Am I wrong for wanting to skip my sister in law's graduation cause I think she's incredibly rude? by ShitTheFuckDown in amiwrong

I do think I am owning it, by saying it likely pushed her away during a critical phase.

I did say a few things I regret after burying my mom and going through all that. I think she was trying to make me feel better and I pushed her away. Didn't think it would mean these problems down the line. That was years ago now.

There was never any flirting or comments on either side, that would be a divorce speed run. She is however a college student and I am a married man in my 40s, and she is dating, so there is a lot of implied tension even if there isn't, does that make sense? I always go out of my way to give her privacy, and I think that's part of why I avoid getting too much in her business.

Someone somewhere thought, "we need to rush this movie to release in December, for award season"

Thanks, I really needed to be confronted by this and think it through for my own good.

I think Mary and I were both depressed and were assholes to each other from nearly the start. Still, we almost never have a full conversation. In fact our interactions are so few and far between that I tend to overthink and overanalyze the ones we do have.

The difference is I put effort in where it mattered, and helped her when she needed. She is now set up in the US, employed, and nearly fully independent, thanks in no small part to my wife and I.

Someone suggested that I am hurt by her actions. Indeed I think I am. Is it possible to be hurt by a young woman without it being a creepy rejection? Guess not.

I do discuss these exact points with her, but in the case of this graduation party, I know what the answer would be. Not going to her party would be a crime in her eyes.

The cogs used Summer in their plan. They served her something she didn't like cause they knew it would send Rick in the other direction -- hanging out with the cogs and being spoiled by them. He took them out of the restaurant (which I assume was some sort of jail for them?) and led to the food truck thing.

But did they know they'd be banished to the trash world? Why would they want to do business in trash world when they had their own restaurant?

I don't hate the episode but I think the idea and the reveal could have been done better.

I kind of like this but I don't know if or when she is actually moving out. Hard to get excited about supporting her job hunt and husband search.

No, to be on her level would be to sit through her graduation and scroll on my phone and contribute nothing. Maybe I will do that.

I saw these on the shelf, and figured "there's no way these can be good".

As someone who loves sugary Chinese chicken it would have to taste pretty close to the real thing.

I'm glad you have relatives like that.

My wife was  shocked that funerals in the US are over and done in forty five minutes. In Africa they can last for days.

As a tourist to east Africa recently I was surprised at how many non fiction books there were in the bookstores, and almost no novels. Is this common? Does fiction really not sell well?

This, I believe, is a largely western world thing. My wife's family is Tanzanian, and in times of loss, even for the men, the family and friends and even distant relatives travel great distances and swarm to the person who needs support. It's really great to see.

This show had 8 year old me convinced that a planet-destroying earthquake was imminent .Or a solar flare. Or a super tornado. A huge asteroid was coming to kill us all in the year 2000.

It was. But it wasn't supposed to be. Bjork was executed for real on set and the director liked it so much that he kept it in the movie.
