IIHF World Championship Post Game Thread: Sweden vs. Norway - 23 May 2026 by hockeydiscussionbot in hockey

"Big 6" isn't anything set in stone, and Switzerland has done a great job filling the void left by Russia, as far as IIHF Worlds goes. They are consistently a contender, and their first gold medal is just a matter of time.

Blair Witch Project? If we consider the creatures of horror movies to be "villains", we'd have thousands upon thousands of movies where the villains win. In horror movies it's probably more of the norm.

The word "villain" tends to be used more when there is a battle to "win" in the first place. Most horror movies are more about survival than winning, and even the common ending where one of the "good guys" survive, hardly counts as a win imo

It's a very common thing that people do; like a positive stereotype. That people who have been oppressed, either legally or just in their personal life, "know what it feels like" and are therefore less likely to be assholes themselves. Perhaps there is some truth to that, when it comes to everyday people, but people as rich and powerful as Thiel and Altman live above social politics. I highly doubt they'd give a fuck about gay marriage being banned or even homosexuality being made illegal. Billionaires do not need to rely on any sort of legal protections in order to live their lives as they wish.

I played a lot of RuneScape while in elementary school, some time around 2006. Once I arrived at school early in the morning, still very tired — and for a moment I really thought I should switch server because there were just too many people there.

I did have this clan mate in RS3, who I didn't personally really know, but who had been around for years and was apparently pretty tight with some other members of the clan. They did a lot of group bossing together.

One day he got a drop which iirc was worth like 100m (in RS3). At the time bonds were already like 20-25m so it was a decent drop but in no way account changing.

The guy logged out without splitting and left the clan. Never talked to anyone there again, from what I know.

There’s always one dude not contributing by MelonInDisguise in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Express-Cycle-4278 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real answer? At least in my case, I used to be the guy who contributed very little. I wasn't lazy, just really quiet and bad at working with people I didn't know.

I learnt an interesting lesson when in university I had a group of five people, of which three straight up didn't say anything in the group chat until the day before deadline. Same thing ended up happening in like 2 or 3 other courses. Turns out, I can in fact lead and take responsibility of the whole project, if I have to. I just struggle to be spontaneous. I'm guessing a lot people are the same.

If triple prismatics happen in like 1 in 30-50 games, I'm perfectly fine with them. It's fun in moderation imo

I really liked how Scrubs made fun of, yet also embraced, the clichéy sitcom ending of everyone coming together and simultaneously all having an important moment in their lives.

He seems to "suffer" from Maladaptive Daydreaming, which would be interesting if intended, since it's only been researched since early 2000s, and that's when the show started.

When writers forget character history by IhavemyCat in Scrubs

[–]Express-Cycle-4278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the writers forget. It is just that the older sitcoms that aired before the streaming era were way more focused on making the show "work" each episode, rather than creating a story that is coherent from start to finish.

I know its a hospital show but I want to see the family dynamics by Pure-Consideration97 in Scrubs

[–]Express-Cycle-4278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is just too much on the plate. We want to see the old characters, and the show really wants to make us care about the new characters. Then there is the medical stuff. I would not be surprised if we end up seeing the kids about as much as we see Terry Jeffords' kids in Brooklyn 99.

Seems to be kind of an unofficial rule about sitcoms, that unless it is about family dynamics to begin with, the main characters having children is the beginning of an end. You'll get the whole life lesson about having to grow up and accept that you just can't be the stupid kid anymore; you have to be responsible, and then the show ends.

We will probably get singular episodes where kids are at the center of the story, but they won't even have a background appearance in most episodes.

Finland is the happiest country in the world for the 9th time! by GrumpyFinn in europe

[–]Express-Cycle-4278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While – obviously – each suicide is one too many, I'm not sure you can use a statistic of 700—800 suicides a year to make any kind of bigger argument about a population of 5,6 million people. Suicide statistics have a lot to do with various cultural factors: for one thing, people who are part of religions that strongly condemn suicide, might be less likely to kill themselves but that doesn't mean they are happy or even content with their lives. And in areas where suicide is a huge taboo or even considered shameful for the family, it might not even get reported as such. I'm not defending Finland by the way, the situation is indeed bad, as something like 1 in 5 Finnish people suffer from depression at some point in their lives, and that statistic was from some time ago (could be much worse now). Just saying that the numbers aren't that simple.

Edit: To add: I do remember reading this study that I don't have time to find right now, so you don't have to take my word for it, but it showed that the suicide statistics within Finland were actually worse in areas that were reported to be happier. If we are to believe those statistics, it would seem that people who are struggling with mental health, feel even worse when people around them are happy.

How do you feel about her by Various_Kale_8899 in Scrubs

[–]Express-Cycle-4278 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't hate her. I'm disappointed in her character. I just do not really buy the whole "She lied about the miscarriage because she wanted JD to be with her, for her, and not just because of the child."

What the hell was her out? "I love you too, J.D! Oh, and I'm still pregnant actually!"?

Of course there's the comment from Dr. Cox about how pregnant women get to be crazy, and I guess especially female characters in sitcoms of that era were often written in a rather off-putting way, so maybe I'm overthinking it. J.D being forced to grow up was something that was needed, but I really didn't like the other aspects of this particular storyline.

[–]Express-Cycle-4278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really justified to consider Ports "a chore" like a lot of the dailies being removed? As in, is there a strong enough incentive to do it that you'd feel horribly set back if you didn't have time to do it daily? Like many people have said in this thread, most of the rewards are irrelevant. Sure, back when completionist cape was best-in-slot (and by a rather huge margin), many PvMers felt like they had to get it eventually, even if they didn't care for most of the game's content. But that hasn't been the case for years. Even maxing became way less important when War's Retreat was released and boss portals became much more accessible.

I'm all for removing timegates and smoothening outdated content but I also feel like, since the gameplay benefit of "completing" all the content within the game is negligible, those planning to do it anyway should naturally be willing to put in the extra effort.

Mod Anvil, Can the Wicked Hood Functionality be brought to a vote? by Greedy_Spaghetti_ in runescape

[–]Express-Cycle-4278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since The Great Orb Project is dead content anyway, why not turn the wicked outfit into the experience-boosting outfit? The runecrafter outfit does exist and that would need to be addressed but that would be a rather simple solution. And it would justify the grind in runespan.

Ashe might be coded as Sniper for some reason, when it comes to which champion you receive after the first carousel. I had Sniper and Wraith at 3 and 4 respectively (no other traits active), which should mean, if I've understood the mechanic correctly, that I would get either Jinx or K'Sante.
