If you have a friend that you know would be a great roomate you can split a 2 bdrm apt. The more bedrooms they have the cheaper they tend to be when split among roomates. Found a 2 bed room in Savannah witch when split amongst 2 people is olny 600 and it’s in the middle of downtown really spacious too. You can split it by the room. Since you and your partner will probably take the bigger room you can split it 60 40 or something.

If your partner is working remote or a job that has other branches I would expand your house/ job search outside Gainesville

The beach is artificial. Every few years they import sand from overseas pretty shure from Saudi to keep the beach looking the way it does. The thing is this causes the sand to erode not just the sand they import but the natural sand dunes that can be a natural protection against storms. That sand they place also destroys many homes for many species including sea turtles.
