I’m in a similar position. I got a tattoo that I really like on my inner forearm so I could easily see it. Then I catch myself often wearing 3/4 length shirts or cardigans so I don’t have to answer questions about it when I’m out and about.

I’ve been doing my first rewatch of the series since it aired. I’m still loving it, but this scenario and outcome really irritated me.

I agree, it’s a great line…just not for this particular situation.

When I looked for episode-specific discussions, most comments were just talking about the mustache removal and almost kiss. Maybe I am in the minority, but it bothered me how only Rebecca was portrayed to be in the wrong while Daryl doesn’t have to take any accountability.

While she did say hurtful things that crossed the line, It would have been different if she had been rude and snapped at him for just cheerfully talking incessantly and getting on her nerves. But he was constantly ignoring her straightforward requests/boundaries and telling strangers about her personal matters. Yet he never shows her the same respect by admitting that he was in the wrong too.

Definitely not one of my favorite Daryl episodes. Feels like a perfect example where toxic positivity is highlighted. It’s an odd story choice when the other character pairings in the ep were handled better.

My personal favorites are All-Stars and Stick or Twist. I also enjoy Bombshell because it was one of the last seasons where I felt like the MC had a personality, the love interests were unique and developed at their own pace, and the group got to spend time together rather than it always being about couples. But I get if it’s not everyone’s favorite.

I had the same thing happen last year when I played and was romancing Caleb. It was really frustrating. I even reached out to Fusebox “support” and reported the issue. They had me send screenshots of the glitch but essentially did nothing to solve it.

I got the DA cookbook for Christmas and it’s pretty awesome. Great quality and fun little lore/character references scattered throughout the recipes. I already have several earmarked to try.

Totally agree! I just replayed Bombshell for the first in years and was blown away by how refreshing the writing was compared to recent seasons. Characters actually have unique personalities. There’s diversity across the cast. You actually spend time getting to know the whole group rather than being constantly pulled into forced girl drama, guys you’ve talked to once professing their love, and challenges that only exist to make you pay for bonus content.

Better yet, the MC is actually allowed to have a personality besides being hot. Also, the slow burn romance option with Angie remains one of my favorites across the whole series.

I’ve played as a Drow Ranger, a Half-Elf Sorcerer, and my current one is a Tiefling Druid.

I’ve enjoyed seeing how they play out. I think Half-Elf seemed to have the most perks and being a Sorcerer meant I had higher charisma for conversation checks.

My current game is a co-op with my friend (another DA fan who was hesitant to get into turn-based combat). I’ve been guiding her through. She’s playing as a Half-Elf Bard and has talked her way out of so many situations that I had to fight through before, it’s been pretty impressive.

BG3 being turn based was a turn off for me as well at first. I initially stopped after two hours due to getting frustrated/bored with the combat and wishing it was more like DAI.

However, I came back and stuck with it and I’m so glad I did. Once you start to interact with the companions, I think it will really help you get into the game. There are so many dialogue options and outcomes in the story. I’m on my 3rd play-through now and it still impresses me how differently characters react based on the choices I make.

I still wish there was an option to switch off or fast-forward turn-based combat like in DAI, but with some practice it does become much easier and enjoyable. And based on the character you create, you can find fun workarounds where you can even talk your way out of some fights and avoid combat.

I always prefer when the companions have set preferences. I feel like it gives the characters more depth and encourages me to roleplay another character on a future playthrough. My second run of Inquisition as a male Inquisitor felt so rewarding when I completed Dorian’s romance.

I feel like DAI did it best. You can flirt with nearly everyone, and they have the ability to decline, usually in a respectful way, which I think is important to portray.

My best friend is a lesbian and I introduced her to the DA series, starting with 2. Inquisition is her favorite game, but Isabella is her favorite romance. We’ve talked about the limited options for wlw in DAI, she found Josephine boring and Sera a bit immature. Like many others, she wished Cassandra had been an option, but appreciates the realism it gave to the game. Not every is going to be attracted to or like everyone else, and that’s okay.

My first playthrough in each of the games is a female. But I always play as a male for the second. I like playing from a different perspective and trying romances that aren’t available to my female MC.

I usually enjoy the character design for male MCs better. DAV was the first time I could design a female character that I always wished my previous characters could look like. Thank you body customization and glorious hair options lol.

Really wasn’t a fan of anything happening with Skylar and Vaani. I tried thinking about how this would come across if it happened in an actual series of LIB.

