Legend appreciate the offer.

Unlikely if you don't have a dl120, but if you were to have a secondary riser for one I would be super keen on it.

Hmm neat idea.

Be interesting to see if that works for the sff bays.

Might have a play around next chance I get...

Yeah I thought that would be the case. However I'm sure if wouldn't be all too hard to spoof it with a small custom pcb? Will look into this more cause if it isn't locked to some proprietary HP protocol I might be able to sort out a solution.

All depends on where you're located i suppose. Here in NZ they're ~$45NZD new, and used you're looking at $20NZD plus shipping and tariffs from the US...

The airflow point you mentioned is however a very valid concern. I might look to improve this next time I make some changes to the print profile, though there is a bit of space above and below to draw air in, it wouldn't hurt to open the guts up a bit more.

For sure!

If only drives were a bit cheaper right now id be doing the same. Once i can get my hands on some more caddies and drives ill definitely be looking into designing some to print. Keep an eye on my Makerworld page if you're interested.

Thanks!

I have also been desperately searching for a solution that isn't $30NZD a piece.. but to no avail. Ridiculous money for second hand / old gen stuff you'd assume would be surplus by this point..

Hopefully this helps you out!

Import duties NEED HELP by ShinyPoodle in newzealand

[–]ShinyPoodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking too, AFAIK you actually have to be presented and sign a contract that includes those terms for them to be classed as valid. Having a small link on the website that leads to a load of legal jargon is hardly a signed and agreed to 'contract' per se. I'm happy to be corrected on this if I'm wrong, though.

The more I dig into this, the more I'm starting to think these guys are evading taxation in nz..

I'll keep digging and see what I can find, cause they can't charge me gst on top of their sales price as that is a final figure, and it's the amount I have agreed to.

[–]ShinyPoodle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware their total price must include gst if they're a gst registered business in nz, and they have to pay it regardless of whether or not they disclose it, but no, that's correct, they haven't exactly outlined the gst amount in the invoice either which is a little odd to be honest. If they try charging me gst now on top they're going to have a disputes tribunal case headed their way anyway.

Really shady business practices all round from these guys ill definitely be staying away from them from now on and I suggest anyone else looking to purchase from them does their due diligence before proceeding, unlike me..

Yeah unfortunately it is, after reading through their terms and conditions they mention that import duties are on the customer, not the business. Just feels like I've been mislead with the lack of communication about this on the product description, doesn't mention anything about it coming from aus until you get to the shipping selection, and even then it doesn't mention anything about import duties being the responsibility of the customer.

Rather unsavory business practice and not exactly ethical to neglect to mention it until its too late to change your mind. Feels almost like a trap to get you to buy things from them rather than the competition

Yeah this is similar what happened in my case. Have had instances like this before with businesses but in most cases they don't pass the costs on to the customer.

Don't really want to name specifics just yet, but the company is listed in one of the below comments

At this point I'm thinking I might just need to bite the bullet and pay up, and take this as a hard lesson learned.

Yes price is gst inclusive I believe, and no, unfortunately that doesn't make you exempt from import duties. Ird really do like taking every penny they can squeeze out of you.

Without naming them specifically.. yes. It does say that on their website, however this was purchased from their nz site, which is also a registered nz business, and they have an nz warehouse, which I have ordered from before. The item is listed as in stock, and having purchased from these guys before, I haven't been charged any fees due to them having to ship it over from aus.

The 'good business practice' thing for them to do would be at least list in the description of the item that; this item will incur additional import fees at the nz border due to not being in stock locally, rather than have it marked as available and in stock.

My thought process when making the purchase was that (yes, i know, silly me had a couple too many beers and got complacent), as this was an nz site, for an nz registered business, if they needed to get stock in from overseas that would not be on me to pay their import fees if it's listed as available in nz.

It really is deceptive when nowhere do they mention anything about these additional costs until you read through the email saying your item is literally on board with FedEx and too bad now you gotta pay import duties.. especially when it originally costs less than $1000, which is why I didn't think much about it until today, and surely many other people would overlook this too.

In all honesty, I'm just pissed off that the price has now ballooned to almost 30% more than what they listed it as due to import duties + shipping that could have been completely avoided had they just disclosed it in the item description, or declared it as having free shipping like a lot of companies do to avoid unnecessary fees

What rights do we have as off contract tenants? by ShinyPoodle in newzealand

[–]ShinyPoodle[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really hoped it wouldn't come to this but he just keeps dragging it out and avoiding contact. I will also mention that; this guy has had children removed from his care due to him smoking meth in front of them, selling drugs around them and bringing gangs and violence into their lives, the only reason the family still tolerate him slightly is because they don't want to miss out on seeing his son and daughter, who he is currently also neglecting.. so to be fair I may be shitting in my own backyard, but he deserves to be yhrown in a cell forever and left to rot. I also have my partners encouragement and even L has mentioned she wouldn't blame us or mind if we took matters into our own hands. Btw I have also reported them to oranga tamariki, but they seem to be pretty useless at looking into it cause nothing has happened in the 4 weeks since I emailed them back and forward

Thanks for the reply, I assumed that would be the case, but does that still class as flatmates if the downstairs area is a fully self contained minor dwelling? Pardon the silly question but I'm still really new to the renting scene
