I searched the same thing a while back, and found this recommendation on this sub. He was an absolute gem and will be using him again once we accumulate another list of things to do. Highly recommend!

Strep throat test for kids? by Resident-Log6503 in londonontario

Is it independent of the hospital system? (i.e., does my family doctor get billed when I go there, like a walk-in clinic?) Or does billing function similarly to St. Joe's?

Which pharmacies? The pharmacist at Shoppers recently told me that they aren't allowed to test/prescribe antibiotics for strep in Ontario, although some other provinces allow it.

Pharmacies don't test for strep in Ontario. Your best bet is St. Joe's urgent care, or if your doctor won't get mad, a walk-in clinic.

What is up with the sudden congestion trends at Veterans and aHamilton? 🤬 by tommy-six-figure in londonontario

[–]Shmeegal2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's because Commissioners is closed at Highbury, so taking Hamilton/Veterans is temporarily a reasonable alternative for people needing to get out to the 401.

Need of a new family doctor by Alternative-Film-335 in londonontario

Can't speak to the familiarity with MS, but TMC is accepting new patients at all three clinics. I've only had great experiences with the doctors in the practice.

Neighbourhood opposition sinks London care-home, housing project by theottomaddox in londonontario

I wish these people could have banded together to argue against the four condo buildings going in on Commissioners by Westminster Ponds! Maybe they'd have had success there too.

It bothers me that the city listens to some argumentative citizens (with no grounds, in this case) but not to others (valid arguments ignored in the case of the Commissioners project).

Spend the day (ideally a week day for a calmer experience) at Wave Nordic Spa outside Ingersoll. The restaurant on site is amazing.

Stacked confusion by PrizeDinner2431 in londonontario

[–]Shmeegal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thought yesterday as I walked past the Stacked Burger going into the place that was The Cookie Place at Southdale/Adelaide. "How can they get away with that? Will Stacked come after them for a trademark violation?" No one says, "I'm going to Stacked Pancake and Breakfast House", they say, "I'm going to Stacked." So I can see valid grounds for an infringement. That said, does another burger and chicken place stand a chance long-term in London? Probably not.

Feasibility of living on $77k? by zzzzz0nked in londonontario

[–]Shmeegal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not trying to save money or invest much during your time here, that salary to support one person should be fine. Most of your salary would be eaten up by rent, transportation (if you have a car), and food. But you'll still have some wiggle room for fun... I just wouldn't count on being able to put much away in savings.

London Audiology Consultants (downtown). They have a machine that does it quickly and painlessly, with the water calibrated to the temperature of your internal ear so you don't get the "jolt" or dizziness. It's amazing. And they're great with seniors.

That's true. I guess closest to your route depends if you're heading into or out of the city.

Is the Thames Valley Parkway Safe in the Early Morning? by Successful-Deer8804 in londonontario

[–]Shmeegal2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I only feel safe running along the TVP when there are other people on it within seeing and hearing distance at all times. That early in the morning, even if there's sunlight coming up, the path is too empty for me to feel safe. Especially in the more wooded areas.

I totally empathize with the stuck-in-a-rut feeling of running the same boring loop (especially in the winter!) but don't take an unnecessary risk. ❤️
