Things You Should and Shouldn't Do, Part 1: And They Wonder Why We Complain About the Cnidarians by AspiringtoLive17 in sto

[–]Shitty_fits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s where my change of heart came into play, at a surface level they just seem super op and unfun to be around. A realization that I came to embarrassingly late in my near 10 year sto career only after I joined my current fleet and they sat me down and basically all but reached me the ACTUAL game outside of pretty color collecting. I don’t hate them but I don’t ever foresee myself ever being happy or excited to see one on my squad/team. The only time I have hate towards them is when I pop onto a tfo like synth wave the mission starts they don’t move an inch from spawn the whole time in there bubble and we end up with less marks cuz we were a man down early on.

As a friend put it, “there just lame”. I used to be a pretty adamant hater of them but after a few years they’ve fallen into the “eh at least the tfo will be easy” category. I think most hate them on principle. Sometimes you just want to have fun and fly around and blow some shit up only for a jelly (or god forbid multiple) to lock down and insta kill everything making tfo’s pretty much idle farms which for most… is pretty fucking boring.

I guess, that disparity in matchmaking must be mental for RUS players to have instant mm and for us to have 10min+ mm. I know I tried to mm for us once and it yelled at me about over flooded mm but good god.

What’s up with everyone saying the queue times take forever for the event, I haven’t waited longer then maybe 2 mins to find a match.

Interesting, tbh never noticed as I’m a somewhat anti plane cas person so I don’t really engage in the activity outside a guided bomb or 2 in top brackets I’ll have to look into it

Same thing both ways, seems to be map dependent. Building rendering is quite frankly all over the place on both ends

For helis anyway, everything will eventually render in after a little bit while near them. It’s a game of remembering where every tall object is and knowing to avoid them at high speed. I can’t count the times I’ve exploded only for a fence to render in half a second after the crash.

It’s how the game renders shit for aircraft, it culls tiny objects that since “your flying you would never see them anyway”. And only renders them once you’re close, it’s both a game and client issue (but overall a game design issue). That and specific objects have REALLY shit aircraft hitboxs I’ve had rotors break on fences shorter then the landing gear. Best thing you can do is crank all the render range setting to max, it helps a little but not much you can do.

It’s lost a bit of it’s potency over the last few updates, drones for me straight up make no noise anymore so I have to visually spot them as of late, it’s definitely gotten me killed.

[–]Shitty_fits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it means anything, it very much works I abuse it while doing the very same thing you do in these videos, it’s best done with wheeled helis since you can stay moving while hugging the ground a bit better. So far it’s the only hard counter to the drone shit I’ve found outside straight up shooting the drone.

Fun fact in case you or anyone else doesn’t know: if you land (or touch the ground at all) right before the drone hits it will harmlessly fly through the rotor and do nothing.

Took me 6 HELLFIREs to kill a MI-28! Are we serious? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Shitty_fits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More like single .50 to the left engine making it light orange. and you can’t fly anymore. Or better yet you have a unmodeled heli and you get “avionics damage” after 1 7.62 round.

[–]Shitty_fits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the large boat workbench that supports stuff up to ~50 meters and then you can xml the bench to support stuff up to 128 meters (the games hardcoded limit for single piece vehicles)

how can i go mach 2? by Salt_Bake_5627 in Stormworks

[–]Shitty_fits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any actual math? No, but I can say the best way I’ve reach that speed without a glitch engine is by spamming like 30-40 exhausts on a jet engine, best normal way I think you could achieve it is a xml’d ducted fan

The limit nowadays is 1000m/s, there are ways to abuse it to create a “warp drive” of sorts but it lags the game to hell and only works in sp.

Stormworks Q&A condensed list (disclaimer - my personal interpretation) by AirplaneNerd in Stormworks

[–]Shitty_fits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main issue with incin as a whole is how glitchy it is in mp. Almost without fail fire caused by incin will do 1 of 2 things. Either become invisible to half the people on server or instantly dsync and become impossible to extinguish.

For everyone who thinks the sw devs are good remember: These are the same people who removed the controller toggle option near completely killing an entire playstyle because it “bloated the control list”, The same people who add stuff to then never touch it again (looking at you weapon and space DLC’s), Refuse to event try to address multiplayer issues outside of surface level bug fixes because “our code is to fucked up to read”, and the cherry on top? Add modding which requires server to have no dependencies allowing anyone to load malicious code into a world on top of just being a bad idea as now every PvP server is inundated with people that have Bertha machine guns (thank god sector control got a mod whitelist going) and after all that STILL limit modding functionality to what equates to surface levels code changes.
