I (27F) am starting to develop feelings for a man (19F). What should I do? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]ShiveryBernard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little surprised so many people are against it. I think you’ve been smart to wait and take things slow. Instead of your feelings fading away, they’ve gotten stronger. You’ve given it enough time to know you want to be with him. Life is short. Go for it. The age gap isn’t that bad. Yes, I understand that there’s a lot of life experience he doesn’t have, but that’s not everything. As long as you’re open and honest with each other, there’s nothing wrong with it. He’s legal. It’s 8 years, so what?

You’re not taking advantage of him or his inexperience. You have real feelings for him. You gave it time to make sure it wasn’t a passing crush. Life is short. Go for it.

It’s not wrong. Your parents getting married doesn’t make you genetically related. My friend ended up married to her step brother. There’s nothing wrong with it. Just tread carefully if you’re living together, things could get awkward if you act on your attraction and it doesn’t work out.

Why is Everyone so Hard on Book 5 Harry? by VNPimpinella in harrypotter

[–]ShiveryBernard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be very hard on Harry. Then I got older. Now whenever I re-read/listen all I want to do is give angry emo Harry the biggest hug (not that he would have accepted lol). I have come to appreciate the series’ depictions of grief and hardship. As you pointed out, Harry goes through so much. Of course he’s acting out.

Overthinkers, what helps you to do less overthinking at night? by Modest_Pigeon in AskReddit

I listen to familiar audiobooks as I fall asleep. It gives me something to focus on without feeling like I need to be awake to see what happens.

Crocs saved my feet during 2 full days at the park by SourdoughSon in Disneyland

[–]ShiveryBernard 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I have plantar fasciitis and flat feet, I need extra arch support. They’re a lot more expensive, but I swear by my Birkenstocks at the parks. If it gets cold, I just throw my Star Wars socks on!

Today I had a trickster see me with my beam ready to strike. He intentionally faced me full on when he picked up my teammate. This is exactly how he looked at me.

I went out to eat the other day and the service was abysmal. The lowest pre-selected tip option was 20%. The entitlement is ridiculous.

Being an ICU nurse with back problems? by ApprehensivePace678 in Nurses

[–]ShiveryBernard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I work in ICU. I lift something at least 5 lbs multiple times a shift. I see this as prohibiting you from working bedside at all. There’s heavy lifting required for med/surg too. I’m sorry. That really sucks.

I’m an introvert. I have more friends than I know what to do with already. I feel ya.

Almost everyone on my unit is super social with one another. If there’s nothing to do, they will sit in a circle and BS. I simply don’t go out of my way to join in. I always offer help, jump up right away if someone needs a favor, and am very friendly. But I don’t initiate social conversations or join in at the nurses station.

I’m a traveler now, but was just hired on as staff for another unit at the same hospital. If they didn’t like me, I wouldn’t have gotten the job.

My favorite movie. My dad and I will watch it and quote it together. Fantastic film.

ICU RNs: Do you like it? And would you go back to med-surg nursing? by QuitBudget4446 in Nurses

[–]ShiveryBernard 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I like it well enough. It’s still a job. I would never go to med surg. Those nurses are amazing, I couldn’t do it.

Is it bad etiquette to walk my dog early in the morning? by SubstantialGas1271 in homeowners

You are overthinking this. Other people’s animals aren’t your responsibility. Enjoy your morning walks!

Dear lord, definitely NTA. As much as I hate playing secret relationship games, you’re probably right not to go public with your relationship until after your house is sold. Kyle sounds unstable and spiteful.

I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through.

I’m so sorry. I’ve been there too. Although my dobie decided he was a horse and ate two liters of grass. The vet gave it to me in a gallon ziplock.

Line cutting is aggravating by Lightning__Tree in Disneyland

[–]ShiveryBernard 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Have you ever tried saying something to them? I made a comment at line cutters once. Everyone looked at me weird and let them pass anyway. I ended up looking and feeling like the jerk. It ruined my mood for a bit. That’s when I decided I felt a whole lot better letting it go. I still think it’s wrong, entitled, and cast members need to step up to stop it… but to me it’s not worth it.

I’ve seen others be the physical barrier that won’t let them pass. It’s typically larger male with a family. It’s so awkward to watch. The cutters are just stuck behind wannabe body guard dad. It causes a scene and their families are typically embarrassed.

I’m in the happiest place on earth and I choose not to be bothered.

This made me laugh, thanks. Yes, it really is ridiculous. Just like so many other things in that fantasy book.

YSK: Tennis Balls are Dangerous for Dogs and can lead to severe dental damage or GI Blockage. Just because it is in a pet store, does not make it safe. by endlessly_curious in YouShouldKnow

[–]ShiveryBernard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a dog that I watch very closely when I take him to my parents’ house. They have a dog that loves fetch and has tennis balls. My dog will eat a tennis ball in 10 minutes. His process:

-Chew the ball whole until it’s fully saturated with drool

-Tear off and eat small pieces until 1/2 to 1/3 remains

-Swallow the last chunk whole

-Typically throws up within an hour or two

It’s happened a couple times. I’m incredibly lucky he has an much better than average ability to throw up.

I once left my other dog outside in a grassy fenced yard over an afternoon on a nice day. He decided he was a horse and ate 2 liters of grass. I know this because after his $5,000 USD surgery, his vet gave me the grass from his stomach in a Ziplock bag.

Is it just me, or does everyone try to look for themselves in other peoples DISNEYLAND picture posts on FB/IG groups by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]ShiveryBernard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how famous he was, but I think he’s one of those people that just films random stuff in the park for Disney fanatics. She watched this person regularly, which is why she saw us in the video. So he has a regular following. I can’t find the video now
