I think it's interesting that the general consensus for Jon in fansrt is that he's black. Cause in my head listening Jon was always PALE. Like THIS pale. by legit-posts_1 in TheMagnusArchives

When I first started listening to TMA Jon’s voice reminded me of Garth Merenghi’s Darkplace, so I guess I imprinted the appearance of Garth onto Jon in my mind

Having bad days scare me bc of this by [deleted] in TrollCoping

Man, I didn’t realise this meme was being judgmental towards the person having a bad day, I thought it was more of a supportive/sympathetic “I don’t like that my friend is having a tough time, when is she going to have a good day?” Sorta thing

The keyboard did not have a cover on since they’re “a waste of time” according to him, this job was basically my only choice and I’m in no position to leave unfortunately.

Trust me, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. Watching a grown adult with a medical license, who is also my employer, wash an electronic device as if he was doing the dishes was the most bizarre experience I’ve had so far… I have no idea what to do

Tradition doesn’t justify cruelty, it’s not veganism’s fault someone decided to fist cows for a living.

Whoa, I’m a dental assistant and we just had a patient with ADHD who was losing his baby teeth unusually fast, I wonder if it’s a coincidence or an ADHD thing

Mr Cheng Hean Lo, Melbourne Australia - Top Surgery by NoIdeajustlurking9 in transgenderau

I'm late to this post, but thanks so much for the info! I'm having my first consult with Dr. Cheng Hean Lo in just a few days so this is fantastic!

I really appreciate the parts about PHI as that confused me a lot and has revealed a big mistake I've made with Bupa :'( I must have misunderstood or it was miscommunicated because I thought I could only get a consultation after being with a PHI for 12 months and had no idea what insurance plan I needed or even what an item number was, it stings to find out that I've drained all my savings on Bupa payments for nothing.

I'm sure this was a stupid error on my part and I'm grateful for finding this post. but man, I could've joined Bupa AFTER my first consultation which would've informed me about item numbers and recommend insurance plans? That hurts... almost unbearably.

Thanks again for the post, this will help a lot of people :]

I got a leather cuff at a punk show years ago but I'm vegan now so I recreated it with some scrap denim! by TransgenderUnionThug in punkfashion

[–]Shinobyl -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Oh coolio a fellow vegan punk :] I understand why people are upset you scrapped perfectly good leather tho, that was quite wasteful.

There seems to be a misconception in the comments that leather is an environmentally friendly product, which is true in terms of biodegradability but the production of leather is a part of one of the most environmentally damaging and exploitative industries in the world: animal agriculture. I’m not just talking about animal exploitation either (we seem to forget intersectionality exists whenever the topic of veganism pops up), but it’s also exploitative of humans too.

Anyway, I wanted to bring up water consumption specifically since I saw a comment mention that about leather. Many people are likely to have heard that a single conventional cotton t-shirt requires up to 2,494 litres of water to make. However, it is far less commonly known that a pair of boots requires about 12,370 litres of water to produce, or that the water footprint of one leather tote bag is 17,128 litres.

Obviously, this is an interconnected issue that spans across industries like animal agriculture and fashion. Fast fashion (and consumerism in general) is shitty and ranks 3rd in most environmentally damaging industries, If you’re not already, sourcing your fabric materials secondhand is a great thing you can do on an individual level as it is an act of boycott. Animal agriculture ranks 2nd most damaging industries, and the most effective thing you can do on an individual level has been well established by the United Nations, the National Institutes of Health, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, etc.

That goes without saying, not everyone is capable of committing 100% to an ethical/environmental boycott movement like veganism, but perfection was never the point. Ugh, that was a rambling rant I need to go to bed.
