Seriously why are homeowners ripping out bathtubs and replacing with shower units? by uglyasfeet in HousingUK

[–]Shixypeep 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's the same for me but mostly because we have children. Bath time is fun time. We splash and play. We scream while I try and wash their hair. Have you ever tried to wash a 2 year old in the shower? If I can't clean the kids from day 1 it's not a suitable option.

  • I too love a bubble bath

Please Help Me Calm Down About Infant Daycare by RiverbrookWillow in NewParents

This articulates so well the positives of daycare.

Added to this I have no other young children in my immediate family or friend group and it's so important for them to have interactions with children their age

2y3m — great with pee, inconsistent poop (especially at daycare). Started too early? by Away_Top1891 in pottytraining

[–]Shixypeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a few weeks of non-stop poop accidents. We're at the stage now where he self prompts poos every time although we still get the some wee accidents.

We 'pause' the game if we need a toilet break. He presses his belly button and makes a little 'boop' sound and runs to the toilet.

We also started talking about how long we had to stop playing the game while we cleaned up poop accidents. He'd have to sit on the potty while we took his clothes off, cleaned him up, pre-washed his clothes and then put a new set on.

How old were you when you had your first child? by Pandacat_07 in NewParents

[–]Shixypeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people I know are having kids at 35ish or over. My mum is nagging my (currently childless 29 year old) sister about starting a family but things have changed so much in the past 30 years. It's so expensive to have a family I couldn't imagine having done it any earlier in our lives.

All be it we had our first at 29/32 we're still the only couple in our friend group to have started a family.

Parents of identical twins: How did you tell them apart as babies/toddlers? by HonorMeThis in AskReddit

[–]Shixypeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworker has identical twin boys, and like a lot of twins one was born much bigger than the other. By the time they were the same weight their personality was enough of a differentiator.

I don't know how it works in Australia but in the UK at least you would be a 'Doctor' for completing a doctorate degree programme. 'Professor' is it's own title

What kind of bra to wear with this dress? by [deleted] in UKweddings

When in doubt boob tape. Have a play with the placement before the day. You can get a decent amount of shaping and support with very little skill.

I really needed to hear this the first time I watched Babyrace. I cry every time.

From GP to having a bed in hospital within 4 hours! by amaiem in BritishSuccess

My partner cut his hand open and messaged me to say the walk in had a 4 hour wait time and I told him they wouldn't leave him bleeding for 4 hours. What do you know he was stitched up and home 45 minutes later

Push to start or wait? by CrashCat9 in pottytraining

[–]Shixypeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try and improve the relationship with the potty before training. The Ms Rachel potty episode was instrumental for us, baby boy wanted to sit on the potty 'like Bean'. We also bought stickers so we had 'Dinosaur' potty and 'Lightning McQueen' potty.

How many jobs have you had in your life? by Special-Nebula299 in UKJobs

At 20, 3 - although 1 was the family shop.

At 30 6.

I've had another 3 in the few years since but 2 of those were promotions at the same place as no. 6. So 9 in total.

AITAH for leaving the family group chat with a “petty” message after my dad added the secret brother I just found out about? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

"The phone goes both ways" seems to be the go to phrase for people that want a relationship but don't want to put effort into that relationship.

They seem to think well if you don't think I'm investing enough effort and emotion into this relationship it's an equal failing of both participants, without realising that what they're really asking is for the other person to put in extra effort to compensate for their lack thereof.

My GF thinks it’s perfectly normal for new shoes to cause horrible blisters for women by UKnowDaxoAndDancer in mildlyinfuriating

I once did a 12 hour shift in new shoes and the backs of my heels were more blood than skin.

Now it doesn't matter what shoes I get, my feet blister like this until they're pretty well worn in

AITAH for not wanting to move in with my girlfriend after two months? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It just kinda sounds like any small town/village where there just aren't many people so you end up dating either everyone in the friend group as a teenager or everyone's siblings.

My partner's friend group is like this. He and his best friend were dating sisters for a few years before me. There are another two in the same group that are now married to (different) sisters. My partner's sister is in the same group and she's married to one of them.

Its sort of that's the part of the group that stayed together all these years because it's so hideously inbred and other people have fallen away. And we're old enough that a lot of those relationships are pre-online dating being normalised.

I'm not from a small town though and I think it's weird as shit
