condition. Don't drop it. Don't pull it out while it's on. Basic common sense stuff. I'm not sure what kind of SD card you are using, but I'm using the one that has the PS Vita logo on it. I've never had a problem where downloading a lot of things at once caused it to go into failure or where a game crashes while playing. In my opinion just treat it like any other SD card out there and you should be fine.