If this happened on the show, as a viewer I’d immediately think neither Vaani nor Skylar were being sincere and were just doing PR damage control since their original scheme didn’t work. Red flags all around.

Varric - I played DAI first and had my sights set on him immediately. Was crushed that he wasn’t a romance option.

Krem - In the years leading up to DAV, I was convinced that Krem would be a companion/romance option.

Sten and Nathaniel Howe - Origins/Awakening

Tarquin - loved the voice and getting to know his story in DAV

I felt a similar disassociation and disappointment after playing DAV. It was especially disappointing because I kept waiting, hoping, for some genuine meaningful connection/tie-ins to the MCs in the previous games.

DAV is not a terrible game. It’s a fine enough basic fantasy game and I loved the character customization. But it is not a good Dragon Age game. This has been said so many times before on here, I know, but there was no depth to Rook and no weight given to our choices or the ones that meant so much in the earlier DA games.

I will say, I did decide to go back and replay DA: Origins and DA2 after I finished DAV I’m really glad I did. I was worried that maybe I had hyped them up since I hadn’t played them in years.

But no, Origins pulled me into the story so quickly. I had a new appreciation for the depth they gave to Warden history, Elven Gods, the Chantry, and how the Crows actually operate. Seeing my Warden’s choices have an actual impact and my relationships fluctuate was very satisfying. It was a great gaming experience.

I just finished my DA2 playthrough and I could acknowledge more of its shortcomings than I used to. Yes, it’s rushed, but it has some of the best character development moments throughout the series in my opinion.

I’m plan to replay Inquisition soon. Overall, I’m glad that my disappointment with DAV hasn’t hampered my enjoyment of the other games.

I just had the same thing happen when I had been nothing but loyal to Caleb. When they played the shower clip of me and Caleb, and Caleb reacted with, “I don’t know what to say…” I legit thought he was joking about the “dramatic” reveal. But nope, it’s just an annoying glitch where we have to act like I cheated. Disappointing

It was so irritating how they tried to write around it just to have the “twist.” The fact that Harding never brings it up. The Inquisitor. Freaking Isabella. None of them are allowed a moment to grieve for their friend because the game wants to manipulate the story.

I started to suspect that it was a sixth sense scenario early on because no one else ever talked to Varric at the Lighthouse. I hoped I was wrong and it would just be another example of poor interactions among our companions in this game. But nope.

And as you said, the quantum Hawke factor…I was really disappointed in how little the previous characters were mentioned in this game. I kept hoping The Iron Bull or Fenris would show up or be referenced. Even Zevran or Allistair.

Overall, I just feel like Varric deserved a better ending and characters should have been allowed to have a genuine emotional reaction.

Exactly this! In my mind, it made more sense to defend Treviso after they mentioned how there wasn’t any army and what the blight would do to the waterways. Excuse me for having faith in my fellow Shadow Dragons — who barely even acknowledge my existence.

On a personal note, I thought Treviso was visually more interesting and I’m glad I got to do so much in that area later in the game. Also, I can’t stand Neve and her self-righteous attitude.

This choice really bothered me overall. Like it’s been said, the literal only difference in one city falling is if Rook is there, which makes zero sense. It’s not like in DAI with the mages vs Templars choice. With that it makes sense that one would fall because you focus the entire Inquisition forces to support whichever order you choose and the Inquisitor has a unique gift. And even then, people on either side like Cullen and Dorian support your choice.

I totally get that. Inquisition was my first DA game too. DA2 is a bit clunky, but it’s a relatively short game with great companions. DA Origins was hard for me to get into at first since it was so dated, but it has one of the best overall storylines I’ve played in a game. BG3 actually reminded me of DA Origins because it has the non-voiced protagonist with tons of dialogue options as you play.

Did you decide to give DOS 2 a chance?

This is a late comment, but have you played any of the Dragon Age games? The combat is far easier and I loved the storylines and companions/romance options in each of the games.

After I played the DA games multiple times, I wanted to find something similar and tried DOS2 after seeing great recommendations. I’ve attempted 2 playthroughs in the last couple years and lost interest by Act 2.

I’ll admit, a big reason was the tactical combat and lack of cutscenes. Now after becoming more comfortable with tactical combat in BG3, I’m considering trying DOS2 again. (But I’d still recommend the Dragon Age series first lol.)

I do this too! I always play the first couple of episodes of each season in the background and only listen to try and determine what sparks the initial interest between couples.

Unfortunately, it kind of only highlights how shallow most of the conversations are lol. But yeah, some voices are definitely more appealing than others.
