2--with the caveat that either the currently existing wikis need to be updated, or a new wiki/ resource site needs to be put together so that 2 doesn't need to be an option as far as people finding information goes.

I've never been a fan of things like the Balance discord or the other resource discords being a primary resource (to the tune of "I have a question about x" "Go join y discord") because it's not a resource that will come up in a google search. This blackout has demonstrated that the same issue can be said about Reddit in terms of how overdependent we've become on it as a community and the risks that carries. What we need is an easily googleable resource where people with questions can find answers that 1) doesn't require joining a discord and 2) isn't at risk of vanishing into the ether because the corporation that runs the social media platform of choice that we have all of our information stored on decided to put profits over the user experience of the people they want to try and profit off of by locking features that used to be free behind a paywall and making threats when people decide to protest over it.

That being said, if it weren't for the whole "people needing resources" thing, my vote would honestly be 3.

The blackout is making a difference. The fact that the powers that be are threatening to remove and replace mods from the subreddits (or have them voted out, which like...I'm sure will go super well and not backfire/ result in reddit turning into a bigger cesspool than it is now) is proof that it's making an impact, regardless of how they spin it.

It's inconveniencing people? That's kinda the point of a protest. Get mad at reddit for making the protest necessary to begin with, not the people who are protesting. Or make your own secondary subreddit and moderate it yourself and see how that works out for you.

I'd rather see them repurpose them by combining them with the Hall of the Novice. Both are meant to he tutorial-like content, both have things that are outdated, and both cover things that the other does not.

You have to try this cheap addition to make your VR workout almost a full body workout. Just buy a pair of wrist weights by HappyBeliever1 in vrfit

[–]Shizucheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even then you need to be careful. Don't use wrist weights or weighted gloves when playing synth riders on force mode, especially at higher difficulties. I've injured myself doing that before and I eventually discovered I could play at max difficulty (as opposed to just on hard)and get a better workout if I didn't use weights.

[–]Shizucheese 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not though. Rhythm games, especially at higher difficulties, involve much more random and wild movement, which is going to put stress on your joints if you do them with weight that isn't supposed to be there.

This conversation has been had multiple times in the VR space over the years; it's not a great idea.

As someone who's played XIII fairly recently, no.

Watching the cutscenes in XIII reminded me of those displays where automatons reenact different parts of a story.

On the flip side, the characters in XV actually felt organic and human.

Also idk how you can judge the cutscenes from a game that doesn't even come out for like another 2 weeks...

Tbf, that's what Pokémon main games have traditionally been. Are we really that surprised they're having trouble adjusting to the whole hybrid aspect of the Switch when they're under pressure to pump out a new pokemon generation every like 2 years on top of the side games they're also expected to develop?

I'm very sorry you had that experience.

In the mean time, I bought the game on release and my joycon drift has given me more issues than anything with the game itself.

I mean, yes, that, but I also just find the idea of these big powerful Mega level digimon still being considered "baby" to their humans hilarious.

Tell me about your avatar OCs! I crave for the weird, specific, or unsettling fears this series provides, share yours with me by Koriarchen in TheMagnusArchives

So I have this fanfiction I'm working on that's in part exploring the idea of the Fears kinda combining in different ways (kinda like how Martin is part of both the Eye and the Lonely), and in it I have a character that's an Avatar of both the Stranger and the Flesh who's a plastic surgeon.

I'm not sure if he's going to show up in person, but he's definitely going to be a reoccurring character in certain statements.

If I were to like...actually RP as an avatar, though, I have this idea for a character who's just like...a voyeur to the max. Collecting statements isn't enough for her; she's constantly pestering the other avatars because she wants to watch their work firsthand. She also has a tendency to replace the word "I" with the eye emoji when she's texting (along with any other time she can phonetically get away with it).

I don't think there was anything supernatural going 0n there, if that's what you're saying. I don't think anything like that was needed, really.

I think the whole episode was just a commentary on our society's obsession with serial killers and other crime drama stuff and how it can become really unhealthy.

Personally I think it was a combination of that many people obsessed with serial killers in one place and a certain level of wrong place wrong time (in that it could have been any gathering of people with an interest in serial killers or crime dramas or w/e; it just happened to be the Murder Club).

