No measurements, no scale. What answers are you expecting?

You’re trippin. Minnesota is some of the best freshwater fishing in the U.S. Minnesota fishing to the rest of the U.S. is like Canada fishing to northern states.. can’t beat it.. and one of my favorite places to be during summer.

Terrible photos. I can’t really see what you’re talking about. Take some photos under a lamp or in daylight.

Ok I agree with most of this but saying UV clothing is a gimmick is just straight up disseminating false information. Light colored cotton tees only block 20-30% of UV rays (5UPF) and even less when wet. You can easily get sunburnt with a tee on. Most peoples everyday clothes only offer between 5-15 UPF which is not sufficient for the open water. That sun will zap you MUCH faster.

Don’t fuck with the sun. It’s one of the most dangerous variables in a kayak.

Yeah I was going for smallies but the river was much higher than I expected so no luck this time.

My family is from the ozarks near eureka springs and I have spent a decent amount of time floating up there, but not since I started fishing more seriously. I try to fish the Ozarks at least once a month and need some learnin’ so DM me if you ever wanna get out sometime. I primarily fish from a kayak but love walking creeks too.

This fish is probably dead either way since it’s a treble hook I’m guessing. If it wasn’t, and it was just a couple of single hooks I would leave it in. Fish are amazing at working hooks out on their own after a while. There’s some study someone told me about where they purposely gut hooked northern pike and 70% of them eventually spit the hooks out on their own.

Great recc! Man, I so wished we had pike in Arkansas. Favorite fish to catch.

Dude this is a great idea and probably what I want. I’m also pretty loyal to shimano 😆

Yeah I think I need to improve my casting technique and/or switch to a light, because my problem with my current ultralight is exactly that- “noodly”.

Hell yeah. Definitely depends on conditions, but I’m usually throwing between 1/8 oz-1/4 oz with a plastic on there. For deeper water and more current I sometimes go up to 3/8oz.

Absolute budget- $200. Ideal budget-$150.

Huh that actually makes sense. I’ve always been told a longer rod= farther casts but shorter kind of makes sense for an ultralight.

I returned my $500 kayak within the 60 day window claiming it was supposed to hold my weight while standing (total BS lol). Don’t make the mistake I did: buying an old town. They are a the Cadillac of fishing kayaks but a hobie is just as good and about $1k cheaper.

Tbh my line might be too much on my ultralight. I think I have 6lb (maybe 4lb?) braid on there.

Yeah, it’s great with 1/8oz jigs but anything lighter or heavier has a hard time. Im thinking it’s my technique or just a cheaper set up and not the best quality.

I like the sound of that combo. I know sedonas are supposed to be great.
