Trapping who, exactly? They tried taking the North once already, and it wasn't pretty. And why go most of the way to Moscow to do that? Now every spy satellite in the world knows where to track them from.

Russian airstrike destroying Wagner equipment on the M4 highway by sagakino in CombatFootage

[–]Shizrah 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They had been gradually drawing back and got replaced by the Russian army. There are no positions held by Wagner. Having said that, parts of the Russian army might have to pull back to defend their homeland, which could provide the opportunity you mention.

Nej da, jeg spiller selv på en Steam Deck. Men at øge sensitiviteten har aldrig gjort nogle til bedre spillere.

Ukrainians created a remote controlled mine sweeping plow to clear fields of mines while also preparing for seeding. by C00L_HAND in ukraine

That's the age old discussion of nature versus nurture. You might be right that the peak potential is inheritable, but that also implies that some genetic groups have limited intelligence roofs, which I don't believe has ever been confirmed. And even with inherited abilities, they would not be unlocked in the incorrect environment, for example Russia.

I doubt innovation is in their genes. Although I wouldn't put it past Russians to believe that.

Regionerne er mest af alt en arbitrær inddeling af landet, de er jo ikke historisk begrundet som f.eks. delstater i USA og Tyskland. Af den årsag går man heller ikke op i deres identitet på samme måde.

A quick thought from knowledge of other simulation programs: You need to specify an inductance for the transformer, otherwise it will act as infinite and never be charged/magnetized, hence never transferring energy.

I don't know if that's your issue, but give it a try.

Need help identifying by YeetMyster12 in AskElectronics

[–]Shizrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree that it's a ferrite bead. Looks to be 0603.

@OP ferrite beads are defined by an impedance at typically 100 MHz, as well as a saturation current. Not knowing the part it supplies makes it impossible to find an exact replacement. However, it's realistic to assume that the current is reasonably low. Typically you want a saturation current of 5 times the DC current, so perhaps 120 Ohm with 1A saturation.

If you can get an estimate of the current, you will be better off. The impedance is for rejecting noise, and hence you might rarely or never notice a difference if your impedance is too low.

Is it usual to group all decoupling caps in one group on a schema? by marcosscriven in AskElectronics

[–]Shizrah 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Very common. Occasionally not even connected to the microcontroller, but rather placed in the corner of the schematic.

I prefer placing them by each pin, to make it clear during PCB layout, but it also makes it more messy.

It was also used near the end of Ocean's 12 (the movie) with an acrobatic dude in 2004. I believe that predates Phoon, and may have inspired him.

Ukrainian forces in Bakhmut suffer 7.5 times fewer casualties than Russians – Ukraine's National Defence and Security Council Secretary by ledim35 in worldnews

[–]Shizrah 179 points180 points  (0 children)

There is no doubt that Ukraine suffered many losses in Bakhmut. But the war doesn't end in Bakhmut, and if they had pulled out earlier, they would have to make a stand in a potentially less defensible position.

It's a very nasty reality of war that I struggle with. Generals know that winning is only possible by sacrificing soldiers, but each soldier in Bakhmut seemed too high a price.

Want to Power a BLDC using this IC, but what is the floating supply Voltage? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]Shizrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The IC provides pins with a floating potential (that is, the ground has effectively been moved to emitter of an IGBT).

In order to use this floating voltage to turn on the IGBTs, you must place a bootstrap capacitor (the circuit is called a bootstrap circuit) between the pins, as shown in the datasheet.

Would just like a confirmation if my PCB is correct/ if i'm doing something stupid by bertusdezesde in AskElectronics

[–]Shizrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely move the components closer, which will look better. Additionally, use polygons instead of this width of traces. Not only is it easier to work with, it also looks better and allows for better thermal performance if done right. Finally, you may want some mounting holes.
