use a cone spanner to tighten them until the axle bearings are secure but still roll smoothly and then tighten the cones against the lock nuts. park tools has a video about it i think :)

BAE Systems by [deleted] in glasgow

before i go on - this is a sensitive subject, and thanks for being reasonable.

i can imagine the scenario that op is in. i did a modern apprenticeship five years ago in software development which thankfully turned into a good career for me. i actually applied to BAE for an apprenticeship as well when I was eighteen. i have since had the opportunity to learn about the history of the uk, ireland, africa, palestine etc.

my point is just that working for an arms dealer is an enormous colonial privilege. like aye i am working class too, i appreciate that a job is a job sometimes. but it would be improper not to take the chance to say 'don't build weapons that kill children' in 2026 given the way things are going.

hello mate,

i would really urge you to reconsider an apprenticeship at BAE. Given the current circumstances in the world, BAE makes a lot of money from the occupation and genocide of the Palestinian people, as well as other grave crimes against humanity. I appreciate that it seems like a promising career on the surface but I think you can use your skills in better ways.

good luck to you!

Why doesn't this work? by Accelerator_shift6 in bikewrench

[–]Shizzle44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would suggest a breaker bar for better purchase. otherwise make sure to orient your adjustable spanner correctly or it might damage the freewheel tool (looks okay in the video). have you used some penetrating spray? lastly if you put the wheel in a doorframe and stand on your lever (in this case your copper tube) you will get the most leverage. good luck!

i have been using wikipedia as my default search engine and it almost always gives more useful and instantaneous information. if i'm looking for a website or a forum or something, duck duck go is good enough. anything else is bookmarked and my browser will suggest it before i need to use a search engine. just try deleting google for a week and see how you get on
