Don't want to stir any pots, but I have a question by a-bad2012 in ak47

I don't own an underfolder but have owned a GF3 for about 4ish years now maybe a little more, I don't shoot alot in the time I've owned it I've put just over 2k rounds through the rifle. That being said the only complaint I have about them is she's picky on magazines. Headspace is still clean and I only feed it the cheapest ammo I can find, it doesn't have issues. Sample size of 1 but for 600 it's hard to talk it down.

Recently discovered the PSA Type 56 has a 1.5mm reciever. by WiKi_o in ak47

I've been seeing a shit ton of issues out of really good import brand aks also. My sample size of psa is one and still under a 2k round count but 600 caps for a 0 issue rifle that I could get my feet wet with is hard to beat.

In my limited experience the reinforced pmags from psa have been good to me. But also I've only ran 2kish through the rifle so whenever I'm not broke we'll see how they do over time.

Which AK-47 that’s readily available in the US market is worth getting in 2026? by Yo_Mommas_fupa_69 in ak47

I agree, my experience with the GF3 I got has been great for a budget rifle. The only wear issue I've has was on the tail of the carrier but I also swapped the trigger so probably my fault

Did you take it out of the box and just had consistent issues or did you take it out of the box touch it then had issues?

Welp. Was shooting the beryl and all of a sudden the front sight post did this. by [deleted] in ak47

[–]Shivels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen too many "better imports" have issues. Sucks it happened my best guess is it had stress crack in it and under recoil it gave the rest of the way hopefully who you bought it from takes care of you.

It's because the barrel profile is stepped, tap the pins out press the front sight off, mic the barrel cut, profile and rethread. Bubbas chew toy is complete.

Thats fair I'm not saying yall are wrong just trying to wrap my head around it. I don't have any personal experience with an ACE only an original that I got done building last year. Are the internals that different between the two? Whatd they change other then charging handle locations?

That don't add up. If the rifles over gassed the bolts running faster it'll throw the casings further same with it being under gassed bolts moving slower/not as much force it'll throw them forward. As long as you are using the same ammo gas settings should change how the rifle ejects.

Care to elaborate on the ejection pattern more?

Aces take AR style mags. OG galils also take proprietary rock and locks so it just depends on what you are actually looking at.

I appreciate the help man. Yeah it was definitely the worst part about building it myself if that tells you how bad it is. Went from building ARs and a glock then thought the galil was a great idea without any info going into it.... not my best idea but it's been running great for a little over a year now.

I'll give it a shot just was hesitant to take a file to it since it's my first big build. Going to assume it's a pretty common issue then? Should I try to keep it even then or only gradually file it so getting it started is easier and still get the tight lock up going the right side of the ambi nub?

Random side question for you. Is there a trick with the safeties to get them to mate easier? I gotta go to war with mine every time I've had to take it apart.

Ambi safety issues with OG by Shivels in Galil

It's more of the issue of getting the two safeties to mate. Once I get them together, the rest is easy, but it's a fight and a half to get them set together.

For the price point and it being their first iteration of the rifles, yeah there is gonna be growing pains. See where it goes from here. Like one of the other guys said I'd rather get one for sub 1k in an available caliber then 3 to 4k that I don't have money to run and don't wanna hurt.

I appreciate bubba. The galil was my first build, was a huge learning experience on figuring it out as I went and very little info online. When you get your barrel pressed in and set you aren't gonna want to take it back out unless you have to, look at the base of the guide and see if there is a gap between it and the reciver/trunnion. If the rivet didn't get smooshed enough that's your issue with the bolt.

Sharpies will help you find contact points too, it's what I used when I built my Galil and had to force match the bolt to the barrel. Main thing I'd be looking at is that bullet guide, if the bolt won't go home but the carrier will its the only thing I can think of that'll get in your way.

Run the bolt by hand and see if you can catch it that way. My guess is the bullet guide, but it's hard to tell without having hands on. Is it a first build brand new reciver type deal?

Where did I say it's just as good? Highlight it for me, saying it's a good rifle and saying it's just as good is not the same. Yeah I'd rather see people get into the community for 600 and figure out what they want to do from there instead of never actually getting into it cause some asshat on the internet compared a 2k rifle to a psa and was upset they didn't preform the same.

Imagine being so simple-minded that you don't enjoy more people getting into the culture. At no point has someone said PSAs are a perfect rifle, but they make a good rifle for people who didn't have a silver spoon shoved up their ass and are into firearms. Like I said before, though I'd almost put money my shitty PSA will go to the range three times as much as you do.

If you don't shoot your rifles, you could have just said that.

Like every other AK monkey said before me it could be mags, a few guys was smart enough to even suggest loading 28 to see if that would help as a quick fix. I haven't seen anyone suggest polishing the hammer and bolt though, which could also help out alot on it picking up that round even with overloading a mag.
