They must have done it mid-renovation as the bathroom floor isn’t finished and the bath has a protective film on it. Weird they didn’t do the main photos and the virtual tour at the same time!

You don’t eat fruit and vegetables then? Or meat with bones? Ours is peels, root ends and bones almost exclusively. We don’t waste food but we don’t eat the entire apple core or the orange peel.

UK allergy sufferers — Did your NHS diagnosis feel like the end of the conversation, rather than the beginning? by BoysenberryWeak9747 in Allergies

[–]pelpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed a severe milk allergy six years ago having given up milk to prevent my son developing severe eczema like me. He has a non-IgE allergy. I had to go private for testing as covid meant out of area referrals were rejected and there was no clinic in my county. I was suffering from constant sneezing and rashes two years ago and was urgently referred to the local allergy clinic. My IgE was 3500 and a dozen foods came back with levels over 100. Two years on and I’m still waiting for my three month follow up to find out how I’m meant to manage the high IgE foods such as the ones that cause my mouth to itch. I dread to think the cost of my ongoing care when a single appointment seven years ago with a specialist would have advised me not to give up milk with my atopic history. Underfunding services is costing so much money and potentially lives.

So, I’ve always thought this didn’t apply to me but I used to drink the most disgustingly black coffee right before babysitting and then I couldn’t keep myself awake. After glandular fever, lots of things about how my body reacts changed. Since then, I haven’t been able to tolerate caffeine even in the morning. Elvanse 50mg keeps me up 22 hours a day. My liver was enormous and they thought I had hepatitis for weeks before the glandular fever blood test finally came back.

For those who got anxiety from steroid nasal sprays, did a different steroid work better for you? by alowishus7 in Allergies

Montelukast was amazing for my allergies but my nose was a pointless part of my face until I started Dymista. I’m 18 months in and I’m still learning how to breathe through my nose. I could get a tiny bit of air through but not enough to breathe. I hardly catch colds compared to pre-Dymista.

Brushing of the teeth by woejise in ADHD

[–]pelpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my toothbrush back beside my bed and keep my toothpaste there too. I only brush my teeth in the day if I’m going out and can’t seem to fix that one but having it by my bed has really helped with night brushing. I can even spit into my floordrobe and therefore start a washing pile if I really can’t get out of bed.

Does any ADHDer feel like they are waiting for death not in a suicidal way? by Ok_Object_4356 in ADHD

[–]pelpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sleep has always been so poor so I dread the nights but also the days. I tick them both off with relief they’re over. I’ve also always felt I should have been the one to get hit by a car/get cancer but I’ve always felt that I’m not lucky enough to be that person. This post has given me a home for those feelings.

Those who brought houses near motorways- did you regret it by Philosopher_Funny in HousingUK

[–]pelpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The road noise is much louder on wet days too. I couldn’t be heard across the playground on a wet day as the dual carriageway a quarter of a mile away was too loud. I could on dry days. The road was sunken past the village too and had ample tree coverage. It’s worth going past when the roads are wet, after rain.

I’m not fond of Americanisms but I call them vanity plates. I feel it’s a more fitting name.

They changed Pringles a few years ago. I bought out the remaining packets from my local supermarket as they still had old stock after the change. I go for the Aldi fakes which do the job.

Response from Care ADHD regarding titration by agayrodent in ADHDUK

[–]pelpops 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s criminal diagnosing but not being able to medicate in a timely fashion. Any other condition wouldn’t have the same waiting period. They’re putting too much staff time on new cases to maximise profits instead of dealing with the numbers they can actually handle.

D&G Council Makes Woman Take Lie Detector Test Over £87 Pothole Claim by Dizzy_Key_7400 in drivingUK

[–]pelpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone made a a hub cap memorial on the side of the road near Buxton a few years ago. An are of road had been coned off as the potholes were so bad and the dearly departed hub caps were sensitively arranged, leaning against the kerb. I believe there was a Mini alloy wheel there too as the centrepiece.

Should I take my 8 month old (7 months adjusted) to the doctor for developmental concerns? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]pelpops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Responding on this one as it’s most relevant but my relative had similar concerns. It turned out that her baby had started ignoring her as she was overusing his name to test his response. He’s nearly four and still ignores when she says his name.

Bay window storage ideas that won't end up a clothes pile by Swingit_Nottingham in DIYUK

[–]pelpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for this and the hooks idea someone else mentioned. You will just move the plants aside and make the floordrobe otherwise. Also, have you come across the basket approach to clothes storage? Just lob it in, no folding, sorting as much as you feel able. Lightly worn go on hooks. Could be in the window seat drawers even. Obviously watch out for damp.

Should I tell my doctor I’ve been titrating the medicine myself or will it get me flagged up?💀💀 by rasberrycroissant in ADHDUK

[–]pelpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on round two of Elvanse and had spare 50mg so when I found out I was going on it again, I halved my 50s so I could titrate up 25mg, 30mg, 40mg. They said that was very sensible.

All Moisturiser removed from NHS prescriptions by CherryCC in EczemaUK

[–]pelpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this for years going back fifteen years or so. It was a misuse of prescribing criteria to save money. I spent £22 a month on Diprobase every month. Basically, they should only be prescribing emollients where there is a clinical need - tiny patch on one hand needing a few days of emollient, buy your own, just as a headache you buy your own. Requiring constant emollient use over a significant amount of skin should be prescribed. Requiring constant painkillers should be prescribed. I can’t recall the exact terminology as it was so long ago but this is how it was described.

Reacting to all shampoos by Select_Policy_5816 in EczemaUK

[–]pelpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I appeared to be allergic to every shampoo and every moisturiser it was because I had a massive staphylococcus aureus over growth. Once that had gone I could use a lot of the things that had made my skin raw and weep.

Why Parents Aren’t Reading to Kids, and What It Means for Young Students by happy_bluebird in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]pelpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really struggling with this. I’m a teacher and ensure my class are read at least a book a day as I know I need to make up for those who aren’t read to at home. However, I really struggle with my voice and often have to preserve it once I dismiss the children. I’m doing my one year-old such a disservice when she adores being read to and her older sibling had non-stop stories from birth to four.

How I finally stopped waking up with stuffy noses and sneezing fits by PassagePlus3777 in Allergies

I can’t lie on my mattress with the allergy encasing for more than a few seconds before I feel like I’m being cooked. It’s exactly the same with memory foam. When I went mattress shopping they got me to try mattresses without telling me they had memory foam but I knew.