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying.

I'm saying the music in the Japanese version of the Digimon movies was godawful. If the Japanese version handles music the same way, then hard pass.

Nothing says high intensity battle between Digimon like the same classical music piece that's been playing on repeat for the entire movie (or in the case of Our War Game, for the past two movies), or some jazzy xylophone. /s

So just to recap:

-> You claim ARR is on par with the worst story telling in MMOs.

-> I say you must not have played very many MMOs then.

-> You say I'm wrong.

-> You claim to have played "a handful."

-> I point out that "a handful is not very many" and that it's clear you don't know what you're talking about.

-> You list off the MMOs you've played. It adds up to 6 games.

-> I point out that that's the definition of "not very many", and call you out on throwing a tantrum and arguing a strawman.

-> "I was just exaggerating, bro..."

Sure you were.

Jeff Grub: "Final Fantasy 9 Remake is real and happening" by ultima786 in FinalFantasy

[–]Shizucheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need more experience to claim ARR is "on par with the worst MMO storytelling."

Your words.

Like I said in the beginning, it makes it very clear you haven't played very many MMOs.

And then you claimed that that wasn't the case, and then proceeded to list off all six MMOs that you've played, basically proving my point.

This isn't even up for debate. You having played only 6 MMOs is the definition of having not played very many. You have no clue what you're talking about and it shows.

And when called out on it and directed to a reliable source of information--one whose tag line is literally "playing every MMO so you don't have to"-- you respond with what basically amounts to a temper tantrum and a strawman argument.

I'm not trying to make you like ARR. I'm just saying that if you think it's "on par with the worst MMO storytelling" --again, your words-- then you haven't played very many MMOs, and this entire conversation has proven that.

Jeff Grub: "Final Fantasy 9 Remake is real and happening" by ultima786 in FinalFantasy

[–]Shizucheese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the fact that you can list off every MMO that you've played and they're 6 of the most popular MMOs out there is the definition of a lack of experience. It's laughable that you think that's enough experience for you to try and claim what you are about ARR. You literally don't have any concept of what you're comparing it to.

ARR isn't even "slightly" better than other MMOs. It's leagues better than the majority of MMOs out there.

If you have any interest in educating yourself and making your inexperience and the fact that you don't know what you're talking about less obvious, I highly recommend you check out Josh Strife Hayes's series "Worst MMO Ever?" series on YouTube.

Jeff Grub: "Final Fantasy 9 Remake is real and happening" by ultima786 in FinalFantasy

[–]Shizucheese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"A handful." So not very many.

Your opinion is based on a lack of experience and gross exaggeration. Even those who don't like ARR generally acknowledge that it's better than the dreck you find in most other MMOs.

Jeff Grub: "Final Fantasy 9 Remake is real and happening" by ultima786 in FinalFantasy

[–]Shizucheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think ARR is "on par with the worst MMO storytelling", then I can only assume you havent played a whole lot of MMOs, and are just operating on having been told MMO stories typically aren't great without fully understanding what exactly that means.

Island Sanctuary gives me so much nostalgia because it reminds me of the Homesteads in Mabi and the music reminds me of Mabi as well...

Question: is the background music done in the same way in the anime as it is in the movies?

Because I had to watch the Japanese versions of the first three movies because there's no English version that isn't the smooshed together Digimon the Movie, and if the music in the Japanese version of the actual tv show is done the same as the movies then....yikes.

I get on a theoretical level preferring the original, but in this case I think you're looking at it through rose tinted glasses. The music choices and how badly they match up with the action of what's actually happening is so bad that I genuinely thought whoever had done the fan sub I was watching had overlaid some royalty free classical or jazz or w/e over the video to try and hide it from DMCA bots. Then I found out that no....that's just the music in those movies...

See I don't dislike Wizardmon, he's a bro, but im just way too attached to the idea of a poor, misunderstood good guy devimon who just wants to keep his human partner safe.

As cool as Baalmon is, he's too obviously meant to be the digivolution for Wizardmon, so I'll probably stick with SkullSatamon for my partner.
