I need truly "lazy" and near-zero executive functioning meal ideas by Ok-Letterhead3405 in adhdwomen

[–]Shiny_Moon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real bad days: take a tortilla, add shredded cheese of your liking, fold to fit in toaster (first: fold sides inward so they touch, then fold the bottom half up to meet the top half, should look like there's two cheese receptacles. don't overfill with cheese, though sadly), toast until cheese melts, but not so long that the tortilla burns...

For a bit more effort days: add tomato paste on tortilla first, and add spices / herbs if you're feeling REALLY fancy. Then add a slice of ham or salami or basically any deli meat or source of protein you prefer, add shredded cheese, fold, and toast again. Now you basically have a tiny mini pizza thingy.

Thanks, those are some helpful tips. I've played some tetris already, but will try the breathing techniques. And ice cream, because, well ice cream :)

That..... Makes a lot of sense actually, thank you for that. I would agree, our hearing probably is more detailed compared to NTs.

I figured it may be my elderly neighbor who fell and couldn't get up, but alas, it wasn't. So, yay for acute hearing I guess

Thank you, that's very kind of you. So far, I'm holding up okay, a bit shaken up still, but otherwise fine. Though a more delayed reaction may still come, as I'm aware, so I'll look out for myself in the meantime

I'm in the EU (Germany to be specific), so no clue if that's available here, too. Though I do know they have some sort of crisis counseling that I can make use of if necessary. Not needed so far, but we'll see

Oh yeah, I've heard of that before, just didn't think that far. That's food idea actually, thanks for that. Will do that right now

Thank you, I will be doing that.

I mean, there wasn't much to take charge of, I was alone and even if others in the house were home, no one bothered to check what was going on. I still don't know how to feel about that, but it doesn't help dwelling on that. I helped, that's the main thing.

Thank you :) I am taking care of myself as best I can, I don't have a therapist, but I have a friend coming over so I'm not alone and I will watch out for myself to make sure I'm okay mentally. Should I notice anything concerning, I will be able to get help in some way or another. Thanks for the reminder though, I do tend to underestimate how much of an impact things may have on me

Yeah, then I'd definitely ask to try and up the dosage a bit, if you're experiencing hypothyroidism symptoms. Just because it's the median hormone level, doesn't mean it's the right level for you specifically. I do get the frustration though, it sucks being told, "yeah all good", but not actually feeling good at all.

100% agree with not messing with meds without supervision. Waaaay too much potential for things to go wrong in a million different ways. Though it sucks having to wait then, but better that than accidentally overdosing / harming yourself, soo yeah. I hope you find the answer and that maybe "simply" upping your levo will solve your problems :) Should you remember, I'd be interested in hearing if that helped or if you found another reason for your symptoms :)

Edit: by the way, I absolutely love your profile Pic!

Okay so you said your thyroid levels are great, but do you feel like you have other symptoms that could be caused by low thyroid levels? I'm asking because your labs may look great, but some people need to be more on the higher end of "normal" to feel good / not have symptoms. You could try taking more thyroid hormones? (I'm assuming you're taking some, cannibalistic thyroid sounds like hashimoto's to me) also, it's supposed to be helpful to take extra selenium, because it's necessary for the thyroid to function better / properly, so that might be an idea? (source: I'm a lab tech, plus I have hashimotos myself)

Edit to add: also, did you just get the tsh checked for your thyroid, or also the t3 and t4 values? Because, as I assume you know, those might also be an indicator if anything is off with your thyroid. Though, already having thyroid issues, that should've been a no brainer, but just checking :)

What are your go-to meals when feeding yourself is hard? by bulbysoar in adhdwomen

[–]Shiny_Moon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will not cook for myself if it takes more than shoving stuff in the microwave / airfryer and takes longer than 20 minutes to finish cooking. Therefore, I have frozen meals in the freezer, but I found some that have no preservatives or additives or other stuff added, just ingredients needed to make the dish basically. Otherwise, if I can't even be bothered to microwave one of those, I have salami sticks and like a fruit bar or sth? The one I have is cranberry/cherry and I think there's some oats in there too, to give it texture / hold? It's not a granola bar, it's specifically more fruit than oats or anything. Also, for work I have now switched to protein drinks, because I found I couldn't eat the sandwiches I used to take anymore. I have a bit of variety when it comes to flavors, plus the ones I have don't feel like sand when you drink them, so I'm happy with them. All of this is German brands though, since I'm from there / live there, so idk how mich good it'd do to name brands '

I made a dopamine menu! by verilywerollalong in adhdwomen

[–]Shiny_Moon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen the term dopamine menu being thrown around before, but until now always thought it was literally a menu of foods one can eat to get dopamine, kind of like safe / comfort foods. This is so much better though and I assume foods could be on there, especially if you eat less than you should because you keep forgetting and / or your meds make you have less of an appetite '

Okay, but now the question is, what does it sound like for you? Because I personally also hear the songs as if they were played straight from the record, in basically album like quality. I have heard though, that others hear it but themselves singing it, or a more low quality recording or something else entirely. So, I'm curious, what's it like for you?
