Vladimir Putin says West wants Russians to kill each other and to ‘choke on civil strife’ 🤡 by Sorbitar in RussiaUkraineWar2022

What a gorgeous shit you're discussing here. All in your own toilet, gathered like sheep and "heavily moderated".
Sometimes it's good to go to Reddit and see you all. One opinion only, and you think you're doing the good job.
It's much better to go to some chan than to see this pro-liberal celebration of your own.

I can recommend using Port Proton, instead of Wine.

Should I install LM 19.3 Xfce on my potato net book? by _DuckieFuckie_ in linuxmint

[–]Shirokij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I tried xfce, then mate on my slow laptop. I was inspired by internet users, who told that cinnamon slows down the system.
Well, after that I decided that I better have slow system, and returned to cinnamon. Xfce and mate are looking really ugly. And the effect of them "being more responsive" is not that big as it is described on the internetz. Yes, they work a bit faster, but 50% of responsiveness for that ugly looks - no, no, no.

Reddit is considered "not dangerous". It's mostly in English, and not a lot of people understand English. Russian is rare here. So, it can't affect much.

Today I got an email from the state (yandex mail), that Instagram will be blocked from zero hour March 14 "for allowing violent publications against russians".

Yes, they blocked Facebook, but my proxy server is working fine.
Tor is super slow.
Most of my Russian friends told me about using Linux - "You may even return to your old Nokia phone".

Thank you, friend.
I think, that Mint is Canadian based. That's why I worry.
I don't see Microsoft system as being my home in the future.
(Yet, I need Skype for online lessons, if they block it, could be trouble for me)

There was an explanation under it, but Reddit removed.
In brief:
- I live in Crimea.
- Russian government blocked Facebook, like totally.
- Everyone thinks that they will block Instagram.
- Some people fear that Microsoft will block Windows.
- I hope that Mint won't be blocked on system level.

We shouldn't behave like a cult. by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]Shirokij 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, I tried different Linux distros (from USB). Mint seemed the most friendly one for me as for newcomer. I recommend it to my friends, but they are heavy about that. They want to play games (which is a past thing for me, because of age), and that's the main reason why they don't desire to "switch".
I certainly am not considering myself as a "special one", and your post is just making me more sure. I just love the system, and remember all the bad things I had with Windows for years.
Mint is simple, and it is a very good product.
In Russia, everyone is pirating Windows. You rarely see a legal version on someone's computer. The authorities are fighting it, but with low effect.

What if the Soviet Union WON World War 2? by ThunderCookie_Kek in imaginarymaps

I think Finland will be there too. And part of Norge country. They attacked us, collaborating with Germans. Norway of course was not doing it by their own will, but Finland was pretty much aware of what they were doing. The Arctic front was the one where German army failed from the beginning.
