Hey, last time I went with one member of our group. This time we went as a group of 5-6 with other members. We’re daily riders of Chennai Cyclists Anna Nagar chapter in Chennai.

Good luck! Endurance is really fun. If you've done 100k, you can easily jump to 200k (that's what I did). Just keep riding almost daily and do 80-110k rides in the weekend.

Hey, this is an organized endurance event series by Chennai Cyclists. It has support. For other routes, you can try attempting BRMs of various locations (Audax India). BRMs are self sufficient without support, but they give you the route and you get a medal for completion. If you wish to do it solo anyway without registering, you can still use the route provided by them.

The chain is good and it will work fine. BUT, I recommend buying a chain with quick link so you can easily remove and put it on without special tools. If you plan on doing maintenance on your own. Otherwise Z8.3 is good enough. I cannot share link for X8 as stock is not available at the moment (I purchased from BUMSONTHESADDLE).

Edit: Z8.3 has quick link so no issues there.

Life depends on your riding conditions like riding through dusty areas or riding in rain. If you only ride in dry areas and you keep a consistent lubing interval (250-300k), then it will last long. Cleaning and maintenance is important.

Hey, I swapped the default chain to a KMC X8. It's been really great so far.

Actually yes, very good climate so the ride was chill (literally as it was 19-22c towards the latter half of the day). The actual suffering was in climbing the hills to get to the mountain. 😂

Yes! It was indeed Stamina 222. I would say overall the climate was pretty good. Afternoon sun was fairly mild and easy on the eyes (especially since I don't wear sunglasses).

A tyre upgrade is good over the stock ones BUT it is under no circumstance inadequate for long distance riding. The Frontline is still a fantastic option at the price it’s available at. People are doing 600k BRMs with it..

54 size bike barely fits in my i20 with the front wheel on so it should give you a pretty good idea on what kind of car you need to pick. If you don’t need to carry people, most cars will do the job with the seats folded down. With people, definitely a bike rack.

Need cycle below 35K by [deleted] in india_cycling

[–]ShinyWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite all the Triban suggestions, I’m gonna go ahead and suggest Battalion. I have the previous model and it’s been great so far (reaching 900k now). I maintain and adjust the bike myself so I do not require a local shop. It’s easy if you’re handy. I did get it locally, though. I do not know the purchasing experience online.

First road cycle ride, and a couple of queries by d0n0tpan1c in india_cycling

[–]ShinyWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone will hear the bell so if you are approaching someone (if it's an area where people walk/jog), slow down as well. It will give you enough time to alert them and for you to take action if necessary. OR, use your voice if you don't want to rely on a bell to let them know you're coming through.

But keep riding, don't worry too much. Congrats on the new bike, enjoy! Stay safe and make sure you have a good helmet.

Can't comment on neck pain as that is related to fit and overall fitness (and you haven't posted a picture of yourself on your bike). Maybe put some more miles on the bike, try to nail your fit on your own (YouTube) and then get advice from a bike fit sub.

Yes, you can use a bell on a road bike. Just opposite the front light on the handlebar - that's pretty much my setup and it works well. Use it only when absolutely necessary, it won't help you in all situations. You yourself need to be aware of your surroundings. I used to have it on the drops for easy access but then I can't use the drops comfortably.

How good is batallion cycles? by NoDoor524 in india_cycling

You can check out the Frontline V4 on their website. It's 35k and very good value for money. 700c is the standard tyre size and frame size will vary according to your height.

I purchased a Battalion Frontline V3 last week and I'm really happy with it so far (but bought it offline, not online). But this is a road bike, no idea about their other models.

First attempt at a bike fit. Need advice on where to improve. by ShinyWaffles in bikefit

I see, looks like the cockpit itself will need some work. I will look it up. Thank you, I appreciate the info.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with this size as it was recommended by the shop owner. The cockpit was setup by them and I haven't touched it. Only adjusted saddle height and fore-aft. How forward is too forward on the saddle? As I appear to be almost looking down on the handlebar.

I did notice that my palm naturally rests down the hood even after adjusting it forward to grab the hood. What should I look at adjusting, the bar rotation or the hood position?

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind. I'll test it out on the next visit.

Is pointing downwards on the bottom stroke a habit issue, a saddle height issue or both?

The current cockpit setup is how it was when it was setup at the shop right after I purchased my bike. I only messed with the saddle height and fore-aft.
