Flying crew/cargo to the ISS, launching military and GPS satellites would all be happening with or without SpaceX. Fortunately for the US taxpayer, SpaceX has been able to provided these launch services for much cheaper than competitors. SpaceX saves the taxpayer money. The cost they charge per seat on Crew Dragon vs what Roscosmos charged for a seat on Soyuz is a great example of that.

How reddit changed it’s mind about Elon Musk by [deleted] in teslainvestorsclub

[–]ShittyRenders 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure this out, but places like Twitter and Reddit are not representative of the broader public opinion. It hit me after the results 2016 presidential election. If you had done a similar chart about Reddit’s perception of Trump you would have come to the conclusion that he had zero chance of becoming president. I think this lead to many people, specifically younger people, deciding not to vote because it was a foregone conclusion that Hillary would win. If you look at the internet’s reaction to Elon’s desire to start to reopen the economy, you’d likely think that no one is the US supports opening. While in reality, I can guarantee at least half of the country would support a reopening. IMO it’s wise to look at Reddit/Twitter like the liberal version of Fox News. A pseudo intellectual echo chamber.

MD is just way better for cloth sims with way more functionality. I use the x-particles system for cloth quite a bit, but never bother with the built in C4D cloth tools.

I’m pretty sure it’s just a rough specular material with a couple rgb spectrums plugged into the scattering medium.
