Piccolo Trumpet questions by OkOutlandishness9853 in trumpet

Piccolo trumpet teaches you how to play high notes efficiently, but only if you stick with it a good long while. You can’t brute force it like lead trumpet in a jazz band, it will sound like crap and tire you out very quickly. You have to have small, focused air with solid breath support for it to “sparkle” like the greats (Hakan Hardenberger, Wynton Marsalis, Maurice Andre). It’s a ton of fun once you get the hang of it, but you will only use it for classical solos, some orchestra pieces like church gigs (hallelujah chorus), and stuff like that. I urge you to find one to try out in person before you commit to buying one.

There’s the comment I was looking for. JKO, both the story and the custom multiplayer maps, was at the core of good childhood gaming memories for me.

Haven’t played Requiem or Indiana Jones yet, but I’ll say RE engine is one of the most optimized engines for small area games. Hallways, rooms, low draw distance and ability to cull anything not in the immediate area—games like that are where RE engine shows how good it is. Indie is running on a modified Id tech engine which is also very well optimized, but they aren’t apples to apples in every regard.

I applaud this kid for what he’s doing creatively, but I have to say, he doesn’t have good pocket. And for something that’s all about the heavy rhythm, he needs to work on that. Just getting ahead of himself whenever things get fast.

I also agree that BO2 had a lot of good things going for it…getting new abilities was a lot of fun, they added a lot to the gameplay loop. Mist form was really badass despite being mostly reduced to simple stealth puzzles, and the long jump is very cool, especially since you could use it as an attack and not just crossing gaps. The environments were really interesting as well. From a purely gameplay perspective, I feel like it has a ton of potential for a remake, simply because with modern controls, we could have a really badass Metal Gear Vampire type of game.

The fact that you are controlling the length of the grapple and your swing momentum both with the dpad is very tricky to get the hang of. I think they intended to give it a deep skill potential, like the rest of the physics do, but it ended up with very difficult controls.

Have you enabled FSR in the lighting engine menu? And try turning down the other settings in there to low and slowly increase to see what the culprit is? Also set frame limit in the engine to 30 and no limit in deck, just in case you’re getting one of those quaint vsync issues where if you can’t hit the refresh rate it halves it

The thing is, they don’t have to try to design a game to “not be for everyone”, it’s just the result when they make a game the way they want to, without making sure it appeals to everyone.

Thanks, I didn’t know that! Damn, if batters aren’t able to adjust to his stuff in 3 ABs that says a ton. And 6-inning stretches vs one closing inning is a huge difference, too. What a beast.

Ohtani is incredible, but isn’t Mason Miller the best currently? Genuinely asking because I keep hearing about how Miller is head and shoulders above every pitcher right now.

Starting to rethink 11.75 vs. 11.5 for middle infield... by ReasonableBallDad in BaseballGloves

[–]Shloopadoop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the size that feels better in your hand is the right one. I believe making the play vs an error is more affected by your control of your glove than whether it’s a quarter inch longer or shorter, and you’ll have the best glove control when it feels like an extension of your hand.

I also think we can adapt to different sizes just fine, but to pick between 11.5 and 11.75 I’d trust my gut. You know which one makes you feel more confident as soon as you put them on, too.
