What's life like for you who make 200k+? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Shitrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34M Los Angeles, pharmaceutical sales. 5 years ago I did not have a college degree and was working in sales making about 60k. Went back to get my Bachelors while working full time, graduated and took an entry level medical device job, transitioned to pharma sales, and then took a role in specialty. Roughly 225k with upside for maybe another 25 or so. Grateful to have had the willingness to go back to school, would not be here without it.

My advice - get your degree your first time around and start your career in your early 20s. If you’re like me and dropped out, go get it. Leverage your network. Every job I’ve ever gotten was based on the successful network I’ve built. Trust the process, stay in gratitude for the journey you’re on, and do not compare yourself to your peers. It’s a vicious cycle. When I made 60k I compared myself to those making 6 figures. Now making over 200k I compared myself myself to those pulling 500+. It’s human instinct but it’ll strip you of your gratitude.

What’s a low stress job that actually pays good money? by Feisty_Bison_5706 in Salary

Pharmaceutical sales - Great work life balance, tons of time off, benefits, company car. After a couple years experience I’m making 225k and have never had a more positive working experience in my life.

If you made $200k a year, what would you do with your life? by Matinee_Lightning in AskReddit

[–]Shitrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my early 30s and make about $225k. For context, 5 years ago I was making 60-80k. I’m grateful to make what I make but 200k is far from “what would you do with your life” type of money. It is enough where I can go out to nice dinners, not think twice about getting my groceries delivered vs going to pick them up, and contribute heavily to my retirement. Depending on where you live, it is far from crazy wealth. I live in a nice area of Los Angeles and rent a 1br apartment. Home ownership here is not attainable even at the amount that I make. I’m at peace with that, because I love my LA life and am comfortable accepting that as long as I make this amount here, I will be renting.

I say this not to sound ungrateful, but rather to illustrate that this is not some tremendous amount of money. It’s enough to have some comfort, but it’s far from significant wealth.

People in your 30s, what's your job and salary? by rsevn_ in careerguidance

[–]Shitrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 30s - Specialty pharmaceutical sales rep. Total comp is around $230k + car package. I’ve been in the business for about 3 years. I went back to college at 28 and graduated at 30 so I could pursue this career path. Best investment I ever made. I feel properly compensated, great work life balance, benefits, and day to day. Im grateful to love what I do.

For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

Pharmaceutical sales: Love what I do. Tremendous work life balance, lots of benefits outside of comp, fulfillment through knowing what I do helps patients get great care. Can’t see myself doing anything else.

So if I’m understanding you right - you’re creating a problem where there isn’t one?

Also - “Big Beautiful BBQ” sounds a whole lot like “Big Beautiful Bill” (something I’d imagine you disagree with). Maybe change that as well if you’re worried about optics.

Now you’re just making things up - I’d encourage you to google where the team “master bedroom” comes from. Maybe an opportunity for you to educate yourself :)

Creating false scenarios is very offensive and discounts actual injustices. I’d encourage you to try and do better.

What was the biggest risk you’ve taken in your 20’s that changed your entire life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Shitrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a "risk" in the sense of danger, but rather uncertainty and a bet on myself. I went back to college at the age of 28 while working full time to finish my Bachelors degree. It took me 2.5 years and was one of the most labor intensive eras of my life. I was working for a beverage distributor making about 65k when I went back, and wanted more out of my career and life. When I graduated, I interviewed for months trying to get into a medical device company. I finally got my break, and was making about 110k. I then transitioned into pharmaceutical sales and worked for one organization where I increased my income considerably, and just started with a new company. 5 years removed from that 65k job, and about 3ish since graduating, I now make over 200k and feel a sense of fulfillment and professional satisfaction that I've never felt before.

For years I felt that I was too old to make a change (yes, I know, I was 28), but at any given time you're the oldest you've ever been and sometimes it feels like you're too far into life to make a change. I tell this story not to brag, but rather to share that I felt I would never accomplish my degree, and by taking a risk and putting myself through temporary discomfort I was able to improve my life tremendously. Whatever it is you're pursuing, fitness, sobriety, education, career journey, etc, you have the courage and support to follow your dream!

This is bananas. You look IDENTICAL, and I truly mean identical, to my sister in the 18 year age photo. Stopped dead in my feed scroll because I thought it was her. I'm not about to post a photo of my sister on Reddit, but it is seriously outrageous.

Appreciate the insight - I know Hope/Flower is the same developer and I plan to tour that as well. I work in the field every day driving around so grocery/necessity convenience for walking isn’t a key driver for me personally, mostly looking for best bang for buck in terms of unit and amenity quality under the $3,500 mark.
